I called Kramer Tree for an estimate on trimming a large tree, left a message on voice mail, but got no response. I called for the second time and spoke to a woman. She took all my information and told me that I'd be contacted within 7 days. I got no call. I called a third time and told the woman that I had not heard back from the estimator and that the seven days had passed. She said "let me call the estimator and I'll get right back to you." That was four days ago; I still haven't heard a thing. I just called today (early Saturday afternoon) and their office was closed. Frustrating!!

I phoned Kramer Tree Specialists in June because a dead tree in our backyard needed to be cut down and removed. I arranged for an arborist from Kramer to come to our home and give us an estimate. Their estimate for cutting down and removing the tree was $541.00. The estimate was dated June 27, 2013. I phoned the company's office and explained that their price was too high for us. On Angie's List's, Kramer Tree Specialists' listing said to "ask about our coupon." The representative that I spoke to said that the coupon (for 15% off) was only for the off-season. I said that we would have to go with a different tree service. The representative then said that even though June is not off-season, she would give me the 15% discount, and I would receive an e-mail in the next couple days with the 15% discount included on it. This amounted to about $75.00. However, the e-mail that we received the next day from Fran at Kramer Tree Specialists didn't include the 15% discount. I responded to Fran's e-mail, explaining that the other representative offered us a 15% discount, even though it isn't the off-season. The following day, I received an e-mail from Paul Filary stating, "I am following up with you regarding your question about the Winter Discount on the attached proposal. I sincerely apologize for any miscommunication, but this discount is only available for work completed in the winter season which runs from December 1, 2013 thru March 1, 2014." I responded to Mr. Filary's e-mail, explaining that the representative that I spoke to explained this to me, but offered me the 15% discount anyway when I told her that the price was too high for us. Mr. Filary sent me a second e-mail stating again that there was a "miscommunication" and that the price remained $541.00. I'm writing this review not because we didn't find another tree service that charged us a lower rate, because that wasn't a problem. I just believe that this situation could have been handled better. If a representative of a company offers me a lower rate, I take them at their word. If it had been a difference of, say, $300.00 in price, I would have understood Mr. Filary if he apologized for the representative's mistake. However, he didn't even admit that the employee made a mistake. Instead, he called it a "miscommunication," implying that I didn't understand her or some such thing. Mr. Filary also could have said, "Look, our employee made a mistake -- can we reach a compromise? It would only have cost Kramer Tree Specialists $37.50, and would have been fine with my husband and me. We then would have probably given them more business in years to come. The approach that he took ensures that we won't give Kramer Tree Specialists any of our business in the future.

Very prompt in responding to my call. They gave me a written estimate after their rep. inspected my tree and talked to me. My ash tree has Emerald Ash Borer infestation.Their rep was very knowledgeable and professional. I was told it could take 2-3 weeks to get work done due to heavy workload. They were here 9 days later and did a great job.

Kramer responded promptly to our request and sent an arborist out to look at one tree in our back yard that needed to be removed and two others that needed to be treated for applescab. The arborist noted that an ash tree in our back yard was infested with emerald ash borer and also needed to be removed. He also explained that we needed to wait until next spring to treat the apple tres, but that they would benefit from pruning the dead wood caused by the applescab. The quote for the tree removal and pruning was considerably lower than the other estimate I received. When I called to schedule, the arborist, Tim Rickerson explained how the process would work and set the appointment. I received a confirmation call on the morning of the work. The work crew showed up on time and completed the work in about three hours. They cleaned up everything afterwards and were completely professional while they were at our home. The bill was as quoted, no hidden fees or add-on charges. I will be using Kramer to treat my apple trees in the spring and would recommend them to anyone who needs tree work done.

Entire process was perfect. They came out and inspected the ash tree and let me know that it was infested with the ash borer and needed to be removed. I was not able to meet them, but they emailed me with the information. He even recommended a few trees we could replace it with. I set up a time and the team showed up on time and quickly removed the tree. I was amazed by how quickly the team of 3 removed the tree, ground the stump and filled the hole. All the branches and stump grindings (other than what filled the hole) was removed. My house is on a hill with a fence, so they had to carry everything out by hand. I was impressed by the speed with which they removed the tree.

The crabapple tree was losing leaves in the summer. Then Kramer started to spray the tree with a preventive spray in the spring 3 times. Because of the sporadic weather, the times when they sprayed was not regular. When I called they were polite and answered my questions. They tree looked beautiful last year and lasted all summer.

The service was professional from beginning to end. The person who took my phone call gave a helpful overview of the service available, and made an appointment for our situation to be evaluated in preparation for a proposal. Both the proposal and work were done on time. The service was of high quality, including clean-up. This is an established, reputable company that offers high value in its field. Its services are priced accordingly.

Kramer Tree trimmed six trees for us. The branches were too low and some were touching the house. They also cable braced one of the trees so that it would not split. One tree was removed because of significant ash borer damage. They did a great job on the trees and the crew was professional. Everything was cleaned up and taken away. The stump on the removal was ground out the following week and it was also cleaned up and taken away.

I have used this service for many years. They are extremely professional and friendly. They do a great job on the trees and they clean up so well you can't even tell they were there. They cost a bit more than other services but I know they will do a good job. They know what they are doing!

I received an estimate for pruning and treatment of three ash trees for emerald ash borer, and removal of 11 other trees, with stump grinding. The arborist was thorough and professional, but the price was high compared to a competitive estimate.

The jobs were spread out over two weeks. I was very happy with the employees working around the house. The scotch pine which was very close to the house was drooped with no incident. All jobs were cleaned up when finished.

Prompt and courteous service. Very pleased.

They were really great to work with. They were very professional. Their arborist was very knowledgeable. Safety was a big issue for the crew that came out, the way that they had their harnesses and helmets. I think that was very important. They did a good job on my tree. They were very fairly- priced. In their home office, scheduling was an issue. I was going out for an appointment one morning and all of a sudden I hear the rumble of a big truck. Nobody called me. They have a little internal thing but it did not affect the quality of their work.

Always responsive over the phone and someone always got back to me fast. Polite. Reasonable. They did the work and then came and collected the money about a week later as it suited my schedule. They were the most responsive of the three different companies I contacted and I thought they did a great job. Would definitely use them again.

It was done so good that I didn't notice it was completed. It was a great sign of a good business. I did have one question abuot a tree trimming they did and they returned and trimmed it at no additional cost.

They showed up when they promised and did a great job. They also cleaned up after themselves. I have hired them to take down another tree in a few months.

They had the best estimate and reputation. They were so good, we did not notice that our tress where trimmed until 3 days later. Kramer cleaned up after themselves and left no indication that they where there.

I contacted three companies for bids to remove this tree. One vendor refused the job, telling me that the tree could not be removed safely. Kramer's gave me the best price, including a senior discount. Kramer's arborist Frank Saupp set up the initial appointment promptly and arrived on time. He explained exactly how the work would be done and reassured me that the tree could be removed safely despite its status and location. Communication with Frank and the Kramer's office staff was excellent whether via phone or e-mail. The crew arrived within the designated time frame and worked very efficiently using a crane to access the tree. The crew members were professional,efficient, and pleasant to deal with. I would not hesitate to call Kramer's again.

The experience was great, I had multiple estimates, Kramer was by far the lowest, they were professional and courteous. They were very knowledgeable in explaining what I could expect from the bracing . I would definitely use them again.

When I first reached out to Kramer's Tree Service, they would not provide and estimate for less than $75. After visiting the property, they sent me an annual estimate for over $1600 a year. I have 9 tree's. How can one company do this work for $300 a year (TruGreen) and Kramer need over $1600? Proceed with caution.

Fast response for estimate; reasonable estimate; prompt action on project; no collateral damage; prompt and complete cleanup.

They did a good job. They did what they were supposed to do. The job turned out fine. We didn't compare their price.

They had to go up the tree. They did indicate that it had to be done in winter because there was a danger of disease if it was done in spring or fall. They were right on about whatever they said. We noticed in the spring that they had missed out a few because it was real hard to tell in winter for sure that some of the smaller branches were dead. They came out and took those off and carefully treated the tree so that it wouldn’t have any disease. They were responsive when we called them and said that they had missed a few branches. They were very good. They came out when they could and they certainly did the job. They trimmed two big trees and we were very happy. Their price was fair.

The arborist, Mike, came out in about a week, which for the time of year, I thought was pretty reasonable.The American Linden had a few things going on and the arborist took a sample to check for a fungus. About 2 weeks later, he called to ask us if he could come out a few more times to check on the Linden beforesuggesting any kind of chemical treatment, if it indeed needed it. At that time he recommended one Ash be taken down, but had said the other had a good chance of surviving with treatment. He explained the two types of treatments. About a 2 weeks later the company sent an estimate for the treatment they recommended and the cost. I thought it very reasonable. He came out a second time to look at the Linden and spoke with my husband about it. As we are going through a tough heat wave,he recommended that we water the tree to help de-stress it. I am very happy with the service. The arborist who came out and who we spoke with seemed very knowledgable and not quick to just recommend chemicals to take care of the trees.
