Nothing sexy here. If my storm drains become stopped up, I call them, they come, (this time within 40 minutes), rout out the drain, and it's done. I wrote a check at the time, and they are efficient, well priced and quick. I don't actually remember what I paid, but it was around $100.00 I would recommend them to anyone who needs their services. They had done this for me 7 or 8 years prior and still had my info and address when I called. Seamless and easy.

It turned out wonderfully. He was able to find more problems and fix them before they got worse. He was fabulous. I would use them again and even ask for the same technician.

It went fine. The service person took about 2 hours to do it but I felt that it was a proper amount of time. He was very polite and helpful and did, I believe, a very good job.

The company kept me very well informed as to the arrival of the plumber. He was friendly and did a good job. I was surprised at the cost of unclogging a drain, $368 after using the coupon from Angie's List.

Work went well as expected. These under floor drains, installed when house was built in 1971 are beginning to deteriorate. We will possibly need to repair these lines at some point.
Description of Work: Rodded out, and ran camera through clogged half of drain under floor of basement. Bad cap and stripped cap connection threads prevented running camera in main 4" drain line from bathrooms.

Kitchen sink was backing up with water, called Roto-Rooter as they are one of the only Plumbers that will come out on a Sunday and not charge an arm and a leg for it. Two guys came and ran a snake through the drain and made sure it was completely clean, would use the service again.

I would say only use them fro simple Jobs they are not plumbers they are tech that do not have the knowledge to work out side the Box if something comes out that they do not have in the Book!!
Description of Work: Sent out a tech that had no idea what he was doing left the clean out trap with a broken lid that he broke trying to get open. Had a second tech come out that didn't want to bring the proper machine in ti root out the trap! had to have a field supervisor come out to video because the pipe was still not cleaned out! The only good thing that came out of it all was that we were not charged because no one did the how job!

Edmundo (2308) from Roto-Rooter came on Monday to look at my overhead sewer. His analysis of what I need compared well with what I have been told by others and what I have observed. I liked the plan he laid out. He wrote an estimate for $700. We agreed he would return on Thursday, but he was unable to come, due to another project he was on. The company called me twice to keep me posted and cancel. He came Friday and spent over 4 hours. He added a 1.5 inch pump to my existing overhead sewer pit. He attached the new pump to an existing pipe running out of my house to the front. Now I have 2 pumps of 1.5 inch, each going out different pipes. He then fixed the cap on the sewer clean out in the front yard. It had broken off the ceramic pipe and seems to have been a major way water came into my basement when my street corner and yard flooded. He sawed the uneven break and attached a new cap. Edmundo was low key when we first talked, and I was not confident in him. But as we talked, I felt he knew more than it seemed at first. He explained things to me and also listened to my concerns. Two different dispatchers/office personell told me he is very good and has a lot of requests.

This Co is not to be trusted. They took advantage of me knowing I was alone and elderly. I would not suggest anyone use these people.
Description of Work: There was water in my basement. I had replaced the sump pump 2 years ago but it was not working even though fairly new. I am elderly and ill and could not remember the name of the plumber that installed the pump. I was very nervous and fearful that the water would continue to rise and shut my heat down. I looked in the phone book and called Roto Rooter. They came about 5 hours after the appointment time. They said they did not have a pump on the truck and they left to shop for a pump. They returned about an hour later without a pump saying the pumps were just too expensive. They had a rubber thing that they called a float telling me this would do the job. They sawed my fairly new pump up and installed this $10 dollar gizmo. This took them 10 minutes. They then charged me $498.50 for this jerry rigged mess for a 10 minute job. My family has complained to Roto Rooter after seeing how I was taken but this Co. will not respond. This float gives a loud thud when it rains and it is nerve wracking. I will never use these people again. They are out there looking for desperate people to take advantage of. Their ad says "senior discount". I am very old so there was no doubt that I was a senior but a discount was never mentioned. These people are crooks.

They were not able to complete the job
Description of Work: Called Roto-Rooter as main sewer line was backed up and coming into the basement. The call was promptly taken and person dispatched as promised. Person tried to use electric rodding to clean sewer line but couldn't clear it and told us we needed to request a camera inspection. He broke the sewer line cap taking it off, and didn't have a spare. He stuffed a TOWEL into the huge opening and told us it would hold until the am. One toilet flush sent the towel flying. Today we had Able Sewar come - and they were able to rod out the sewer line with no issue using what looks like to me the same equipment. Clearly we had someone last night who had no idea what they were doing from Roto-Rooter.

I called Roto-Rooter at around 9 am to schedule an appointment to have my floor drain cleaned and a new sump pump installed the same day as I had a foot of water in my basement. I set the appointment between 3 pm and 6 pm and was told I would get a call a half hour before the service tech came out. At 5:45 I received a call saying they were behind schedule. Long story short, they got to my house at 10:15 pm. The tech was not able to remove the cast iron insert in the floor drain using his wrench and basically gave up after 10 to 15 minutes. He informed me he didn't have a sump pump on his truck and could do nothing about that. He wasn't able to clean my floor drain, which he quoted me $398.00 to do! He also told me not to worry, it was the towns problem anyway. He suggested I call the town's emergency number and tell them the storm sewer was pushing water into my house through the mainline. That was never the case. I called a real plumber the next morning and had a new sump pump and my floor drain cleaned for under $200. The cast iron insert in my floor drain did need to busted out, but was replaced with an updated model which included a valve that prevents water from flowing in to my house! Never again will I call this company, nor will I recommend them for anything. Such a huge waste of my time!
Description of Work: No service was performed because the plumber gave up after not being able to easily access my floor drain.

I would give Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services a C on price. I mean they got the job done and came when they said, but they are more expensive than anybody else. They were professional and on time. However they were more expensive than everybody else who quoted me. I won't use them again, especially when I can get the same service from someone else at a better price.

It was not good overall, the older man complained that he had to use the toilet to rot out the pipes adn complained there wasn't a cleanout on the ouside of my house. once the job was completed he left a mess in my bathroom and let me think my pipes were functional again.
Description of Work: I had my plumbing rotted out, and got a quote for a cleanout to be added to the outside of the house, which was 2 times higher than what i paid to have it done.

Brown water backed up from the toilet and overflowed into the basement. The tech came out at 10:30 pm at night to assess the problem and was back in the morining to roto-root the drain. We then had a relapse and they came back and roto-rooted to the curb on a Sunday, no charge, as they guaranteed their work. We have been clog free since. We were very happy with their service.

The initial tech (Greg) who came out was a field Supervisor, and so hav the more sophisticated equipment / camera on his truck and did not have to call another truck. That was very helpful. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and explained things thoroughly. He stayed until the job was done, even though that meant hanging around until well past "closing time" on a Friday night. He also took the time to educate us that the sewer line should really be power-washed out every 2 years or so to prevent problems. We'd never heard that before, so guess after 15 years in this house with zero maintenance to that effect, we shouldn't be surprised there was a problem. In the end, they did the work in as efficient and professional a manner as imaginable, and it is undeniably fixed and in a better position to not happen again. Just at that price point, I'd have felt better with some sort of basis for price comparison.
Description of Work: Symptom: washing machine drain backing up. Greg from Roto Rooter came the next day, rodded the interior lines -- when that didn't fix it, he scoped and determined the plug was in the main sewer line. Wrote up a proposal, with the offer that the $500 bill already incurred could be applied toward the cost of the larger job. We proceeded (contract #17036263). They were there early the next (Saturday!) morning and had things dug and 6' of sewer line replaced in just a few hours. They installed an exterior clean-out while they were at it, so we won't have to sully our basement the next time they clean it out. They left the trench secure and barricaded when they left. They came back Monday to take care of the inspection and close the hole.

Frank did an awesome job! He not only did the plumbing work, but landed up doing landscaping work as well. He went to the house, called me with an estimate, and when I said ok, he started right away. Within 3 hours the clean out pipe that was protruding 4-5" inches above the brick paver sidewalk was cut down, re-capped, and the pavers put back in place.I was fortunate that Frank was not only a skilled plumber, but was also a skilled landscaper! Thank you Frank and Roto Rooter for the quick and excellent service!
Description of Work: I am a Realtor and the clean out pipe at one of my listings in Elgin was located in the middle of the front sidewalk and was sticking up about 4-5" above the brick pavers. Frank chiseled out frozen sand and brick pavers in a 12" radius and about 12" deep in order to cut the pipe, re-cap it, and make it flush with the top of the paver sidewalk. He did this in February, in very cold temperatures, and did it the same day that I called Roto Rooter for service.

My mom lives alone, 80 year old widow on fixed income. We called and complained - the plumber said those wee teh rates set by national corporate office and by the way the work was quality - better be! Avoid this rip off shop - especially if you are a senior citizen!
Description of Work: Called Elk Grove Village Roto Rooter. They unclogged a basement drain for $350 - didnt hold up. 2nd visit came back and replace 10 of pipe, 8 fittiings and worked for 3 hours - 1 man and an apprentice this bill was $730. The final invoice had no detail. Total labor cost equals $880 or $176 an hour. Robbed my mother blind!

Setup the appointment, they gave me a 2 hour window. They missed the window, but they did call to let me know they were missing it. When they arrived, they took a look at the issue, and gave me a flat rate quote that was 4x what it normally costs me for the same service (my normal person couldn't get to it the same day). They came down a little, but not enough for me to have them do the work. Wasted my time and theirs.

I had an appointment window from 3-5pm. While Roto-Rooter called me every hour telling me they were going to be late. The repairman didn't show up until 8:30! The repairman was a good guy and did his job efficiently. Overall quality was good. However the price was out of this world. 2 pumps replaced for $1640, which included about 1 hour of labor. I went to the local Home Supply store on Lincoln (ie not a big box store), about a week later, and noticed they were selling the same pumps. I asked them how much each of the pumps were, and to my surprise I could have bought both pumps for less than $600!!! It appears that Roto-Rooter charges their customers the List price of the pumps, even though nobody pays that price. So I suggest if you want better pricing call another company.
