Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

Ball on Sump Pump not functioning because of size and wear. Not proper for small pit. Updated with new pump and vertical ball. Work was done efficiently and thorough explanation and demonstration of problem prior to installation. Greg was professional and courteous and he resolved our problem. He tested battery and said it was operating properly and just needed a recharge because it was used when main pump ball malfunctioned. No need to change battery. Later had minor adjustment needed on pipe. Harold showed me the solution and fixed it right away. They work on weekends and holidays at no additional charge. Quite a professional group.

I used these guys because it's tough to arrange appointments during the day and while a bit more expensive than I thought in the end it was worth it. Tech #2910 - Giovann - showed up on time. Was incredibly professional and most importantly neat. Did what he needed to do and was on his way.

Giovanni (#2910) arrived quickly - just 2 hours after we called Roto-Rooter. He was very professional and explained the whole process. He gave an accurate estimate and then performed the services thoroughly. He was very careful about not leaving a mess in our house and cleaned up the bathrooms before he left.

Kyle (technician 3269) was very professional, sympathetic, hard working, and friendly. After finishing job he scheduled a time for a video technician to come inspect the sewer line to make sure the blockage was removed and diagnose any other issues -- all included in the price of the job.

They removed dry wall, plaster, etc. due to moisture damage. Also fixed piping for sump pump

He was quick and very nice. There was no problem. He is very prompt. It was pretty good. They were here also the week before so they've been here twice. It was good service but I still thought for less than 30 minutes or 30 minutes, $400 just for what they did, was a little much. They were fast. They called me and let me know everything was going on. They came sooner than I thought because we showed up at the same time.

Provided quote, did the work and explained everything he did in detail. Professional. Stuck to the quote. Left everything very clean. Highly recommend them. Only small issue was having to reschedule twice because they missed the scheduled service window,

Had tree roots in the sewer line and used a Water Jet process that cleaned the line from the house to the street. They used a video camera to assure that the line cleaned completely. The communication from scheduling to notifying us when they were coming was great. I received quotes from other sources that offered the same process and found them all to be competitive. I recommend them.

UPDATE: The plumber that ultimately replaced the defective faucet on our basement utility sink was both professional and personable. He arrived with quality replacement parts on his truck, and he agreed to a fair price for his services. The plumber also offered sound advice about the least risky way to repair a slow leak in an old water pipe, and we decided to accept his advice. Roto-Rooter failed to keep their appointment to deliver plumbing services at my household for 2 days after confirming my appointment. My confirmed appointment was for Fri 4/10/2015 2 PM CDT. I received at least two calls from someone identifying herself as Toi (Caller ID says Tim Wallensack 630-510-0815) on Fri 4/10 claiming that the plumber was running behind schedule, then I received a third call from Toi stating that the plumber would definitely deliver my services Sat 4/11 8-11 AM CDT. On Sat 4/11 I received at least four calls throughout the day from someone identifying himself as Tom (Caller ID says Tim Wallensack 630-510-0815) continuing to claim that the plumber was still running behind schedule. Sat 4/11 4:13 PM, a female called saying that a plumber would be unavailable until Sun 4/12. Sun 4/12 9:44 AM CDT a female claiming that she spoke with me on Fri 4/10 (probably Toi) called claiming that they simply do not have any plumbers in the Beverly Hills neighborhood of Chicago, IL. I'm extremely dissatisfied with Roto-Rooter's lack of service on my defective basement utility sink that Roto-Rooter installed a few years ago.

We needed plumbing work done for a shower stall we are rebuilding. We called this Roto Rooter, they did come out quickly, quoted my wife close to $500, I believe it was $495 or so, my wife laughed at the cost at which time the service provider called his office and lowered the cost by close to half the original quote. Still unjustifiably high so my wife told the service tech that it was still to high and we'll go with someone else. Seems like either A, they were trying to take advantage of a woman or B, they were trying to take advantage of a potential customer who may not know what services should cost. When they lowered the price by $200 just by a phone call, it was a red flag that the original quote was to take advantage of people. Our opinion anyway. Be informed before you use them.

It's great. They referred me to United Septic to have my catch basin cleaned up. They have good service. I've used them before so I know they will gonna do good and it guaranteed.

We had a total clog of our main sewer line on a Sunday morning where running the upstairs bath was causing the basement shower to back up. The household toilets were also having issues flushing. As we've had similar issues in the past with our aging city sewer line, I knew the issue was likely to be a soft clog far down the line. I called Roto-Rooter at around 11:30 and they were able to get a technician to our house within 90 minutes (again, on a Sunday and with no weekend surcharge!!). The service technician (Bob) was very courteous and professional, as was the technician that he had shadowing him for training. I described our issue and our previous main line clean outs to the technician, and after reviewing the back up he confirmed that it was likely a main line clog and that it would require a snaking/clean out. As we do not have an accessible stack/clean out valve to access the main line, the technician advised that he would need to remove the basement toilet to perform the service, which does carry an extra charge. The tech was entirely clear up front about what the total chage for the service would be and about what would be involved. Roto-Rooter's standard charge for the toilet removal and replacement seems a bit steep for the amount of work involved, but I do understand that there is a fair bit of liability involved in performing that service (i.e., it's really easy to crack a toilet during removal/re-installation). The full clean out process took maybe 2.5 hours, including clean up. The overall experience was absolutely as good as I could ask for (that is, for a Sunday afternoon spent dealing with a backed up sewer line). I will definitely call Roto-Rooter again in the future, as they seem to be able to consistently respond to residential plumbing calls with prompt and reasonably priced service. Further, I would give an additional two thumbs up to the specific technician who came out on this call, as he was both very proficient and incredibly courteous.

Checked septic tank to make sure it was not the problem. Then placing new drop cloth on bathroom, organized tools, removed toilet, and proceeded to check line with camera. Used rodding tool to remove clogged area, flushed line and reviewed cleaned line with camera a second time. Identified potential future problem area with decaying 40 year old iron pipe from house to septic tank. Advised we should plan on replacing in near future. Cracks in this pipe caused material to get caught and create clog. Rudy, the service technician was here within an hour after our call on Palm Sunday morning. Very polite and explained work and costs prior to doing any work.

It went very well. They came, it took them three days. They excavated it and then it was cleaned up fine.

They did not contact me 30 minutes prior to arriving per their dispatcher's comment to me on the phone when I initiated the request for service. This was confirmed that it would occur via email to me. Upon arrival, the tech offered a quote which my wife & I accepted and he left to buy a faucet since he didn't have on on his truck. When I asked him if the SS Supply lines would be replaced, he said yes. They weren't since the new faucet came with integral plastic ones. He said he would go to Menard's which is within 4 miles of our house and it took him more than an hour to return. He said his GPS directed him to Skokie, IL where Menard's had closed. Perhaps the Techs should be given current locations for the suppliers. My wife asked him if he needed any towels to absorb the water when he disconnected the supply lines from the faucet and he declined her offer. When he disconnected the supply lines, water leaked inside the cabinet. He wiped it up. He then asked for something to catch the water from the PVC J-Bend that he wanted to disconnect for better access to the work area. I gave him a small bucket. The quote price also seemed high, however the work needed to be completed on the weekend and we didn't have time to get other quotes. I would appreciate if a manager from Roto-Rooter would contact me as I feel I'm due a partial credit for the work. **updated 3/25/2015 - Company was very responsive to my concerns listed above. They have addressed all of my issues and I would use them again in the future.**

Tech arrived in 1 hour of phone call. Protected floor and went right to work had Drain cleaned in couple of hours very professional.

We called Roto-Rooter when our kitchen sink clogged because they are a national brand and well- this is what they do- clear drains. Silvano- the field manager came out- he was within the supplied time window and called ahead of time to say he was on his way. He was SUPER nice and personable. My jaw dropped at the cost of the service though- I told Silvano it was just too much- he told me he would work with us on the price and that they won't charge for the visit and come back again if we don't figure out how to clear it ourselves. Super sweet guy. Needless to say- we couldn't clear it ourselves- we called them again and they came back same day!!! Again- they called ahead. This time Jeff came. He got the job done in less than 45 mins. They have a 6 month guarantee which is awesome! I only gave it B because the cost was astronomical. I would have given it 3 stars because the cost but Silvano was so awesome, he kind of made up for it a bit. Plainfield, IL

I called RotoRooter as soon as we heard that gurgling sound in our basement drain. We had used them back in 2009. Bill S.tech#2986 arrived right on time. He evaluated our situation and explained that he believed we did need our master drain rodded. He gave us a firm quote of $435 but was happy to apply the $40 coupon I had found online. Bill was extremely careful to wear the booties over his shoes as well as gloves. He was very thorough bot in his meticulous care to layout tarps for protection of our carpet and furniture and in his rodding. He rodded the entire 120 feet well past reaching the city connection. He then had us turn on as many water faucets as possible (including flushing all three toilets and filling and emptying our SpeedQueen clothes washer twice) He showed me the roots he had pulled out and then after we turned off the water faucets, he completely re-rodded the master line..He then asked us to repeat turning on the faucets, flushing the toilets and emptying the washer while he filled out his paperwork and cleaned up. In short Bill S. was the ultimate professional even surpassing the excellent service we had received in 2009 from RotoRooter. We will definitely use them anytime we need services they provide and we will ask for Bill S specifically.

Removed toilet and replaced wax seal. Had dripping sound in downstairs kitchen. I had roofer, another plumber, HVAC, general contractor out in the past two weeks to locate where the leak was coming from. I finally decided to do things by process of elimination, first starting with checking under the toilet. Pat #1899 came out about an hour after I called. He was able to move the toilet around easily without touching the bolts! Previous plumber who installed the new toilet a few years ago, did not properly mount the toilet. Pat took toilet out, replaced wax ring and reset the toilet. Took about 20 minutes. I was very satisfied with the responsiveness and the plumber.

Had a toilet clog that I tried to clear with a plunger. Without success. After reading online recommendations, I bought an augur to use. Came home to a flooded bathroom that droned into the kitchen downstairs. Used the auger and only succeeded in scratching the toilet up . Called Roto-Rooter who came to my home in Lombard IL during the worst snow storm this winter. The serviceman, Bob, was great. Professional service and good at letting me know what he was doing and why. Checked out not only the toilet but also sink and shower drains that were in tthe bathroom. I would definitely use Roto-Rooter a gain.
