Sean and an assistant came on time on the day I scheduled with Mark Duvall the previous week. An old window well drain (located in our basement) kept filling up with water when we would get a significant rainstorm After about 2.5 hours, they cleared out the drain of dirt and gravel with a vacuum and other equipment. Water now freely empties down the drain, so I don't have to run downstairs anymore to bail out the water with a bucket.

Sewer plugged up due to roots. While I was showering my wife said water was coming out of basement drain. Although I removed the clog with a snake, we called these guys to do a more thorough job by roto cutting out the sewer pipe. Choose MD Plumbing due to experience on Angie's List. Excellent job. Very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and complete. Did not dirty up my floors or home.

Excellent. Another highly rated company had proposed a much more expensive solution to the pooling of water in the valve vault (a cistern-like compartment under basement floor). M. D. responded promptly; came to assess situation; and within less than a week did the work described above in about two hours. Even after prolonged rains the last couple of days the vault is completely dry. We are very grateful and pleased.

Mark initially estimated $110 for the service call to locate the pipe and said they might need to rent equipment if the location was not obvious but if that was the case, that we would not be charged for the first service call. Plumbers arrived promptly but could not locate the pipes with confidence by eye so they determined it was necessary to rent equipment and come back another day. At that time we were told the cost would be $110 for the service call and another $150 for the equipment rental. We decided to go ahead with the work. The plumbers arrived promptly and were very professional. However, the surprise came when we got the invoice for the work and were charged $330 instead of the $260 we were quoted. We talked to Mark about the bill and he said the extra charge was for additional travel time to pickup the rented equipment. We were disappointed with the extra charges which should have been included in the original estimate or mentioned as the travel was a foreseeable part of the job. The job went smoothly and we were satisfied with the work. I just wish we had gotten a firm quote in writing before the job started which could have avoided all of this confusion. We originally went with MD because their first estimate was lower than another company but the final cost ended up being much higher. MD had also quoted a previous job and were much higher than the other plumbers we used. Based on these experiences, we will not be using MD again.

Overall, we were extremely pleased. The pricing was competitive and the work was thorough. The coordination of activity with the city was key as in my personal experience getting permits, etc. can be painful. Marc and his brother Shawn were both professional and extremely personable. I am going to use them again in the near future to install a back up pump in my basement.

MD Plumbing & Sewer were really great. The guy came out on time and was really nice. I don't remember exactly how much I paid but I remember it was reasonable.

MD Plumbing was very good. They arrived right on time for their appointments, completed the work in a timely fashion, and were cordial and respectful. Their prices were very reasonable, and they explained everything thoroughly both over the phone and in person. Their invoices were detailed and precise. I had an excellent experience with them.

He is a very nice young man, and he certainly seems to know his business. He does not give off the impression that he is trying to sell me anything. We have only run into problems because of the age of my plumbing, but other than that, I was very impressed with him.

The guys arrived early; conducted a thorough check of all the bathroom fixtures; re-packed a valve in the shower, pulled the toilet and re-set the ring. Walk me through the repairs required, performed the work, and cleaned up.

I liked the positive comments that they had on Angie's List. I liked that they took upon themselves to investigate the situation thoroughly. They performed the work in a reasonable amount of time.

Marc was very helpful over the phone and suggested that I could save money by picking up the part I would need based on my description of the problem. They ended up not using that part but it was an inexpensive part and I appreciate the thought. The guys did the best they could with my 25 year old Kohler faucet (which another plumber said could not be fixed) and solved the toilet problem.

They were professional. They came when they said they were going to come. I would recommend them to people to do their sewer lines.

We felt that they were honest in telling us that we didn't need extensive work done. They said that if we had anymore problems they could come rot it out and not charge us for another service call. The owner of the company when I first called didn't answer, but he saw my number and called me back within ten minutes and that was appreciated.

The price was reasonable, and they seemed very honest. I would use them again in the future and have already recommended them to others.

Mark showed up on short notice which was appreciated. Unfortunately he accidentally dropped a part and it ended up in my ejector pump pit. Mark and his assistant spent 30+ minutes trying to fish it out and ended up doing so but charged me for the time to correct his error. What should have been a simple repair for any plumber took too long due to their error, even though he admitted it, he still charged me for his mistake. Not cool.

They arrived earlier than we had established, but they had called and gotten permission. Process went smoothly. It didn't honestly seem like a two person job, which confused me a bit, since they only originally came to unclog the drain, but I was satisfied overall.

Over the years, our attached garage and the room above it had subsided because they were built on a pad rather than a full foundation. A McMansion was built next door and the village allowed the owners to forgo putting in a swale along the property line based on their representations that their property would be graded so that storm water would drain to a collection tank in their backyard. Instead, their water drained to the low spot adjacent our house and we began getting water in our basement during major storms. The "neighbors" refused to remediate the problem, so we developed a plan to protect our basement by raising a sidewalk and putting a shed on a built-up pad over the low area where the water was entering the basement. As a condition of issuing the construction permit, Winnetka required that we submit a dye test proving that water from our gutters was directed to the village storm water system and not to the sewage system. This was MD's first experience with dye testing, but they contacted the village to find out what was needed, got the job done, and issued the certificate. I got my permit. The reason the price for this work was so high was that I had asked them also to rod the drain lines so they sent two men. After doing the dye test, they advised me that water was running well through the drains and that the drains didn't need rodding. However, I was charged $75 for rental of the rodding equipment they had brought with them.

The only glitch that came up was that the installation kit, which I had purchased with the toilet, did not fit and they had to go to the store to get the right parts. I think they accidentally took the kit I had bought, though, because I wanted to return it and couldn't find it. Other than that, everything turned out great.

I got the feeling they roped me in with a reasonable cost the first year, then severely raised prices the 2nd year. Service call price went up 22.2% (from $90 to $110 for 1st half hour) plus additional plumber labor for 1/2 hour now $90 plus labor went up from $30 to $40 (a 33% increase). When I questioned it, the response was "That's the way it is". Of course the work was done by then, so I had to pay. Lesson learned; don't assume the company's still reasonable, ask for rates before they come out. This is unfortunate since I'd hoped I found a good plumber for life.

I waited the required 72 hours before using the tub. When I did finally use it, I noticed that the caulk was not adhering properly. I called the company to complain and was told that they are plumbers, not tile workers. They were just being nice to do the caulking. When I said the job was not done correctly, the $70 for the caulking was refunded to me.

I was very impressed with how helpful. They were they came out right away the same day they gave me advice on what I can do to keep it from getting clogged in the future. I thought they were very good, honest, and competent.

Pretty well. Marc said it was a bigger job than he had thought because matching new pipes to the old ones was difficult, but he still finished in about 2.5 days as he indicated. Marc did charge us a little more than the initial estimate, but the job was pretty extensive and he made a good case. Also, they returned after the cement dried and did a pretty thorough final clean up.

The price was high, but the work was quality. They were very professional and they got the jobs done very quickly.

His price was actually much lower than I expected it to be because I helped. He was a very nice guy and a pleasure to deal with. He was a very good plumber and seemed like he had a lot of experience
