Showed up on time for estimate, knowledgeable and efficient. Have had two services performed, do not yet know if they will fix the problem

I can't say enough about this company. I used them in the fall to trim trees and take out shrubs. They were great then and I had no hiccups. However, I had to call this time because I lost a huge part of a tree in the bad storm and another had lost some branches. I called Davey Tree, and they sent out Brian Ziegler who I've dealt with before. Brian goes beyond great customer service! He's a knowledgeable arborist, organized and extremely quick to get things done. He came out to access the damage within an hour after I called, even after being up all night from the many calls they were receiving during and after the storm. I had a crew at my house within a few more hours to take my tree down and remove all the debris. The crew foreman, Mike, was excellent, friendly and completely concerned about safety first. The staff on the phone is always great to deal with too. I'd recommend this company to all my friends and neighbors without hesitation. They have a loyal customer in me!!!

Was completely sick about the loss of our 100+ year old Ash tree thanks to ash borer. Tree was close to house and Davey was able to assure us the work could be done without the worry of damage to our house or the neighbors. They came out as planned and removed the tree in one day. Needed to come back later to grind the stump as planned. My only issue is price. They are much more expensive than other quotes I received but sting was a little less due to their great service. Loved our arborist Nick. Want to mention that they have trained arborists on staff, not just tree removers.

On 6/2/14 I called 3 different tree companies for quotes to have a large maple tree in my front yard trimmed and a total of 10 bushes in the front and sides of my house removed. Two of the companies had someone out the next day, but Davey was unable to send someone out until 6/9/14. Since I needed the work done soon, and the other two quotes were already lower than I expected, I called Davey back on 6/4/14 to cancel my appointment. On both calls on 6/2/14 and 6/4/14 the person on the phone was very nice and professional, though I was surprised why they didn't ask me the reason for my cancellation. If I didn't need the work done ASAP I would have waited the week for the appointment to receive their quote, but I couldn't put this off for an additional week.

They performed the services but not after requiring me to find a fax machine to fax back the signed contracts. Won't know the viability of the full service until I see if the trees live.

I really like the initial evaluation of our needs. Everything was done as promised. One thing I did not like was that they came in the dead of winter to prune our trees. I would have preferred that they come in the late fall or early winter. They did a good job pruning our trees and installing a cable on one tree to prevent a branch from hitting our roof. The only thing I did not like was the cleanup. It was very cold and windy, so I can understand not wanting to stick around long after completion. They left quite a pile of sawdust that we are just now removing and spreading around. I think they could do better with scheduling. Their prices are quite a bit higher than other people we have use, so I am hoping we got more for our money. I would recommend them if you have a substantial budget.

We had used them before to trim our trees and remove dead branches and they did a great job. When our tall evergreen tree started turning brown we called them. I had asked to have them call so I could be there to talk to the arborist. Several days later we received an invoice saying that we had spider mites and they needed to do 2 treatments at $80 each. I called and asked why I wasn't called to meet with the arborist and they apologized. I then asked why did I need 2 treatments. I was told that the first treatment in April would kill the spider mites and the second treatment in October would kill any remaining mites and the eggs. I asked why I couldn't do it myself and was told that the arborist monitors the weather and sprays at the right time. I agreed to pay and the work was performed although they never did call me so I could watch. Everything seemed fine. Just last week I received an invoice from them saying that they recommend that they do 2 more treatments this year. I called and spoke to a secretary who couldn't offer any help but said Joe would call me. I waited 24 hours and no call. I called back and talked to someone who said that the spray doesn't have a lifetime guarantee. I said I understand that but it should last a few months. She told me that spider mites come back frequently and that I would need to spray every year. I told her that I was upset that Joe never called me back and she said she would get ahold of him and have him call me back. He has never called me back. I would expect that if I pay $160 to kill the mites AND they tell me they have to do 2 treatments to make sure they are all dead that they are all dead and I could breathe easy for that year. Their communication is really horrible and you never talk to the same person. I could not recommend them. ***UPDATE**** - ON FEBRUARY 28, 2014, THE MANAGER, SKEET, CALLED ME AND APOLOGIZED FOR ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND EXPLAINED SPIDER MITES IN DETAIL. HE OFFERED TO SPRAY THIS YEAR FOR SPIDER MITES AT NO COST TO ME AND ASSURED ME THAT THE COMMUNICATION WOULD BE GREATLY IMPROVED. I HAVE LIKED WORKING WITH THIS COMPANY IN THE PAST AND AM CONFIDENT THAT THE WILL DO A GOOD JOB.

The whole experience was very professional and well-done.The company responded quickly to my initial phone call and set up an appointment for the next Saturday morning to meet and review my concerns about my elm tree. Nick Saba, the Certified Arborist who came out, was friendly, knowledgeable and informative, but not pushy. The crew that came out to do the trimming was on-time and experienced. My elm tree is quite large and old and was a challenge to climb, but they spent time making sure they did it right and safely. They did an excellent job, were respectful of my neighbors, and did a thorough cleanup afterward.

They are excellent. I’ve never had any problems with any of the work they’ve done. Specifically , I like how they handle my hydrangea trees. I plan on using them to fertilize all six of my trees in the backyard next week.

Everything was good about them. They were neat and clean and they had everything done and didn’t leave a mess.

I felt that the tree trimming and removal of the dead tree went well enough, although I lost half of a dafnia bush that was 6 feet from the dead tree. Apparently something dropped on it (I was not home for this work). The trimmed trees look excellent. The new tree was not planted in the same location as the removed tree, but when I complained, they came and moved the new tree to the correct spot. The real problem happened with the recommended iron injection for my birch. The tree expert explained that the lighter than usual leaves were due to a lack of iron and said the injection would fix it. She gave me no materials about tree injections and did not tell me there would be any dramatic side effects. I simply believed her that this would help the tree and agreed to the treatment. When I returned from some traveling about two weeks after the injection I was aghast to find all of the leaves of the birch brown and dead on the tree. I thought (and remained concerned) that they had killed the tree with the injection. I called the Davey Tree company and the tree expert was extremely dismissive saying "that's what the treatment does and it will be beautiful next spring." I asked her for material about this that would show this was true. She did not send them to me. After prodding, she recommended that I google on certain terms. She absolutely would not guarantee that the tree will come back to full health next spring. On the phone she finally said if the tree was dead they would replace it, but I have received nothing written that says this is true. I still don't know what to think. I may not know until next spring. Even if the tree comes back next spring, I think this was handled extremely badly by Davey Tree company. When the expert recommended the treatment, she should have warned me that the leaves would die off. When I asked for materials explaining the die off, she should have promptly sent them. Her "oh yea, that happens" comments on the phone, the emails telling me to go google for information, and the fact that she would not guarantee that the tree -- which was certainly healthy enough to last the winter before the injection -- would be replaced if it died, all seem very unprofessional. This is the reason I rank this company as a C. I will never use them again and am warning my friends against them.

After a delay in getting someone out to perform the service, the service was performed as agreed. I'd like to see a little more follow up in terms of specific treatment and guarantees.

They are outstanding. Their prices are very fair. We have a service contract with them and we've been using them for several years. They are very prompt and very attentive. They explain everything we want to know about our situation and they treat us with respect.

The fallen tree was cut and removed from our neighbor's yard and stacked in our woods. This company was professional, courteous, and did an excellent job. They responded quickly. We will use them in the future, and highly recommend this company.

Called and spoke with Steve, very pleasant. He was suppose to come out and quote. Never heard back from him. Went elsewhere.

I had a fantastic experience! The crew was very careful. It was a tricky project because the trees were on the back of my lot line. I have neighbors to the rear and on the side. They didn't drop anything but worked very efficiently. I was very impressed!

They came out with their cherry tree picker. I just had to get my neighbors permission for them to use the driveway because I don’t have a very big opening to get into my backyard. They were very professional. I think the workers were very good. They did their job very well. Daniel Richardt was the main arborist. He really knows his trees. I trust him impeccably with my trees because these oaks are at least 50 to 60 years old. I was scared to just use anybody. He really knew what he was doing.

They are very professional. Very knowledgeable staff. Explained everything well. Came right out, and did the work promptly.

They first cut down the old trees. I was amazed with the speed. Pretty much all down and cleaned up with just over an hour. Did a nice job cleaning the yard up afterwards. Planted the newq ones, mulched and gave me instructions on care and were done before the end of the day. Very efficient.

It was quick and I was happy with the service.

I have been using them for twenty years. They also trim trees, but I do not have any trees now where I live, so, I do not need it. Their price depends on what they put on. It could go anywhere from $40 to $60, and then, you can get other stuff too. I think their price is about average for around here though. They are always very courteous and very nice. When we first started using them, we got an awful lot of weed, and they got rid of all the weeds. There are no weeds in my lawn now. They also fertilize it, so, it always looks green. I do not have to keep track of them. They just keep track, come when they say they are going to be here, and the letter I get in the spring. So, they are fine. Their professionalism is very good because when we first moved in here, we had them out here to survey this house, and they were excellent.

Skeet came out and gave us a very thurough overview of our trees and what we needed to do.

Called for an estimate and they came out and met me as opposed to the other companies that came by when I wasn't around and mailed me a quote. I called to schedule the job and they came out but had to reschedule because they needed ComEd to cut the power. The second time the job was postponed because of the weather (Of course the one bad day of inclimate weather in the month of December is on the day they were supposed to come out). On the third try, ComEd came out and cut the power and Care of Trees removed the tree branch and trimmed the tree. I wouldn't have even known they came by except I was home sleeping and they woke me up when they cut the power. Overall, good job, would call them again.

Davey provided efficicient and professional services from the initial on-site estimate/visit, scheduling and actual tree work. We are very satisfied and would use this company in the future.

Dave came out and gave us a estimate on the work. He also agreed with the assessment that the tree couldn't be saved. He spent time going over all the options and explained how they would do the work. I held off for awhile but the plan was always to do the planting in the fall. I emailed him and he was responsive. I faxed in the contract and Dave let me know they would call me when they were close to the appointment which he did. One the specified day the crew showed up and once they were all there they cut down the Ash tree and ground out the stumps. They then planted the other 2 trees. They did go over location with me. They cut away most of the burlap and all of the basket which was good as the the basket on the old tree was still there. I felt they did a great job and were always up front with what should be done. They were also very reasonable with the cost. The mulch they left around the one tree was a bit off center is about the only negative thing I could say. They did miss the anchors they were suppose to put in (the area is windy) but they came back and did it for us no problems. Dave had some good landscaping ideas too that I hope to be able to get to in the near future. Having true tree professionals do the work for what I thought was a very reasonable price was an easy decision for me.
