After a night of enduring warm air blowing from my home's A/C vents and finding an iced-up evaporator coil in the basement, I called this company at 7:30 in the morning. Two technicians showed up at about 9:30 AM. I took a day off from work to make this repair appointment happen. They had a quick look at my evaporator unit in the basement, then headed outside to look at the compressor unit. One guy received a cell phone call, and went to the truck. The other guy removed the cover of the electrical junction box, disconnected the power to the compressor, then removed the compressor cover. When he saw it covered with ice, he said, "Well, we can't do anything with this right now. We'll have to let the ice melt before we can service it. We'll come back later this afternoon." He wrote down my cell phone number. With that, he jumped in the truck and they were gone. He left the two covers off/open. By 1:00 PM, big thunderstorms had rolled in, and heavy downpours drenched the exposed air conditioner electrical terminals and the open junction box. At 4:30 PM, I decided to call and get an idea of when they might be able to return and finish the job. There was no answer, so I left a courteous message asking them to please call me as soon as possible. They did not return the call. At 6:40 PM, I called and said that I HAD to get the air conditioner fixed today because I would not be available the next day, and would they please call me. I said that if I hadn't heard from them within one hour, I would have to get someone else to do the job. They never called me back. I called another guy, who fixed the problem quickly and professionally. But I'd wasted an entire day waiting for the call that never came. So, in summary, these guys a). left my air conditioner unit (and its electrical junction box) open and exposed to the inclement weather, b). did not return when they said they would, and c). would not return multiple phone calls. This kind of treatment is why many repair service businesses have bad reputations, and Affordable Heating & Air Conditioning lived up to that bad reputation. There is no excuse for a lack of communication in this day and age of cell phones. And there certainly is no excuse for leaving a half-completed job open to the weather. I am very disappointed in the treatment I got from this company.
Description of Work: Tried to get them to service my inoperative home air conditioner. All they actually did was remove the cover of my air compressor and open the nearby electrical junction box. (Read below for the ugly details).
