I called Jamie to request a quote, I had a response and a walk-through date within a few hours. He arrived on time, provided an on-the-spot estimate (and a lot of good chatting) and then followed up via email within a couple of days. I was able to email back and forth with him about scheduling, he filed for electronic permits with the city, etc. and all of his estimates were spot-on. Jamie and his crew (Phil and Tom) showed up right on time, they were professional in their work, friendly to the cat and downright fun to spend time around. They left the basement a little cleaner than it was when they arrived (bonus!). When we ran into a major rain storm and some water in the breaker box (two weeks later) - we called Jamie and he came out on an hour's notice on a Sunday afternoon. He fixed it right up and we've had nothing but great electric service since. We've recommended him to all our friends and we'll probably call him for all our future needs. I've never been so confident in the skills (including ethical and social skills) of any contractor.

The work performed by Clar Electric was no less than stellar. Jamie was exceptionally responsive to my e-mails, after my initial contact with Jamie on Angie's List he rearranged his schedule to come out to my home to perform a quote very quickly. He was honest and straight forward with cost, equipment, time requirements, and what the work involved. Following the quote at my home he had a proposal prepared and e-mailed to me in less than 24hrs. In addition Jamie recommended retailers for the equipment that I needed to purchase, this store was also a pleasure to work with. The install was performed on 11/24/09, the electricians arrived at my home right on time, and they began working immediately. They were extremely knowledgeable, and polite, they were also very easy to communicate with. The work was done quite quickly. All the installations were done in less than 6 hours, and the guys cleaned up very nicely after themselves. The quality of the work was excellent, and they were very respectful of my home. Just a few side notes of how Clar Electric went above and beyond, they made a point of trying to find a way to run the electrical wiring without damaging drywall in visible areas, this was excellent. Also, they are very LGBT friendly. I will most definitely hire Jamie and his crew to do work in my home again. Thanks Guys!!

We contacted Clar Electric on 11/10/09 and asked if he would come and rewire our switches. He committed to come the next afternoon which he did. he took care of what we needed done in about 30 minutes, alsp providing the correct switch when he discovered the one we had bought was not the correct one. Jamie was very friendly and worked quickly. We are completely satisfied.

So great!!! They promptly called me (but I was in emergency room with head wound..oops) they called back (that means a lot) and set up a time that day. Which was so great! I didn't expect that knowing how busy they could be ..but I got quick service. They fixed my problem and gave me some pointers on the fuse box. I got lots of good info. Very congenial attitude and very efficient work ethic. I will not hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. I now have a company I can rely on when I need help..a company I can trust.

Response to initial inquiry was within a few hours where he was able to schedule for an estimate visit the following day. I requested that the owner call when he was on his way to my house. This worked out great since he did run on the later-side of his estimated time of arrival. He provided great input on the work requested along with options and concerns. He troubleshooted the doorbell problem on the spot in order to ensure exactly the cause of the problem. It was not the doorbell button where the plastic casing was broke; it was the transformer not connected due to the new furnace installation. Estimate was provided via email that evening where I was able to sign off and scheduled the work within a week. Estimate arrival time was last morning or early afternoon. Two electricians arrived around 1 PM where the work was divided and completed within an hour. The owner arrived soon after to ensure the work quality and explained the power surge warranty. Payment by credit card was a very smooth process. Recommendation: Ask for a phone call when they have a better estimate time of arrival especially when they are running on the later side of the estimated time of arrival.

From initial contact, Jamie was courteous and professional. He was punctual for his appointment and obviously very experienced and knowledgeable in his craft. Based on my experience, I would say that Jamie is obviously very ethical. I will be calling him again.

We were doing some small remodeling in a house we just purchased and I called Jaime to install 2 new outlets as well as give me his overall assessment of the entire electrical system when I found older wiring in the home. He was very honest in telling us that while the cloth insulated wiring was old, he found it to be in good condition. He said he we didn't need to re-wire or reconfigure circuits at this time. He was very upfront about any potential issues we might have and gave us his opinion ("if it were my house, I wouldn't do anything"). This was in contrast to another electrician who we contacted who just said it would be $7000 to re-wire the house. After scheduling the work to install two outlets (he was able to schedule within one week) we decided to add additional work (run power and install a switch for a bathroom fan and run power for a new overhead light). We added the work without discussing price and the increase in price from the original bid after completing the additional work was fair.

Everything went very well. Jamie is very responsive -- returns phone calls, and emails promptly. The 3 guys doing the job, including Jamie, were polite, easy to have in the house, and completed the job in about 6 hours. The under-cabinet lights were going to be a tricky application due to the existing backsplash tile. There were no accidents -- no tile was broken, the lights are fantastic and I'm thrilled. They cleaned up all the mess in all three job areas.

My first impression of Jamie was that he was very friendly and knowledgable and was able to accommodate an appointment that day. There schedule was flexible to fit within our needs. They came in and worked quietly got the job done quick and cleaned up after themselves with no mess left behind. Overall the experience was positive and I would recommend them to anyone.

Jamie called me back about 10 minutes after I left a message and we set up a time for him to come out and give us an estimate for all the work we needed done. I had wanted an evening appointment and he was more than willing to accomodate my schedule. Jamie showed up on time and I walked him through what we needed done. Jamie was actually the one who suggested we install wall switches for all of the ceiling fans. I didn't even know they made special switches for celing fans. That was a great suggestion because I'm short and my husband's tall. In order to reach the pull strings the chains typically have to be long enough for me to reach but then my husband would walk into them. After Jamie took all of his notes he left and told us he would have a written estimate ready for us in 24 hours.I woke up the next morning and there was a proposal waiting for me in my email that Jamie had sent to me at 11:30 at night! I don't think he sleeps :-) I was very happy to have received the estimate in such a timely manner because many of the other contractors I've contacted are slow to respond.I called Jamie 2 days later (he gave us the estimate on a Friday and we received it Saturday morning) to set up a time for him to come and do the work. He thought it would take about 1 full day of work plus some time on a 2nd day.Jamie contacted me the night before he was scheduled to do the work to confirm everything. I responded and told him to call me with any questions. As he was working he did call me for a few things and I was very appreciative of that. We had discussed at one point how low the chandelier should be hung and he had to call me back and say that wouldn't work because the fixture we picked out had a bar that made the piece hang at a designated minimum height. I told him that was ok, we can't control it and besides the table sits much lower than we had originally thought so the fixture had to hang lower anyways, so it all worked out. There was no access to the ceiling in the dining room from the attic (it was an addition previous owners added on) so they had to cut a hole in the ceiling/wall in order to feed electrical lines to the center of the room which we were expecting. They kept the hole they had to cut to a minimum and it should take just a simple patch kit to fill it. They actually had to repair a few extra switches that turned out to be faulty and it didn't increase the cost. Overall I was very happy with the work Jamie and his crew did and would definitely hire them again if we need more electrical work done.

I was very pleased with the work that was done by Jamie. I called CLAR Electric in the morning and they were able to come the same day. Jamie was punctual, professional and friendly. Jamie checked the wiring and replaced the fixture. It was done quickly.

Better than expected. This was in my opnion a big job and Jamie and his crew (Phil & Tom) were just awesome. They made suggestions where needed, they improved where neccessary and they were always on time and very professional. I would reccomend Jamie to ANYBODY who needs electrical work done.

Jim Clar was very responsive to my request for an estimate. He arranged to meet me in the evening after work which was the most convenient time for me. He provided an estimate which was a fair price for the time and effort. We arranged the time and date for the service at that time. He and another electrician arrived on time as promised and professionally completed the work in the expected time. They cleaned up their work area. They were professional throughout the transaction.

I called Clar Electric Inc after reading the many glowing reviews on Angie's List. So I was happily surprised when I received a telephone call from Mr. Clar shortly after I left a message. However, this soon turned to disgust as I found Mr. Clar to be extremely rude as well as sarcastic. I told him that I needed to separate electrical service for a first floor unit in a 3-flat and I was informed in an overbearing tone that the "entire service would need to be upgraded" which really meant that the meter panel needed to be expanded to 4 from 3. Mr. Clar offered no guidance or straight answers to my questions about what needed to be done first other than to be sarcastic and tell me that he was "just letting me know". I do not work with contractors that cannot give straight answers to questions or speak civilly to a prospective customer that will be paying for services. I am extremely tired of being treated rudely by contractors, over the telephone or in person. I have dealt with many contractors, I have experienced polite and helpful before, and Mr. Clar was neither.

I called for an estimate, Jamie came out within a few days. He honestly told me I didn't really need to have the work done at this time. He e-mailed me a quote the next day and followed up a couple days later. I accepted his proposal, scheduled the work for 2 weeks out. Jamie and his crew showed up on time, did what they needed to do and were done within 8 hours. Cleaned up after themselves. They are amazing! And they are dog friendly! I wish all contractors were like Jamie and his crew. They were professional and friendly, answered all my questions without making me feel like I was a bother and in terms I could understand. To explain "I got more than my money's worth", the peace of mind in having someone who knows what they are doing, work in your home is greater than anything money can buy. I am extremely happy with their expertise and feel comfortable and safe with the work that they did.
