I was having my tub reglazed while I was at work and my son was at home to be there for the tub refinisher guy-the tub became clogged and in turn the clean out on the floor started to over flow and the bathroom sink became clogged. the Tub re glaze guy tried to fix the prob but could not. From work I called 4 other companies on Angie's List one company wanted $49 to walk in the door and $246 for the first hour and that was for the next day during normal business hours. All the companies that I contacted wanted me to use emergency" time and half "service for later in the day(I was calling around at 1 in the afternoon) One company told me they could do it and they would call me back, but after waiting almost 2 hours and still not getting a call back I called them to have the lady tell me there was nothing they could do for me-she said they did not want to tell me no in the beginning because they never say no to new business!-MD Plumbing answered the phone when I called responded within 2 hours of my call, repaired the problem in one hour and charged me a very fair price that was not an emergency rate-they are Rock Stars!- I never had to come home from work they just handled the problem, delt with my son and cleaned up the mess! I would totally recommend MD Plumbing.

I telephoned 4pm Friday night and by 5.15pm that same night they came out to inspect the work. They made an appointment and came back at the appointed time. Overall I was pleased with the work and the friendliness of the workers.

Excellent service. He answered phone when I called, and found time in his schedule that same day. Very professional and great communicator. Conscientious. (Wore footies over his boots). Explained the problem. Trouble shooted the source of the clog. Recommending to all my girlfriends. Very fair price. Will totally use him again for all my plumbing needs.

We have been extremely pleased with the level of service provided by MD plumbing. On Mark's first job with us, he was installing a new vent. He and a co-worker installed the PVC in our attic, but drew the line at the roof. This was upfront. He simply told us that he did not work above the roofline for safety reasons. No problem, we had a roofer who could install the last piece. Well, to avoid our getting gouged by the roofer, who was an unknown quantity, Mark bought and delivered the part to us at cost (I looked it up.) While we don't expect that kind of beyond the call of duty service every time, it sold us on this company. They have been doing prompt, solid work for us ever since.

Mark returned my call from his voice mail promptly and scheduled the work to accomodate my schedule with no problem. His plumber and assistant arrived exactly at the scheduled time. They were friendly and efficient and had all the work done in about a half hour.

Mark Du Vall came out the next day (i think it was a week-end) because the toilet was still not working right. he put WD40 on the chain. It is still not working right and he said if that didn't work, I should buy a new toilet or look for vintage parts. The cartridge stopped working because it was clogged. he said the plumber he sent was good but lacked patience and didn't get all the grit out from the old faucet cartridge. When I went under the sink, I found that the cabinet was full of water, that had not been wiped up. if I hadn't found it that early, the cabinet would have warped. He tries to save you money, but I would prefer the men to take their time and get it right. So now I have paid 2 plumbers and my toilet still needs to be double flushed every 3rd or 4th time. I do have to give him credit for immediately coming out to correct the problem.

We have known Marc for years and he is a personal friend of ours. That being said I do not always hire my friends to do work in my house as I have very high standards. MD Plumbing has consistently done an excellent job. In this case he was able to detect and repair a leak under our sink, clean out the drains and replace a faucett. Other work we have had done in the past includes water heater replacement, service calls for clogged toilets and once we even got him to visit my in-laws on Christmas day when someone clogged up the pipes with potatoe peels! I would recommend MD Plumbing to anyone for the quality of work and timeliness.

We couldn't have been more delighted. When called they estimated the job on the phone at about $200 but cautioned that if they needed more time, it cost would be somewhat higher. They came within the hour and the two men worked in the cold at the front yard clean out. The catch basin was full and began to drain when they worked at the front yard. But when we ran water into the catch basin, the flow was backed up again. They took extra time to rod from the catch basin which is a difficult angle and most unpleasant. We truly appreciated the extra attention to the catch basin. The catch basin is in need of shoring up or being bypassed. They are willing to give estimates for two possible solutions. They were not hard sell, and we respected their opinions and look forward to their estimates on the work that probably should be done in the near future. Both men were careful to prevent dirty footprints and tidied up the work site. The final cost was $315 and we were please with the cost and the work.

My house was built in 1894. Over the past few months the water in the sink of the second floor bathroom drained more and more slowly , until it entirely stopped draining . I use this bathroom but very sporadically. I knew the issue must be in a part of the pipe that is inside the wall. I chose this contractor because of the excellent reviews he received on Angie's List. I contacted Marc around 10 a.m. He and his helper came out the same day, around 02:30 pm, even though I told him that my issue was not an emergency. They were very personable and professional. They helped me remove a number of 100-500 yr old paintings from the wall in the room beneath the bathroom, in order to prevent water damage to the art , should the pipe break .They rodded the lavatory drain and the bath tub drain, clearing the obstruction, caused by rust, at the drum trap. They removed a plastic disc from airaetor. Marc was very careful in executing the rodding , cognizant of the age of the house and trying to avoid damage to the pipe or a need to open the wall. After removal of the rust, they tested the system and it worked fine. They cleaned up the dirt left in the tub by the cleaning process. Marc also inspected a few other, smaller plumbing issues in the house for me, and advised me on what needs to be done to fix them. They subsequently helped me hang up my paintings again and move my furniture back in its place. This was a truly painless experience; a job well done by a very knowledgeable , experienced and personable person. I am so glad I found this plumber and I would recommend him to anyone who has an old, historic home. I appreciated his honesty as well, and the fact that he was transparent about the cost.

Mark, the owner, was very professional and helpful. He always either answered my calls or called me back very quickly. He also interacted well with the plumbing inspector. Because of the previous plumbing, Mark had to climb and work in a very small crawl space. I couldn't have asked for a better plumbing crew. It's easy to recommend them!

Went very well. Called back within 20 minutes, gave a ballpark estimate over the phone and came right over the next day. Were one hour late, but called to tell me they would be late. Were very professional and quick, and the price was in the middle of the range they estimated it would be. Will use them again.

The bill Included a grand total of $84.85 in materials. The rest was for labor, including the time it took the plumber to drive from the office in Skokie to Evanston and from our home in Evanston to the plumbing supply store and back. Labor included $90/hour for the plumber and $40/hour for an assistant who, when we were in the house, was seen doing practically nothing. ("Oh, but we also work in teams," we were told.) A complete rip off! Before you think that we are uninformed consumers, it should be said that we have used M.D. Plumbing twice in the past. One of the jobs was relatively major. And we paid LESS to have a new kitchen sink, new facets, new instant hot wate, and new garbage disposal installed in 2006 that we paid this week to have two toilets routed, one faucet greased (it still sticks), two leaking faucets easily repaired (the water pressure of one is now low), and 2" X 2" tile tub tile section removed near the master bug valve to be tightened. Past work is apparently no longer a guarantee in today's recession. Buyer Beware! There are scores of reliable and fair plumbers out there. M.D. PLumbing and Sewer in NOT one of them.

I had a problem with the basement backing up and flooding. So, they came out right away, figured out what the problem was and took care of the problem. They were very clean and neat. It was kind of a messy job and they cleaned up after themselves. I previously used them probably six months prior to that to do some plumbing work in the house like replacing a toilet and working on a shower and they were very professional. I am actually planning to use them again.

It took two men more time than I thought it would, but that just seems to be the way it goes with plumbing work. It is seldom less than 2-3 hours to do anything. When, after installation, I had some trouble getting the retractable faucet to retract, Mark was here the same day to check it out. He also took some time, on his dime, to look at a couple of other things with me in the house. When Mark came back to check out this issue, we discovered a leak in dishwasher drain hose. This leak is not his fault - old hose. And they did not mess with that hose when they installed the sink. Still, for the hours spent, I would have hoped they would have done an inspection of everything under the sink. I suspect there is someone out there who is less expensive, but with Mark and his staff, overall, I felt that I received fair value.

I hired MD plumbing because of their great ratings on Angie's List, and they did good quality work. Their labor charges are very reasonable, too. My B rating of the overall experience is due to the amount I paid for videotaping and locating the main sewer line. Because MD Plumbing does not have their own video equipment, they had to charge me for the rental. Marc did tell me at the time I was scheduling service that the charge for the live videotaping would be $275, plus extra for equipment that would produce an actual videotape and then more for locating the pipe underground. Then there was some other charge at the last minute, and the equipment rental ended up being $400 (labor was only $300). Finally, when the camera reached the area where the tree roots had infiltrated, it was submerged, and the videotape shows nothing of the problem area. I should have done more research about what other plumbing firms charge for videotaping instead of focusing only on reviews. Again, I do want to reiterate that the labor part of the project was fine, and I would recommend this contractor for other jobs that don't require videotaping equipment.

I first called to have the grohe shower fixed because the temperature of the water would not stay constant. It would vary from cold to scalding on a fixed position. The minimal turn of the temp dial would again only vary from cold to scalding which made the shower unusable. I had previously attempted to have the shower repaired when at that time the shower had only cold water. That plumber created the condition described above. He got me hot water--temporarily followed by cold water again. He charged me $900.00. Mark was very punctual. He listened to my description of the problem. Investigated the shower and decided on the diagnosis. He called around to find the right cartridge to repair the problem and even gave me the option as to running the clock (to drive up the price for his services) or wait until he could secure the needed cartridge on his own time. He found the correct cartridge for my old grohe shower installed and calibrated it. My shower so far works great. They charged me about $600 including the cartridge which was $300 for which Mark shopped around for between plumbing supply stores. After he had fixed the shower, I asked him about my sewer drains. About 2 years ago I had a major issue with my drainage system which led to flooding of my house and basement. The contractor who helped fix my situation recommended that I rod my drains annually. I live in house with a flat roof with about five drains on the roof. The drains were reportedly clogged as the etiology for my inside house wetness. The were rodded from the roof about 2 years ago. I asked Mark should I be concerned and should they be re-rodded. Mark even though constantly being called about another pending job investigated. He discovered the my drains were not flowing as the should. He also questioned the validity of power rodding from the proximal site versus the distal site, ie from the roof versus closer to the sewer. Mark along with his assistances, David and Shawn came to power rod distally. All again were courteous, punctual and professional. Again you did not have to ask them to take off their shoes in your house, they did. They were very concerned about not making a mess and did not. They did the rodding, double and triple checked that the problem was solved. They cleaned up afterwards. For this they also charged about $600 for about 3 1/2 hours worth of work. I could not have been more impressed. I will use them for all my future plumbing needs. They are the best.

Earlier I used to use another company which merged with a bigger company. Their prices were too high. MD Plumbing came and did the same job for about half the price. They did a great job. There was only one problem. When they fixed the sink faucet, it did not have enough pressure. They tried to rectify it. Then I bought a better faucet and had them come back to fix it. I had to pay for the installation back and forth. I don’t remember how much we paid because they did the plumbing job and were supposed to come back to do the sewer part.

The shower faucet was leaking in my rental unit so it needed to be fixed right away. After calling 3 plumbers all Angie's list highly rated, Marc responded immediately, told me on the phone even before coming what to possible reasons might be (shower was new), and came within an hour. He found that the handle calibration was off and fixed it immediately. He was professional, extremely smart, very prompt (came of a Saturday and did not charge for emergency call). I would definitely definitely recommend him and use him in the future.

Mike was professional, timely, and knowledgeable. Wish we would have had more information about the hot water heater that was installed before it was installed (e.g. warranty, quality of the unit) but I'll take blame for not having asked the right questions. Everything was accomplished quickly and professionally.
