About us

As a small business owner I am the only employee of this company, which I hope to someday pass down to my sons. Jobs are billed differently depending on the size. Customers are charged in two ways; either by the hour, or with a bid total. Often times the bid is a better option for the customer, which allows them to plan ahead. We accept cash, check, & all major credit cards.

Rob was prompt with our appointment for developing an estimate and for the work performed. He worked with me on various options in order to achieve the lighting that we wanted at the lowest cost. He kept me informed as to the status of work and there were no suprises. That's all one can ask in hiring a contractor.

In the midst of wallpaper removal to begin immediately in a kitchen prior to painting, a decision was made to remove boxed florescent lighting and provide hardware and power for suspended lighting, Rob Warkins was called and asked to fit this installation into his busy schedule prior to arrival of the wallpaper remover painters. Rod setup an aggressive scheduled and arrived earlier than he originally anticipated. The work was completed in record time and Rob left to complete another job. With the electrical work completed in such a timely fashion the wallpaper removal was able to start on time. The special effort that Rob made in my behalf is greatly appreciated. This Angie's list member is a five star performer with great emphases on customer service.

Rob and I established a date and time for the work to be done, and Rob arrived on time was extremely efficient, and professional and completed the work tidied up and was gone.

I would hire Rob again to do any kind of electrical work in that he is a very trustworthy, efficient business owner.

Due to unusual wiring from previous contractors over past 60 years, Warkins spent majority of time tracking down the correct wires in order to make the conversion. Once correct wires were located, conversion was quickly done. Was not able to repair grounding cable this visit. Professional friendly prompt

"I must say that I was surprised by the grades... The offer you bought was for up to an hour of service for $79.... After the job was finished I know it was more than a hour, as I had to track down wires and figure out what the last guy did... There was quite a bit of conversation between myself and the both of you which did prolong the visit, but I am personable and will engage with the homeowner.. Also I offered to come back and fix the ground wire at no charge!!...I even stated that you don't have to be home... Once you buy this offer, I do not get $79.. Angies List has a fee and they send me s check for $63!!!... Way less than what you would have paid through another electrician or just by calling me direct... Angies List saves their customers a lot of money and use good honest people!!!.... The grade in my opinion needs to reflect this!!.. I feel this was a A rating across the board!!... Really disappointed!!"

There seemed to be a bit of confusion of meeting times to come over and survey the panel to see what was needed to complete the job. However, things worked out.  He replaced our panel in the morning and was professional and friendly. He even added an extra outlet by the circuit panel for no extra charge. I would definitely use him again and plan to call him up on a future project we have coming up.

Rob was very diligent in attempting to reach me to provide services on one of the original dates I had selected. He had struggles reaching me due to a glitch in Angie's List service request not containing my phone number and the Angie's List staff not providing my number when he called them requesting it. Through email we resolved the communication hiccup and rescheduled. Rob patiently listened to me explain the various things that  needed to be addressed in the house and then installed a new light, went through step by step trouble shooting with a light that would not work to ensure all the wiring was to standard and then advised on addressing old house struggles with the the kitchen light. He also reviewed with me other electrical service items I am hoping to accomplish in the near future so he could provide an estimate on time and cost. He was punctual and expedient AND a great sense of humor which I greatly appreciated at the end of the day. I highly recommend his services. I will definitely hire him again.

I hired Rob to install a roof de-icing system due to the issue we have had with ice damming the last few winters.
Rob was timely with his communications before and during the project.  He is personable and straightforward.  His estimate was reasonable and he was able to complete the job within my time frame.  I cannot speak to the actual functionality of the roof heating cables but will update my review after we see some snowfall.
I would hire Rob for other electrical projects at my home and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

Job was done in a timely manner and we feel that Rob's work is quality. Rob is very professional, personable and an excellent communicator as are the people who work with him. Warkins Electric probably isn't the cheapest around but you get what you pay for and we are very happy working with Warkins Electric and will do so again.

Rob called ahead and said he could be there in 30 minutes.  He showed up on time and was very personable.  He looked the situation over and reconnected the wires and connected the electric garage door opener.  He then come in the house and checked over more work I would like done.  He will send me an invoice and will do the work in about three weeks.  That sounds fantastic to me!!

Mr. Warkins was very helpful to us!  We received a call from our tenant one weekend regarding repeated GFCI outlet clicking and a burning smell from a kitchen outlet.  We looked on Angie's List for electricians with great reviews, of which Warkins Electric had many A-rating reviews and positive customer feedback.  We decided to utilize one of his offers on his Angie's List page.  We called him on a Sunday evening just to confirm that DeKalb was not out of his service area.  We scheduled an appointment with him for the following Wednesday.  He arrived to our rental unit on time and was very kind to our tenant.  Upon identifying the problematic issue, he called us to discuss the matter prior to performing any service work.  We found this very helpful and after giving him the go ahead he was able to fix improperly installed GFCI outlets and ensure proper performance in only a few minutes.  Additionally, we asked if he would investigate an issue in the basement, which was not part of our original plan.  He was more than helpful!  He took care of that issue as well on the spot.  Total cost was $120 for the original job and for the last minute additional work. We came to the rental drop off payment to and he was more than happy to review all that was done.  He is very easy to work with and a pleasure to talk to.  We specifically appreciate how straightforward he is, with no unnecessary up-sells or uncomfortable sales pitches.  I now have him in my phone's contacts and will be using him and only him for my electrical needs.  Thanks for your flexibility and honesty Rob!

We thought we needed some electrical help so we ordered the services from Warkins. The issue resolved itself so we are currently no longer in need of assistance. We would hire Warkins again in the future but did not need them this time. We contacted Warkins and they were very gracious to cancel our appointment. Thank you for issuing our refund.

I called Rob and explained what I needed. He came out the next morning to look at the job. He provided an estimate and said he would return later that afternoon. Rob arrived when he said he would and got to work. He completed the job quickly, efficiently and professionally. My wife and I were very pleased. I would have Rob do other electrical work for us in the future. I would also recommend Rob to anyone needing electrical work.

I have used Rob before and am very pleased with his service! Had a tenant turn on a light switch in the basement and she said she seen sparks and then lost half the power in the basement. He changed the switched and checked everything to make sure safe. All is good!

Everything he did was great.  He was always on time.  The job came in under his estimation.  He cleaned up after everything he did.  I will have him do more work for me down the road.  I would highly recommend him to other people.  He is a very nice man and kept us in the loop with everything.

Rob had quoted us a price of $250-$300 for the job. The job ended up costing us $185 because it didn't take as long as he originally thought it would. We will definitely use Warkins Electric again in the future.
