HOUSE OF HEAT

Came approximately on time, reviewed condition of furnace and AC, provided hx of products, checked them out.

A/c broke down on hottest day of the year, as usual. Called around a million places and these guys were the only ones who came through. Engineer showed up at 9pm, and fixed it all up. Great service.

We noticed our system was just blowing cold air sometime on a Saturday and put in a call to their answering service that night. Got a call back from the service side and they told us they could have someone come by the following morning. They showed up at 10am (I think) and the repair/replacement was done in about half an hour. The work came at a premium because it was next day and on a weekend, but it was worth it to have it done quickly and while someone was at home. They did let me know their weekend rate before I agreed to the service call. I don't know how their rate compares to other service providers.

Phoned at about 8:15 Saturday morning identifying a failed circulating pump on a hot water boiler as the problem and asking that it be reparied. Temperature was below freezing so it needed to be fixed the same day. The technician phoned back in about an hour; as agreed arrived in about another hour; repaired what was needed and left within about another hour. Price was as stated on the phone. Work was done competently and quickly within the one hour minimum labor charge. And I had the rest of Saturday to do what I had planned - no need to wait and wait and wait for the service guy as is my all too frequent experience. Thank you House of Heat

We called House of Heat to have someone look into why the system was blowing air that wasn't cold but wasn't hot either. The system was unable to heat the house up to the temp we programmed into the thermostat. We noticed the issue late Saturday night and called them on Sunday but as the temperature was in the house was maintaining 62 degrees we didn't request that a technician show up on Sunday, although they would have sent someone on call if we requested. I do not know House of Heat charges to send someone during non-business hours. House of Heat phoned us just after 7AM on Monday and Howard arrived at 7:30AM. He inspected the furnace and chimney. He determined that the problem was that there was water in the tubing to the pressure switch, and showed us exactly how to look for this if we have a similar issue in the future. He clearly knows his stuff and didn't hesitate to explain the workings of the furnace. The house was back up to 67 degrees within the hour. Please note that current price for a normal service call runs $89.50 but we used the 5% off service call coupon from Angie's list customers. Every little bit helps. We definitely got our money's worth!

They were polite, friendly, punctual and thourough. We had almost no heat to the entire upstiars of our house and feared a huge repair bill. House of Heat came out very quickly, flushed the lines, explained the problem and told us that routine maintenece was all that was needed. The service man also suggested we oil the belts every 3 years and asked if we would like to have that done. There were no surprises or big bills. I will continue to use them for regular maintenecnce.

This was a terrible, sickening experience.

The water heater in the house we just moved into was old and leaking small amounts of CO based on our inspection. I called a number of companies for quotes. House of Heat was on the high end of the quotes I got, but when I compared the specifics on the water heater models (they were all 50 gallon, but BTUs ranged from 40,000 to 65,000) and also asked about additional costs associated with installing in an older house I found their quote to be competitive. We had also had them do some work on our AC recently and were very happy with the results. The technician arrived right on time and completed the work in the 3 hour window they gave us. He also replaced some of the gas line going to the heater because the old piping was lose.

As soon as the replacement part arrived from UPS they called and scheduled installation the same day. The technition replaced the motor and then went outside to make sure our compressor outside was clean and functional. He ended up adding some coolent to the system and cleaning out the compressor coils.

The person who came out was helpful and competent, and did a good job. He found a unique solution to my problem, and I found out that it wasn?t easy what he had done for me. I appreciate that they came out and did a small job that no one else wanted.

The technician called to see if he could come early to appointment which was great. He cleaned and checked the furnace and air conditioner and was extremely honest about the age of the system but did not try to oversell me on replacing the system as it is still working well. He replaced one part on the furnace and added freon to the air conditioner so that I can attempt to get one or more years out of the current system but was extremely honest. As a single female home owner I appreciate the honesty and lack of upsell that I feel I have to prepare for each time I have work done on my house.

I called and set up an appt. The call was handled professionally and pleasantly. On the day of service, the repairman arrived on time and cleaned the boiler. He cleaned the area afterwards and said the boiler was in good condition and that I would not need to have it cleaned for 2 years. He was great.

The sealed hot water boiler system in my house stopped heating during the night and I noticed that most of my radiators were cold when they should have been heating. I discovered at a later point in the day(after already making my appointment with House of Heat)that a baseboard radiator pipe had frozen and cracked in a back room. The system had no water pressure because most of the water had drained out into a crawlspace under the room. The technician arrived and phoned the main office and spoke with the owner who charted a course of action. The first technician was not able to help so he left and the owner arrived within 5 minutes with another technician and they quickly got to work to fix the immediate problem and get heat back in the house. The owner discussed follow-up options for the broken section of radiator pipe and will be sending a quote within a week.

When I called for an appointment, I was told the cost would be $815 and that the job would take between 3 hours and 3-and-a-half hours. The contractor arrived on time, the final bill was $815 and the job took 3 hours and 5 minutes. Can do much better than that.

They were able to come out right away when I called them and I had a new water heater installed that same day. They were very professional and responsive and did a great job.

This company has done a great job for me. They are responsive and professional. The furnace that they put in is running great and even though we could've found someone cheaper they are worth it.

Overall, went just as Dave king said it would. You have no idea what a difficult job it was...hard to describe. They wiped clean 100 years of add on after add on equipment and systems that could no longer do what we needed our system to do in the summer and winter...in an old house that was changed and renovated countless times making it difficult for them to access many areas between floors and walls. They cleaned up their mess, they respected the structural integrity of the house, and kept the vents and intakes in places that were subtle. Service was good, always takes longer than we want, but big payoff.

Great. We have them come annually. They are very knowledgeable, honest and professional. They are reliable-they show up when they say they will. I definitely recommend their work.

My experience with them overall was good. I would give them A's across the board because they were very punctual and they explained every step of what they were doing. They were also very professional and very competitive in price and very convenient to schedule with.

Overall everything with the technician, Mike, was great. Only complaint is in scheduling appt. with person on phone. I indicated I wanted both heating and A/C service and when Mike arrived he said only was scheduled for heating/furnace service. He did not have time for both. I also had told receptionist that I was an Angie's list member and she said all I had to do was tell the serviceman and he would discount 5% from bill. Mike said I was supposed to have the coupon printed from internet (which I did not), but he discounted 5% anyway. I will use this company again for my future home heating/cooling needs.

They are very professional and reliable and I really enjoyed using them. I am having them do some more work for me because I liked them that much. I thought the price was reasonable.

They are great. They are there the next day when you call them. They are dependable and honest. I have never felt that they are over charging me. I would recommend them.

He was very punctual and professional. He started by going through each room where there was an issue and then down to the basement to look at the boiler. He then went back into each room to see what would need to happen. He told me immediately what would need to be replaced, tightened or fixed then he got to work. The price was higher than I liked but it took a while and he was definitely working the whole time. I was more disappointed by the amount of work that needed doing, not with how he was doing it. The only thing that upset me was that about a week later I noticed there was a dent in our wood floor next to the radiator in the kitchen. We had it covered in plastic as workmen were coming in and out and I noticed it once I had lifted the plastic. We just had new hard wood floors put in and the dent definitely wasn't there previously. I know the radiator is probably heavy and he had to put it down quickly and he did put it on a towel that he brought, but I was upset about the dent in the new hardwood floor. I'm also pretty sure I mentioned that I was an Angie's list member but he never mentioned the 5% discount and I forgot about it until I just went on the site to rate them. They were initially recommended by a friend but then I looked them up on the list. It would have been nice if they had mentioned it but it's possible I forgot to mention it myself. I would use them again but I would want them to be more careful about the floor. The cost was about $100 in parts and the rest was materials which seemed reasonable to me.
