This project began as a stressful nightmare one year ago with a different company who rebuilt the East parapet. It was the biggest and most expensive work we three owners have had to deal with. We were not happy with the previous work and were fortunate to find RC Tuckpointing to complete the job. They were awesome from the get go. Professional and dependable, they showed up when they promised, did a fantastic job and gave us a fantastic deal. Chris, part of the father and son team, is a great guy. I would recommend them with confidence and have them back for future work in a heart beat! I am sorry it took me so long to write this review but it is definitely well deserved!

Ironically, we hired Rand C to prevent possible leaks through our parapet walls, but it was after their work that we got several leaks. Rand C performed the work in September 2012; the following January, we had new leaks in the top unit directly beneath the area where Rand C had removed the flashing and tuckpointed the parapet walls.
When we informed Rand C about this by phone, they at first denied the leaks were related to their work and blamed them on an old leak we had in a separate location via an HVAC pipe. (Soon after, our HVAC technician fixed that leak by patching the HVAC pipes in the roof.) But when Rand C showed up and saw the new leaks, they then told us they would repair their own work, without admitting any blame. This would have been fine—but this year we've had yet more leaks in the same exact location. Again, this area never leaked prior to Rand C's work. We once again called Rand C, who came out, looked at our parapet walls, and told us the walls looked fine to them. This time they blamed the exteriors of the parapet walls, saying water may have entered that way.
Exacerbated, we called several other masons and roofers to assess the problem. All 10 of them told us the same thing: Rand C had done a poor job. One roofer called the work and quot;amateurish.and quot; These people told us that, when Rand C removed the flashing, they simply exposed decayed brick that let in water and they did not sufficiently rebuild or tuckpoint the parapet walls to prevent leaks.
We don't think these companies were telling us this just to drum up business for themselves. In fact, the roofers said they could not do the brick work and that we would need masons to take care of it. And again, all 10 of these professionals had the same negative assessment of Rand C's work.
What makes this even more upsetting is that, when Rand C first removed the flashing and saw the poor quality of the bricks, the company charged us an additional $3,000 to repair them, bringing the total cost from $3,500 to $6,500. In the end, we spent $6,500 to get new leaks we never had.
To fix the problem once and for all, we had to find a professional company that actually knows what it's doing. That clearly isn't Rand C.

"We did come out numerous of times to address the problem. We did rebuild the East inner parapet wall , but not the North inner parapet wall because condo association did not want to spend additional money at that time. Water was coming through the HVAC location and that was fixed by HVAC company. These leaks that we're happening on the North side that started almost 7mo after we completed the original work. Sorry that this was happening."

It went fine. There were some additional charges because the job was bigger than the coupon. They were good but there was a small problem which I cannot recall. But I called them and they fixed the problem.

NOT GOOD. Never using these daily deals ever again

"The work consisted of setting up a swing stage scaffold, which involved an additional cost. I told the customer to contact Angie's List for the refund via email and phone call. (which he never did) I NEVER took any money for this job since we did not do any work."

Chris was very professional. He came to estimate, quick turaround on the estimate and was in constant contact on scheduling a time to do the job. The company stands by their service and made sure I understood the work was guaranteed and to call Chris if any issues came up.

Took many weeks for them to actually come out, and after explaining that they received only 40% of the $100 deal, they advised me on future tuckpointing needs - including some areas to be left alone - and fixed a few cracks with temporary goo. seemed knowledgeable and reasonable..
Response from R & C TUCKPOINTING, INC.
"The cracks were fixed with "Vulkem 116" Limestone color caulk. This was used on expansion joints where the sidewalk meets the house foundation, and on limestone pieces where cracks were. This was a temporary fix to slow down cracks from getting wider and deeper."

OMG - what a wonderful experience this was!! they came out and was able to do the job that day. as soon as they heard that we got their name from Angie's list, they immediately adjusted the price by 20%. Really nice, professional, and did just a great job. You can't go wrong with these guys!!!!

Chris and his workers did a good job. Work was done quickly and efficiently with minimal fuss. Scaffolding was set up on a Monday and they were finished by Wednesday or Thursday. My only (minor) complaint was lack of proactive communication at the end of the project. No one contacted me to let me know the work was finished, and I had to call them to verify it was finished and get a report on the work completed. It would have been nice if Chris or someone on the team had contacted me the day the work finished or the day after.

Everything was fine. They got it done quickly in two days. They really did a nice job. The price was fair. I needed the work to be done in a hurry. They were reasonable for what I expected. The guy was out here the same day I called.

Rich and Chris came over for the estimate and worked within my schedule for a time that was easiest for me. They had a written proposal sent to me within a day. Even though it took me a while to get the funds and also review the other estiamtes, once I gave Chris the word I wanted to move forward with the job he worked me into their production schedule. After telling me it would take at least two weeks to complete (with possible weather delays) they finished on time and without any "surprises".

I think they did very well. They came, did the job and did it as quietly as they could. They were very nice and it was no trouble at all. I would recommend them. Their price was fair. Everything seems good in terms of quality of work. They did it in about a day and a half. They responded quickly. They were very good in terms of punctuality. They were very professional. I would use their services again in the future.

I thought they did a very good job. They didn't show up one day and didn't return my call when they didn't show up. Then they called me back the next day and came out to finish the work. He said the weather wasn't good enough that day to work. The work was fine; perfect. I will use them again in the future.

Chris was referred by a friend and did a solid job at a reasonable price. Other estimates might have been more through but Chris was practical and only estimated what was immediately needed. I am satisfied with the work and feel I did not need more work suggested by others. But he did address a couple of small issues that I requested on the roof and one of which he did not charge.

In the process of getting estimates on replacing a very old flat roof on a graystone building the roofer advised me that I should have repair work on the masonry on the parapet wall before installing a new roof. I contacted four masonry companies to inspect and give me estimates on the necessary work. Estimates on cost and scope of work varied widely, ranging from $7,000 to $15,000 dollars. Finally, I called the roofer and asked him if he could recommend anyone that they had worked with. He put me in touch with Chris at R and C Tuckpointing. Chris came out and personally inspected the roof and gave me an estimate on what he thought would be the required scope of work. The roof must be removed before an accurate determination can be made on what needs to be repaired. The masonry repairman and roofer work very closely together and alternate with their time on the roof (remove the roof, repair the masonry, replace the roof). So it is important to have a tuckpointer and roofer that work together to get the job completed in a minimum amount of time. I was very pleased with the work done and the cost only exceeded the original estimate by $200. All the roof and masonry work was completed in four days from start to finish.
