Description of Work: They removed an existing chain-link fence and installed a new fence that included a larger part of my yard. They hauled away the old fencing and put the dirt for the posts in a spot I designated. The fence was installed a week earlier than I was originally promised and they finished in one day.

The work was never done.
Description of Work: The work was never done. The salesman came and measured the area and gave us an estimate. I called and emailed the salesman twice and never heard from him again.

Description of Work: They were supposed to come out to do an estimate. I scheduled an appointment for Saturday. The person doing the estimate called me back to reschedule to a date more convenient for him so we rescheduled for Friday. He never showed up and never called.

Description of Work: We had 10 fence posts replaced on our older stockade fence. The fence runs over 295 feet along our property. The two gentlemen that made the repairs were prompt, efficient, courteous and polite and they left us no clean-up whatsoever. In a few years when the fence will need a new facelift, we will definitely call Tru-Link Fence. Thank You.

Description of Work: I called this company to schedule an estimate for a privacy fence. They were courteous and professional enough over the phone, but they never showed up for the appointment and didn't call to tell me that they weren't coming. I would not hire them because they obviously do not value their potential customers' time.

Tru-Link Fence apologizes for the error/mis-communication between our appointment scheduling dept. and sales dept. We at Tru-Link try and do everything humanly possible to keep missed appointments from occuring. Unfortunately our appointment schedulers set a time and Date with her and the appointment was never relayed to the sales representative. Tru-Link has no tolerence for sales staff that would intentionally miss an appointment. In this case however the appointment was never entered into the sales representatives schedule and thus he knew nothing about it. She scheduled her appointment time on May 11th. That same week we scheduled over 200 appointments and unfortunately this one was not entered into the sales reps schedule. Tru-Link Fence offers no excuses...this was a simple case of human error and we do apologize again. Tru-Link values all potential customers as well as current customers. I urge other Angies List members to review the grades for recent installations and understand that to error is human and the missed appointment was just a case of human error which we are looking at additional safeguards to minimize.

The installation crew arrived to install the fencing while I was at home. I stopped them from beginning work because the natural gas lines had not been marked on my property, despite the company's promise to have that done before they started work. I called J.U.L.I.E. myself to make sure the gas lines were marked. The crew returned approximately one week later, and installed the wrong material: 42" high fence instead of 36" high fence. My homeowners association forbids any fencing to be over 36" high. I called my salesman, who did apologize and promised to have it corrected. The crew came yet AGAIN one more week after I pointed out the error, installed the right fence, installed the entry gate with a garish industrial-size sign with the company's name on it (very inappropriate for a residential property), welding (instead of bolts) of the decorative scroll on the gate. A total of three weeks after the first attempt to install the fence, before the job was completed.
Description of Work: Install 49 linear feet of 36" high chain link fence, and one entry gate with decorative scroll.

ADMITTINGLY TRU-LINK MADE A MISTAKE AND ORDERED & CARRIED THE WRONG HEIGHT OF MATERIAL TO THE JOB. IN RESPONSE TO THE J.U.L.I.E. ISSUE, SHE SUGGESTS THAT TRU-LINK DID NOT CALL J.U.L.I.E. TO GET THE PUBLIC UTILITIES MARKED. TRU-LINK IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH JULIE AND WE DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR SERVICES. TRU-LINK'S RESPONSIBILITY, BY ILLINOIS STATE LAW, IS TO ORDER A LOCATE FROM JULIE ON ANY PROJECT THAT REQUIRES DIGGING. TRU-LINK DID FULFILL THIS ASPECT OF THE REQUIREMENT AND JULIE INFORMED US THAT ALL MARKINGS WOULD BE DONE BY A SPECIFIC TIME. THIS IS CONFIRMED BY A JULIE TICKET OR "DIG" NUMBER ISSUED TO US AND IN HER FILE. TO ERROR IS HUMAN. TRU-LINK ERRORED IN THE MATERIAL AND JULIE APPARENTLY ERRORED AND DID NOT HAVE THE UTILITY MARKED. THE ONLY THING TRU-LINK COULD DO IS HAVE THE AREA RE-MARKED BY JULIE AND INDICATE TO THEM THAT THERE WAS A MARK MISSING...WHICH WE DID. JULIE, IN RETURN, GIVES US A NEW DATE IN WHICH WE CAN GO BACK TO THE JOB SIGHT AND CONTINUE WORKING. UNFORTUNATELY THESE THINGS DO HAPPEN. TRU-LINK WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO NEVER HAVE JULIE MARKINGS EITHER NOT BE DONE OR DONE INCORRECTLY BUT UNFORTUNATELY THIS DOES HAPPEN TIME TO TIME. THUS TRU-LINK DID EVERYTHING IT COULD HAVE AND WAS REQUIRED TO DO INVOLVING JULIE LOCATES. IN REGARDS TO THE SCROLL BEING WELDED: TRU-LINK WELDS, AS A STANDARD, THE GALVANIZED GATES. WELDING IS PROVEN TO BE STRONGER THEN BOLTING. I.E YOUR CAR FRAME IS ALL WELDED....NOT BOLTED FOR A REASON.

The estimator didn't seem to want to be there. It was Saturday. He was actually early, which was OK because he called first. But he didn't "consult" on if it were his yard, what would he change. The price was pretty good though.
Description of Work: Backyard fencing. Got quotes for vinyl and western red ceder. They have a good selection of styles, probably one of the better selections that I've seen and I got got 5-6 estimates total.

After interviewing three contractors I decided to use Tru-Link. Mr. Adams was courteous and professional. The installer came on time and did a good job. He was finished in two days and the fence seems to be fine.

I AM UNABLE TO GET ANYWHERE WITH THEM OR AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS ESTIMATE WAS SO HIGH. I WILL NOT USE THIS COMPANY AND HAVE FOUND THIS EXPERIENCE TO BE QUITE FRUSTRATING.
Description of Work: I ATTEMPTED TO OBTAIN AN ESTIMATE TO HAVE TWO MOTORIZED GATE SYSTEMS INSTALLED, WITH SECURITY CAMERAS, FOR OUR CIRCULAR DRIVE ENTRANCE AND EXIT. THEY WERE PROMPT IN COMING OUT FOR THE ESTIMATE. THE REP SPENT A LOT OF TIME TALKING ABOUT WHAT I NEEDED AND MY OPTIONS. I DID NOT HEAR BACK FROM THEM AND CONTACTED THEIR OFFICE AFTER ABOUT THREE WEEKS, AT WHICH TIME I WAS SENT AN ESTIMATE FOR $26,000 (YES, TWENTY-SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS). I CONTACTED MY REP AND ASKED FOR A BREAKDOWN OF THE FEES AS WELL AS A REVISED REDUCED ESTIMATE AS THIS WAS EXCESSIVE. THIS WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. I AM UNABLE TO GET ANY RESPONSE FROM MY REP.

I HAVE WORKED BOTH THE WHOLESALE AND RETAIL END OF GATE OPERATOR PROJECTS AND HAVE A GOOD UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR PRICING. ALTHOUGH THE CONSUMER MAY BE SURPRISED AT A $26,000.00 PRICE TAG, I AM NOT. SIMPLE SYSTEMS (EXCLUDING THE GATE) START AT ANYWHERE FROM 3000.00 PLUS. I SEE THAT THIS MAY SOUND LOW BUT IT INCLUDES NOTHING AND IS THE LEAST EXPENSIVE SYSTEM AVAILABLE. MY AVERAGE BASE IS APPROX. 5,500.00. ADD FOR GATES 3000-????, PHONE SYSTEM 2,500.00 ADDITIONAL MOTOR FOR SECOND GATE 3000, LOOP AND SAFETY FEATURES 2500-4000 ETC ETC. THESE FIGURES DON'T EVEN INCLUDE ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS WHICH COULD ADD MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. IN THE WORLD OF GATES AND AUTOMATIC OPERATORS, THE OPTIONS SEEM ENDLESS AND THE PRICE RANGES ARE VAST DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WANT. WE MAY HAVE INCLUDED ITEMS WITHIN THE PACKAGE SO AS THE SYSTEM WOULD 1) FUNCTION THE WAY THE CUSTOMER WANTED 2) MADE SURE SYSTEM MET UP WITH UL325 AND ASTM SAFETY CODES TO PREVENT INJURY AND/OR DEATH. UNFORTUNATELY LEAVING THESE ITEMS OUT IS NOT AN OPTION FOR A SAFETY CONSCIOUS COMPANY. WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH THE WORKMEN THAT CAME TO OUR HOUSE TO INSTALL THE FENCE. THEY WERE VERY RESPECTFUL OF OUR PLANTS AND SHRUBS AND DID THEIR VERY BEST NOT TO DISTURB THEM. THEN ALL LUMBER WAS HAULED AWAY AND THE NEW POSTS DUG AND THE FENCE WAS INSTALLED ONE PLANK AT A TIME.

THEY SAID THEY WOULD START AT 9AM. THEY DIDN'T GET HERE UNTIL 11:30AM. THEY WERE GOING TO LEAVE EARLY, BUT THEN I CALLED TO COMPLAIN AND THEY STAYED. I HAD TO RUN AN ERRAND, AND AFTER RETURNING, THEY TOLD ME THE POWER ON THEIR TRUCK WAS NOT WORKING. I LEFT, AND WHEN I RETURNED, THEY WERE STILL THERE. AT THIS TIME, THERE WERE ABOUT 5 SERVICE PEOPLE THERE. THEY FINALLY DID FINISH THAT DAY AT ABOUT 9:30PM. AT THE END OF THE DAY, A GENTLEMAN CAME UP TO ME AND WANTED PAYMENT. I REFUSED TO PAY UNTIL IT WAS INSPECTED. I HAD ALREADY GIVEN HALF DOWN OF THE $720 FOR ONE FENCE AND HALF DOWN OF THE $490 FOR THE OTHER. WHEN HE WAS TRYING TO GET ME TO PAY, HE TOLD ME THAT THE SALESMAN TOLD ME INCORRECTLY ABOUT GETTING THE JOB DONE IN ONE DAY. THE NEXT DAY THE SALESMAN SAID HE NEVER TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD IT DONE IN 1 DAY.

THEY DID NOT BUILD PER THE DRAWING THAT OUR VILLAGE APPROVED. WHEN THE VILLAGE OBJECTED, THE COMPANY REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND BEGAN TO IGNORE MY CALLS. SHOWED UP WHEN THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD. INSTALLERS WERE CAREFUL TO MEASURE OUT THE LOT LINES TO INSURE FENCE POSTS WERE WITHIN THE PROPERTY LOT-LINES. ASKED WHERE TO DUMP EXCESS DIRT REMOVED FROM HOLES OR OFFERED TO TAKE IT WITH THEM. THEY WERE HAPPY TO RESCHEDULE INSTALLATION AFTER MIX-UP WITH CITY PERMIT DEPARTMENT OVER REQUIRED HEIGHT OF THE FENCE. WORK ON SATURDAYS AS WELL AS WEEKDAYS.
