It has been a year since we had the drain tile installed in my mother-in-law’s house. Her home is almost a hundred years old, and she is in an area that is prone to flooding. Prior to the work being done she was getting water even during moderate rain-fall, and there was a persistently musty smell in the basement. Just after installation we had the wettest spring, summer, and fall on record. She had not a single drop of water in the basement! We are very pleased with the work, the professionalism of the salesperson, and the workers who came and installed. The price was a little higher than some of the other estimates, but lower than others. It was worth it to us to have the job done right...and it was.

When your basement floods it is a very stressful time and I am so grateful that the first phone call I made was to US Waterproofing. Jose came out right away and quickly diagnosed what happened (Sump Pump failure) and then took me through all the options -- Good, Better, Best to fix it. I ended up going with the Better option. They scheduled the work quickly and I was very happy with the professionalism of the 3 installation people that came out led by Mauricio who installed a new sump pump and a battery backup sump pump so that I have insurance in case the main sump pump fails or there is a power issue. Could not be more satisfied with US Waterproofing. I highly recommend them!

It went terrible. Just pumped an inch and a half of water out of the basement they waterproofed. The fine print said they just had to get the water to a sump hole. I didn’t know that I hadn’t contracted to have the water diverted from the sump hole to outside the house. They got me on that one. My bad. Don’t hire these people. Choose someone else and go over the fine details before hiring anyone. These people are hucksters.

They did the work ok, one crack still leaking and tried numerous times calling for service to come back and rework the crack but the warranty department keeps hanging up when I tell them the trouble I'm having. Talked to Jose Magana (salesman) numerous times, left messages, said he would call back--never did , I had to call him back three or four times only to finally have warranty department call me back and hang up or get disconnected with no call back. I called them again a couple times with same result --hangup or disconnect. Once they have your money they no longer care about your issues. Terrible!

We had US Waterproofing seal several basement cracks. The salesman was very professional and the men who did the crack filling were prompt and efficient. This was only completed 10 days ago, so at this point it is unknown how effective it is, until after we have lots of rain.

Work went smoothly: (1) Old sump pump was replaced with new battery backup sump pump system. USW extended sump pump warranty to 4 years from manufacturer's 3 years. Sump pump has been working fine since installation. It is much quieter than old sump pump. At my request, technician installed new cover over sump pit. (2) Four cracks in foundation were sealed by epoxy/ urethane injection. We have had considerable rain on two occasions since the injection with no evidence of water or moisture in former crack areas.

Concrete Leveling
It didn't. We had an estimate for the work with a diagram of what was needed. A deposit was given at the time the order was placed. Once the technician showed up to do the work he said that the estimate would not cover the problems because the estimate was wrong. The technician measured the additional area and made a phone call. The answer was that the additional work which involved less than one third of the driveway was going to cost more than 50% more. That was not acceptable so we said no and they left. Trying to get our deposit back was a real problem. I called and explained what happened and was told that someone would contact us. We did get a very vague voice mail message a few days later. I called the number that was left in the voice mail but it went to voice mail there. I explained why I called and left my call back information. Two days later after no return call I called again. Then again the next day and again the next day and finally a forth day with absolutely no response. I had to resort to disputing the claim on my charge card with VISA to get any action. I have used US Waterproofing before for basement leaks and they were great. That is why I chose them for this project. Now I doubt I'd ever use them again for anything.

Barry and Lance came out promptly and answered all my questions and explored various options and the pros and cons of each. They were flexible to work within our budget. The installers were friendly, worked diligently, and did a quality job. I even had some questions after the job was done and Barry and Lance came out again right away and addressed my request without issue. I continue to happily recommended them to anyone in need of a trusted expert in the waterproofing field.

If I had not had that put in, I would have been flooded a couple of weeks ago when we had water drainage here. I didn't compare the price to anything. I didn't take any other prices, so I don't know if that was a good price or not. It seems to be fine. It hasn't been in very long, but the sump pump works great. They were here right away. They did the work just like they said they would do it, in the time they said they would do it. Their work is guaranteed, so if something were to go wrong, I could call them and they would fix it.

The pipe breaking and being fixed we felt was very gracious on their part. Other than that, so far, so good on everything else. There is some dirt up that they said would go down over time.

Worst experience I've ever had with any kind of home repair. I would NEVER use or recommend US Waterproofing. Had a horrible experience & am extremely disappointed with them. The only reason they are getting a D- rating is because I have to say they were the most thorough of all the companies we had out during the initial inspection of our seepage issues in our basement [however 2 inspectors showed up & both failed to realize that the trouble area was with slab concrete & not the foundation like what we thought. They are the supposed foundation experts, not us]. We signed a contract & paid our deposit & then they renigged on us, standing us up twice, leaving us high & dry with no communication, no follow through, no alternative suggestions and a gaping hole in our cement right outside our door, which is the primary door we use to enter/exit our house, backyard & garage. And by gaping hole, I mean an 8' sidewalk section that they busted up and dug 2' down before realizing that there was no foundation in that particular area of our house, unbeknownst to us. We had US Waterproofing out on a Monday morning per what was scheduled. After they busted up the concrete & dug down, they saw that it was a concrete slab in that section rather than foundation. The crew said they couldn't complete the work & they left before filling in one minor crack in the basement that they were supposed to do that day. My husband contacted our advisor, John, who came to our house to inspect the dug out area. He told my husband that they've seen that before & he offered a solution in the way of adding steel mesh and filling in with concrete before finishing the job. We were satisfied with this alternate method and were ready to proceed with the work as discussed and scheduled. They were supposed to return on Wednesday but failed to show. When I called US Waterproofing to get an ETA, the woman I spoke to (very rude by the way), said that they didn't have anyone scheduled to come until Friday. I followed up with my husband who was surprised to find out that I was told that no one was scheduled to come on Wednesday. He then proceeded to call John that morning , to follow up directly with him, but our advisor failed to return our phone call until my husband called again. A day & a half later was when he returned our call. This time we were told that they were scheduled to arrive Friday between 8-9:30 am. In true fashion, they failed to come to our house within the promised time frame. When my husband called after 9:30 am to get their ETA this time, he was told that they are not showing up and instead backing out of the contract. Imagine our shock. Apparently John over-promised & that's how we were left high & dry. They did not offer any solutions or explanations other than that they don't do slab work. They said that they would return to refill in the cement outside our door, would fill the crack in the basement as a "courtesy" to us (which by the way occurred one month later after follow up calls from us) & would refund our deposit (which by the way, I had to make yet another follow up call to demand my refund). As much as I would've loved for them to fill in the concrete ASAP, we still had to get someone out to inspect the area underneath the house where they were supposed to work. So we had to live with this gaping hole for close to 2 weeks with no work done on it. Sadly, as Angie's List members, we thought we made the right decision by going with a well known, supposedly reputable company that had an A rating and boasts "coveted awards in service & an A+ rating with BBB". What they failed to mention is that their communication sucks (with the exception of them repeatedly contacting us prior to us signing the initial contract, just to make the sale. However, once we signed the contract, all communication ceased & only happened if we instigated it.). Aside from the poor communication, the follow through was appalling. We were left with a bunch of empty promises & frustration. Oh, and we also went through the financing process, so now there's a hit on our credit report for financing we'll never use. It's one thing to explain to your customer that after digging, only to find slab instead, that you don't do that type of work. It's entirely another thing however, to pull out of a contract after making promises, leaving no other options/recommendations and not communicating. Did they honestly think that customers would be fine with a company standing us up twice only to bail at the last minute?!? So there you go, fellow Angie's List members. That was our awesome experience with this supposedly excellent company. We have to wonder why these so called "foundation experts" didn't suspect slab instead of foundation in this particular area of the house. It ended up taking a full month to finally finish the "courtesy" work with numerous phone calls on our part just to get them to return. So essentially, we waisted a very stressful month to get us basically back to where we started. Take away what you will from my experience. Needless to say, I would NEVER consider them for any other job nor recommend them to anyone. All I can say is if you do decide to go with them, best of luck to you & hopefully you don't have to deal with this same nightmare we had to on our home while using this company.

They came at the scheduled time and the guy was very nice. He pointed out another crack that would likely need to be injected in the future, so we had him go ahead and take care of it while he was there. Sadly, the next time it rained, the cracks seeped again. They are returning to fix, as their injections have a lifetime warrant. Which is great, but it's annoying to have to clear out a crawl space repeatedly. I have to note, I had to choose between yes and no if I would hire again. I am not sure if I would. I guess it depends on how the next round goes.

The sales person was great and gave me several options for fixing my problem. The crew showed up ahead of time on the scheduled day of service. My only challenges were that I wasn't given the date of service I requested and was told I could have. I ended up having to take time off from work to be home while the work was done, which is what I was trying to avoid by choosing a Saturday. I also didn't like that I had to call the morning of service to confirm the time the crew would arrive. While I was happy they arrived early, I wasn't ready to receive them when they did arrive. So communication can improve. But the service and the product are great.

I called US Waterproofing. They were able to schedule me quickly and sent tech John Shea, who arrived promptly. He was very methodical and logical about going down a list of possible causes. The 3rd thing he tried was testing whether a long drain outside the building was clogged. Another contractor (see Trojan Plumbing review) had said the drain was fine by just looking and not testing. After John told me the drain was clogged I took off all the covers. It was completely clogged. I ended up taking 5 gallons of sludge out of the trough and another 2 out of the drain where i could reach. The next day I had a plumber rod the drain 25 ft. and he took another 3 gallons of sludge out. The drain runs fine now and a couple of light rains have caused no problem. John was with me over an hour and did not charge a dime.

The actual work to waterproof the crawlspace was fine. Scheduling, sidewalk raising and payment process was a huge headache. I might use them again for simple things like repairing minor foundation cracks. But nothing else. The salesman came out within a week of when I first contacted them. We liked that he did not try to up-sell us things that we did not need and provided us with reasonable solutions to the crawlspace seepage. We signed the contract, signed up for financing, and he told us that the work would be completed "within 2 weeks." Everything seemed too good to be true. And it was. It took nearly 5 weeks for the work to be completed and there was much confusion about the actual work that they are supposed to be doing. Upon scheduling the installation date, the lady basically laughed at me because the pre-installation walkthrough appointment would be 2 weeks out and the actual work would be completed for at least 2 weeks after that. But we were not able to schedule the date for the actual work until the person came to do the pre-installation walkthrough. She asked what days/ times worked for me and we were set. I worked a half day in order to meet the guy at our house for the "pre-installation walkthrough" only to find out that the guy came to our house 3 HOURS EARLY! He later told me by phone that it was not necessary for me to home for that visit. So - why did the scheduling lady insist that I be home?!? Why did I give up a half day's of work for nothing?!? After that I called the office to schedule our work and the guy told me that it supposed to be scheduled during the pre-installation walkthrough. Huh? Finally got the days scheduled, and the crews came past the 3-hour window. And, due to a language barrier, it was difficult for me to communicate with them the work that we thought we were having done vs. the work that the were actually doing. They apparently were not planning to fill a huge crack from the inside even though the salesman assured us it would filled and it is on the estimate. The guy just told me "if it leaks, call us and we'll be back." Oh - the first crew uprooted one of our plants and just left it sitting on a pile a dirt without telling me. I would have happily relocated the plant beforehand if I had known that they were going to uproot it to put the dirt pile in its place. I don't expect them to work around plants when doing projects of this nature, but I would have appreciated being told about it. Our sidewalk started to sink within 2 days of them raising it. By the time the supervisor came out a few weeks later, it sunk to the same place it was before we paid to have it raised. Another crew came back out to raise it again and left our entire yard, including plants and lights, covered in concrete dust. Lovely. And the sidewalk still is not level. US Waterproofing says that they have financing options on their website and the salesman walked us through what the monthly payments would be for the 8-year financing option. We told him we were interested in that instead of paying the entire balance. The week after the work was completed, my husband noticed a charge for the entire amount on our credit card. I called US Waterproofing and they told me that we needed to apply for financing through another company. We were NEVER told that during the time the salesman was at our house, he did not provide us with any information for how to apply for financing, and it is not expressed on their website. The US Waterproofing definitely indicates that they have financing options, but NO WHERE does it indicate that you need to apply through a separate company. Eventually they sent us the financing information, we applied and qualified, and they reversed the charge on our credit card. But - that information should have been clearly communicated to us from the beginning. Overall, I guess the crawlspace work was fine... definitely better than the first estimate we had from another company. Our crawlspace has been dry, but the sidewalk continues to sink. I wish US Waterproofing was more straightforward about scheduling the work, financing options, and I wish the guy showed up for the pre-installation walkthrough when he was supposed to show up so that we could clarify the work that was being done.

Called for an estimate and they came SO FAST ..... they gave a price of $800.00 to seal ONE 3 foot micro crack that wasn't leaking yet. While doing estimate, the idiot tracked mud all over the floor AND the carpet, I then called the main office to let them know and the girl on the phone was very nice and told me that blah blah blah would call me back about this. YEAH RIGHT!!!! THEY HAD THEIR DEPOSIT AND WE ALL KNOW THEY DIDN'T CALL!!!! The day of the job we (the customer) has to call to find out time of arrival which means of course you had to plan on taking the entire day off to work around THEIR schedule .... time of arrival is 12-3. NOBODY SHOWS UP UNTIL 4:30!!!! Now you ask if they called to let us know they would be late .... YEAH RIGHT!!!! The guy finally gets here and (remember its an $800.00 job) he works for 20 minutes and POOF the job is done!!!! The icing on the cake is that he found a small crack on the other side of the house that he would be so kind to fix for another $400.00! Moral of the story is don't use the big companies in any field like this, carpet cleaning etc. They have to sucker punch you to pay for all the advertisements and the owner is so far removed that you get sub par work done for about 500% of what it should have cost. USE THE OWNER OPERATOR BUSINESS .... YOU WILL MOST LIKELY GET THE JOB DONE FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH AND NOT HAVE TO ENDURE THIS KIND OF GARBAGE.
