Mr Grout

We were ready to give the job to someone else from Angie's List but when I met Matt, I knew he was the right one for the job. Immediate response for the estimate, right on time for the 8 hour Job, and perfect,professional work.

Matt was wonderful. He arrived on time, did the work that we asked for and left his work space immaculate. We plan on having Matt come back to do more work for us. We have also given his name to others without any hesitation on our part.

Matt (Mr. Grout) was at our house on time, in fact, he was five minutes early! He went to work and worked straight from 9 am until almost 2:30pm without any breaks. I took water upstairs to him and offered him more water or a snack, but he just kept working. Our shower was covered in rust, as our well water contains a lot of rust and other sediment. Matt painstaikingly removed every last bit of rust while working on his hands and knees for hours. He did an excellent job and I would not hesitate to have him back again. I would be glad to be a reference if anyone would want to see his work or call regarding the quality of his work or his dependability. He came over within hours of my initial call and gave me an estimate immediately, which was reasonable. We scheduled an appointment, and through my mistake, I wrote down the wrong day on my calendar so when I went to confirm the date with Matt, I wasn't able to be home the original date we agreed upon, so Matt offered to come out a different day instead, one that he had planned off. I felt so badly that he was working on his day off, but he insisted on getting the work done, and I appreciated him coming out and getting these projects done.

Mr. Grout (Matt) arrived on time and started to pull up the loose tiles in both bathrooms. Quite a tedious job, but he removed the tiles and applied the proper adhesive and grouted the area. OMG both floors look great. Matt takes pride in his work and does the job right!

They were extremely responsive throughout the entire process. Madeline came out to provide the quote within a day after contact. Luis, the installer, came the night before the project started to move our w/d, laundry sink, and toilet. The next 3 days he always arrived when he said he would, between 7 and 7:30am. Once finished he cleaned everything up and disposed of all the garbage for a very small fee. Luis did a great job installing the tile. I would recommend him to anyone.

I called Matt to talk to him about the work I needed done at my home. He came out to give me an estimate and also helped me to plan out the backsplash in my bathroom. He checked the two shower areas in my home and gave me suggestions on repairs. I also talked to him about doing a backsplash in my kitchen and he gave me an idea of cost. I was torn between painting the kitchen or putting tile up. He was very upfront that the cost would be significantly more to tile than to paint. I decided to pass on doing the work in the kitchen at this time. I sent in the contract to do the work in the two bathrooms. He called and scheduled the work within a week. Matt came on time the day of the job. He did a fantastic job on my backsplash and the two shower areas. The work took somewhat longer than he anticipated but he did not charge me more $$. He cleaned up after he was done. I am extremely satisfied with the work and would recommend him to anyone.

Very professional. He came out and checked the problem and gave us an estimate. He returned a few days later, made the repair and touched up the tile around the tube. Everything looked like new.

Incredible! From start to finish Luis, who did the work was incredible! I recieved an estimate over the phone and they stood by it and I can not say enough of the hard work. I will be a huge advocate for the work that was done and I will be using them for some larger projects going forward. Thanks :)

I called Matt (Mr. Grout) on a Friday morning; he answered the phone, gave me a quote and was at my house at 9 on the dot on Monday. He was friendly, efficient and really knew his grout. He even did work in the kitchen for me that wasn't part of my original estimate, all in less time than he estimated. My shower stall and kitchen sink look brand new. I would definitely call Matt again.

Matt, the owner, serviced my home. He was delightful! He did an excellent job re-caulking our two bathrooms, cleaning grout where necessary and resealling the tile in our master bathroom. In our boy's bathroom, the window needed to be caulked (and I had forgotten to mention this to Madeline, who gave us our quote. Matt caulked around the window and also caulked around the floor of our master bedroom and did not charge me (even though I offered to pay more for this.). I also appreciate how organized he was and how he cleaned up after his work. Matt told me that I was his 9,000+ satisfied customer and I believe it. I highly recommend Mr. Grout. and will definitely use them again in the future.

Each person I dealt with at the company was prompt and professional. It was a total pleasure to deal with these people and the work was performed perfectly. Price was competitive and fair. I highly recommend them!

We have used them twice, once for my house and once for my mother in laws house. They were very honest and very professional. It was an whole day job and lot of labor involved. My bathroom looks new.

Performed regrout quickly, efficiently, and effectively.

Overall experience was excellent. They were timely in the quoting process and work time. They were extremely organized during th work at our home and very nice to deal with. I would recommend them to any of my friends.

I called Mr Grout on Saturday evening and left a message after I noticed a leak in the shower area of my master bathroom. Madeline called back on Monday morning and informed me that they were currently on vacation and would be able to get an appointment scheduled late that week after they got back in town. We ultimately decided to get quotes and receive work from another company given the leak, but really appreciated the phone call letting us know they would not be able to provide an immediate quote.

We are extremely pleased with the level of service Mr. Grout provided. This is a small family business and they are able to provide some extra care and loving which is always appreciated. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Madeline was able to schedule an appointment to fit my late afternoon/evening schedule within a few days of my call. Upon entering, she knelt and began tapping on the tiles in the entrance hallway. They were installed at least 15 years ago, and she said many were loose. Given my recent horrible experience with my contractor, I thought "Here we go..." Instead, we found Madeline to be matter-of-fact, honest, and professional. She even suggested ways that we might try to clean the new (dirty) grout in the kitchen and baths ourselves before contracting a professional to do the job. (She actually got down on her knees and demonstrated, working on the grout between several tiles herself!) She suggested products, told us where to buy them, and gave us an approximation of their cost. (Remember, she made the commute to our house for the estimate and did all this for FREE!) Since I have health problems, she also wrote up an estimate that detailed how much it would cost if we used her service for the kitchen and baths. She could have included the entryway to potentially increase the cost of the job, but she DIDN'T, saying that because the tile was old and so many were loose, it may not be worth the investment- better just to get a few more years out of the tile and then replace them. I cannot say enough about how much I appreciated Madeline, especially after our totally negative experience with the contractor. It was wonderful to see that there are still honest people out there who care about the quality of their work! When we do replace the tile in the entryway, you can bet we will be calling Mr. Grout.

Mr. Grout did an outstanding job and we couldn't be more pleased. He was on time and very nice. He did excellent work and our backsplash is beautiful. He was concerned about keeping the work space clean and cleaned up well after he left. We are very happy that we found him on Angie's List and if you're looking for someone to do beautiful tile work, Mr. Grout is the one to hire.

We first booked an appointment to have the job estimated. At the last minute, they called and said they had to cancel, because they had locked their keys in their car. They estimated the job over the phone, and we agreed to the price set. The day before the appointment, we called to confirm the time and were told that the worker had another job and would be late to our booked appointment, but they would call us 15 minutes prior. This, coupled with not showing up to do the estimate, set off red flags, but we decided to go ahead with the work anyway. On the day of the appointment, the worker that showed up refused to stay to do the work. A portion of our street was blocked off by city signs so that work crews could remove damaged tree limbs from a tree damaged in a recent storm. The worker was parked in the portion of the street not blocked off by the signs, and where numerous other cars were also legally parked, but refused to park there because he was afraid of getting a ticket. his rationale was based on one car on the street with a boot on it, due to expired plates. We offered him an off-street parking space, a more secure space behind our building, and he refused it, then refused to stay at all, and just left without doing the work. We called the company for an explanation, and his wife told us he his truck had been robbed several times in the city, and he felt that he had to park where he could see it. Although he could have parked legally on the street, the space we offered, our own parking space, off the street, perfectly fit his needs, because it would put his truck in clear view of the window located in the shower we booked him to work on - he could have literally watched his truck while working - but he refused to park there, either, and just left without doing the work. His wife offered to rebook and come with him next time, but since he made it clear that there is no place he will park his truck and stay, it seems foolish to rebook and have him come out with someone to hold his hand. I wish I had seen the other negative review here before I booked this, in which they had the exact same problem. Bottom line, don't book them if you live in Chicago. This was completely unprofessional, and ridiculous.

The two workers arrive early morning, took a short lunch break and then finished early evening. One worker did the children's bathroom and another did our master bathroom. They each scrapped out and removed the old, discolored, and somewhat moldy grout and caulk, and replaced each area with new grout and caulk. I couldn't believe the results of the kid's bathroom, it looked like when we first moved into our house; it looked brand new. What a super job! Amazing Mr. Grout! Our master bath is a big improvement over how it was starting to look; things were looking very run-down. The other worker did a nice job, but we had to call Mr. Grout back as there were a few areas that had to be finished. Over all we were very satisfied, and we already plan on using Mr. Grout again in the very near future. A+ Mr. Grout! Everything was pretty-much finished in one day!

Luis was terrific, very careful with his measuring and cutting and fitting. He was also very soft spoken, neat and clean, conscientious and considerate. Madeline is the owner--she comes ahead and helps him understand the job, carry in the equipment, arranges all with customer and then returns at end for inspection and to handle the bill. Everything was carefully finished, cleaned up and Luis even added some silicone caulking around the sink that was not pertinent to the tile installation. They were both great to work with and I would highly recommend them.
