Worst experience I've ever had with any kind of home repair. I would NEVER use or recommend US Waterproofing. Had a horrible experience & am extremely disappointed with them. The only reason they are getting a D- rating is because I have to say they were the most thorough of all the companies we had out during the initial inspection of our seepage issues in our basement [however 2 inspectors showed up & both failed to realize that the trouble area was with slab concrete & not the foundation like what we thought. They are the supposed foundation experts, not us]. We signed a contract & paid our deposit & then they renigged on us, standing us up twice, leaving us high & dry with no communication, no follow through, no alternative suggestions and a gaping hole in our cement right outside our door, which is the primary door we use to enter/exit our house, backyard & garage. And by gaping hole, I mean an 8' sidewalk section that they busted up and dug 2' down before realizing that there was no foundation in that particular area of our house, unbeknownst to us. We had US Waterproofing out on a Monday morning per what was scheduled. After they busted up the concrete & dug down, they saw that it was a concrete slab in that section rather than foundation. The crew said they couldn't complete the work & they left before filling in one minor crack in the basement that they were supposed to do that day. My husband contacted our advisor, John, who came to our house to inspect the dug out area. He told my husband that they've seen that before & he offered a solution in the way of adding steel mesh and filling in with concrete before finishing the job. We were satisfied with this alternate method and were ready to proceed with the work as discussed and scheduled. They were supposed to return on Wednesday but failed to show. When I called US Waterproofing to get an ETA, the woman I spoke to (very rude by the way), said that they didn't have anyone scheduled to come until Friday. I followed up with my husband who was surprised to find out that I was told that no one was scheduled to come on Wednesday. He then proceeded to call John that morning , to follow up directly with him, but our advisor failed to return our phone call until my husband called again. A day & a half later was when he returned our call. This time we were told that they were scheduled to arrive Friday between 8-9:30 am. In true fashion, they failed to come to our house within the promised time frame. When my husband called after 9:30 am to get their ETA this time, he was told that they are not showing up and instead backing out of the contract. Imagine our shock. Apparently John over-promised & that's how we were left high & dry. They did not offer any solutions or explanations other than that they don't do slab work. They said that they would return to refill in the cement outside our door, would fill the crack in the basement as a "courtesy" to us (which by the way occurred one month later after follow up calls from us) & would refund our deposit (which by the way, I had to make yet another follow up call to demand my refund). As much as I would've loved for them to fill in the concrete ASAP, we still had to get someone out to inspect the area underneath the house where they were supposed to work. So we had to live with this gaping hole for close to 2 weeks with no work done on it. Sadly, as Angie's List members, we thought we made the right decision by going with a well known, supposedly reputable company that had an A rating and boasts "coveted awards in service & an A+ rating with BBB". What they failed to mention is that their communication sucks (with the exception of them repeatedly contacting us prior to us signing the initial contract, just to make the sale. However, once we signed the contract, all communication ceased & only happened if we instigated it.). Aside from the poor communication, the follow through was appalling. We were left with a bunch of empty promises & frustration. Oh, and we also went through the financing process, so now there's a hit on our credit report for financing we'll never use. It's one thing to explain to your customer that after digging, only to find slab instead, that you don't do that type of work. It's entirely another thing however, to pull out of a contract after making promises, leaving no other options/recommendations and not communicating. Did they honestly think that customers would be fine with a company standing us up twice only to bail at the last minute?!? So there you go, fellow Angie's List members. That was our awesome experience with this supposedly excellent company. We have to wonder why these so called "foundation experts" didn't suspect slab instead of foundation in this particular area of the house. It ended up taking a full month to finally finish the "courtesy" work with numerous phone calls on our part just to get them to return. So essentially, we waisted a very stressful month to get us basically back to where we started. Take away what you will from my experience. Needless to say, I would NEVER consider them for any other job nor recommend them to anyone. All I can say is if you do decide to go with them, best of luck to you & hopefully you don't have to deal with this same nightmare we had to on our home while using this company.
