It didn't last and all bubbled up, need to do it again.
Response from Castle Painting

"Sorry [Member Name Removed], but we do make it very clear that deck surfaces are not guaranteed. Snow, water sit on them all winter, people walk on them, etc. Very difficult to get a deck surface to last more than 2 years. Yours looks like it was done 3 years ago possibly. We are happy to look at the project and see if anything was done improperly. You can contact me directly at [email protected] and we can arrange a time to come out and look at it if you like."

We've been extremely happy with the extensive work that Castle Painting has done for us. This has included painting the exterior and entire interior of our home; power washing and staining our deck; and repairing and replacing wood window frame sections that needed it. During every step of projects we've had done, the guys are professional, friendly, and prompt, and their pricing has been reasonable. Rick, the owner, Dave, the project manager, Brian, the project supervisor for the painters, and Jose, who provided the estimate for the interior painting job, have all been organized, courteous, and have gone out of their way for us. The painters themselves take a lot of pride in their work, and Brian was very receptive to requests that we made. Finally, since I am writing this during the 2020 pandemic, we totally appreciate Dave's understanding that we chose to postpone work on our staircase because we are at high risk for the virus. In short, I highly recommend Castle Painting.

It took four days to do all this work but these guys were very careful moving furniture. They also made sure everything was covered if there were any paint drips. They put everything back and their cleanup was very good.

Very well. Detailed quotes were provided for all work. The work was performed as quoted. Scope changes, as discovered, were handles with precise change orders.

Excellent! Castle Painting exceeded our expectations and from the prep work they did prior to painting (powerwashed and special cleaners, caulk, etc.) To the painting and final touchups, they even quoted and added additional work during the process. Our whole house looks like new and we will have them return to focus on inside paint jobs in the near future. We highly recommend Castle to make your castle new again!

If you need any work done on the exterior of your house: replacing cedar siding, painting, any kind of woodwork, I highly recommend Castle Painting!! Good old fashioned pride in the quality of work they give you. We have had them work on the exterior of our house 2 times and painting new doors throughout our whole house. I wasn't completely satisfied with the doors and Dave had someone out the next week to go over every single door. They came out beautifully!!! I will be hiring them this winter for interior painting. You cannot go wrong with them!

It went GREAT! I am a real estate Broker and recommend Castle to all of my clients needing painting or carpentry. Like all of the trades, they were swamped this summer with all of the storm damage in the area. I was always kept up to date, and when it was time for the work to be done, the guys did a great job and I completely trust them. Highly recommend! Local family business, competitive pricing, and quality work.

Excellent work. They performed all the work required and even fixed an extra bit of wood damage that wasn't included in the initial estimate. Good job of letting us know when they thought they might be able to start and keeping us in the loop on two rain delays that pushed the work a few more days.

The experience was very unprofessional and insulting. From the beginning to the end. First, when I agreed to use them, they said they could call me in advance to let me know when they will start the work and gave me a time frame of mid-May. I early April, they showed up at my house to start the work without any notice. They were going to start on the carpentry work. I called the Project Manager, who was the one who was supposed to call me and let me know when they would start. He was very rude and obnoxious. He said he had sent me an email at 7pm the night before. I checked and it was in my spam folder. I then called the sales person I had spoken with and he started to give me excuses about his behavior. From then on, the PM would text me but was never aware of what was going on. When his team came out to power wash the house, they left a mess on my yard, with their empty bleach bottles and trash all over my yard. The PM was rude about it again. They did come out the next day to clean it up. The PM would not update on the schedule of when his team will be working and when certain things that I needed to do, such as remove the gutters, would need to be done. The team showed up one day and started working but since I wasn't told when they needed to have the gutters removed, I wasn't able to and they had to work around it. The Windows were to be done also and the PM didn't know anything about that. When I asked him about it, he told me that they would need access to inside the house. There was no else at home at the time and I wasn't comfortable giving them access. I ended up letting one of their workers in the house, but he left a mess every where. He had left dust and dirt and had moved furniture that he didn't bother to put back. They removed all the screens but didn't bother to put them back up. Finally, they were supposed to paint out deck as well. They asked for a color, which we provided them. When they went to get the paint for that, they called me and tole me that color was not available in the stain that they needed. The color we chose was a semi-transparent and they needed a solid color. They didn't tell us this when they asked for a color. I was speaking with the foreman on the job at this time. He had texted me from the paint shop. By accident, he texted me instead of someone else. In that text, he was complaining to the person that we had chosen a color in a different stain, and had called me a "f*king idiot" for doing so (I have the text). He called me immediately trying to make some excuse that he was talking about someone else but then admitted he meant me and tried to apologize. I forwarded the text and called the sales guy again and asked him what this was about. I told them to finish the windows and to leave after that. The sales person was making excuses for him at first, saying he must have had bad a day. Eventually, he apologized for it, but not after he made a bunch of excuses. When I got the invoice from them, they only took $200 off for their behavior. And their invoice didn't make any sense. They didn't break it out so I don't know what I'm paying for and what they took off for the work they did not do. The PM called later asking to finish the job while I'm out of town. I told him that my wife and I don't trust them. He was only concerned about scheduling his team for the next project and not really concerned with how they treated us.
Response from Castle Painting

"After some initial hiccups (our project mgrs fault most definitely) and, after a long winter and rainy spring we are trying to get the season started. Once on a project the painters/employees are trying to finish up and move onto the next project. Foreman on site is communicating with client to arrange colors, co-ordinate continuation of project and things we need to finish up. This became pretty difficult for project mgr and for foreman. My foreman of 10 years became very frustrated and sent an inappropriate text accidentally to client when they weren't going to be able to work and finish up the project and move to another home. He felt horrible(as did we). Good guy who did something stupid. He/We apologized (suspended him) and sent another crew out to finish up. We did. Customer seemed to think we should do the project for almost nothing or he would put up a bad review. We gave him 10% off his project but there really wasn't any pleasing him at this point. We don't run from our issues and we don't try to hide the fact that some jobs don't go perfect and you do your best to complete them, do the best for the customer(within reason) and move on. In this instance although we are focused on the project we are on, it is expensive to move equipment to another site, have employees show up to work and the customer won't give them access or is going to have a color ready and doesn't. Send the painters home who lose a days worth of wages. All this costs money. After the initial scheduling mixup on our part, we communicated with this customer all along and the crew still couldn't work full days, have access to complete the project. Other invoicing issues are not true. Our invoicing clearly matches proposal given to the customer."

Mark and Javier were fabulous to work with. Clean, careful and respectful, they were always very professional. They worked around all of our quirks without a problem. They made sure I was content each day before they left and let me know what the plan was for the next day, which really helped me plan my days. Brian stopped in regularly to check the job and supplies. I believe the job done was the best we’ve ever had. Putting things back, I don’t have one complaint. Thank you so much for a clear, detailed estimate and a job well done!

I was more than happy with the very professional job that was done inside and outside of my house. The very best paint was used, the job was done on time and the house looks absolutely beautiful on the inside and out. The painters were very polite and professional. The sales person and the supervisor were just wonderful to work with. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants an excellent paint project with a warranty. Linda W.

Response from Castle Painting

"Sorry [Member Name Removed] but we have no record of you calling. Not thru Angie's List site or our answering service or our website. You know, there's a window company in Pennsylvania that we often get erroneous phone calls about a dozen times a year. I think our '888' numbers are similar. Hopefully the people who erroneously call us instead of them aren't throwing 'F's' around and damaging their reputation. Happy to help if you still need something done."

We are absolutely thrilled with the work Castle did on our house. The carpenters did an excellent job, even surpassing our expectations! The painters followed immediately and also did a fabulous job. Everyone on the Castle team was skilled, hardworking and thoughtful. While not an inexpensive job, the cost was competitive with others and feel it was a good value. Thanks to Rick and Castle Painting's great work, our house looks brand new! We highly recommend them! We wish Angie's list still had a Page of Happiness because the job they did for us is A+++.
