They were great! During a storm, a basement  window broke, and water started POURING in. Dave came that night, boarded up the window, and set up several dehumidifiers. His crew was there the next morning (a Sunday) and mopped, cleaned, and drilled holes in the baseboards to try to save the drywall. They were successful and saved us a lot of money.

David Shindler was a pleasure to work with along with Freddy.  They were very professional and responsive to drying out the water damaged areas of our daughters' rooms.  The one issue we had was not his fault.  My insurance company, State Farm, was slow to process the claim and the rooms took several months to fix because of this delay.  David was apologetic about this; however, I realize he was not delaying the restoration process.

David kept us informed about the restoration process and stopped by several times to see how things were progressing.

I would recommend David and his crew to perform work in the future.  Fire and Flood Restoration did some quality work on our daughters' rooms.  Thank you David.

Sincerely,

Jonathan M. Kamen

At first things were great. We flooded on a Saturday night, and discovered it on Sunday morning. We called David at Fire and Flood and he was out by mid afternoon that day. The next morning demolition began and for the next 4 days or so bag after bag of wet carpet/drywall/etc was carried out. Soon the giant fans and dehumidifiers were working and things seemed to be moving along. My insurance adjuster came out and met with David and I together. About a week later the fans and dehumidifiers were taken out, and that's when all work stopped.
Despite being assured by my insurance adjuster that I had the cadillac of policies when it came to sump/sewer back up, David didn't start any restoration. Then David told me he wanted to wait for the insurance company to approve the work. The insurance adjuster approved it within 2-3 days of receiving the estimate. It was David who took 3 weeks to get the information to the adjuster.
So now it has been 4 weeks since I flooded. Then David started missing phone messages. David told me that it will be at least another two weeks before he can even start work, that I need to be patient, and that he's very busy. He couldn't give me a date for when work would resume. It got to the point where I had to text him every time I left a message or sent an email to ensure that he saw it and would respond.
Then I found out he had been paid directly by the insurance company approximately $8200 for the clean up. That was separate and apart from the $25,000 that had been approved for the restoration. After consulting with my insurance adjuster I learned that I was under no obligation from the insurance company to work with David or Fire and Flood Restoration Specialists.
So I called and got bids to have the drywall done. I received three bids and because I was still trying to be fair to David, asked him to submit a bid as well. It took several days for him to respond and when he did, his bid was double the price of the most expensive bid I received.
It's really too bad because his team did great work on the demolition, but his inattentive nature to my needs as a customer and inflated price structure resulted in his losing the bigger part of the job.
I would recommend Fire and Flood for the demolition, but I would not recommend them for restoration.

David and his crew came to my aid on Labor Day weekend. They had to completely remove a ceiling to give access to duct work which was leaking and causing damage to an apartment, so that the ductwork could be insulated to prevent further leaking. They then put up dry wall, primed, sanded, painted the apartment, put in new carpet and did clean up work. It was basically a remodel of the entire apartment. His workers were prompt, hardworking, cleaned up after themselves, were professional and pleasant. David was attentive, responsive and a total pleasure to work with.

He did a good job with the removal and we were very pleased with David. I appreciated his information in what he told me to look into that might be asbestos underneath the carpet.

David was very responsive, took charge immediately and got the water out of my basement quickly.
He was always my main contact and returned my calls quickly even though he was slammed with business during the April floods. He was also very knowledgeable and helfpul in guiding me through my insurance claim. All in all a true professional.

They did a good job with our baseboards and didn't really damage them, but I felt like they took advantage of the situation by prolonging the process and being overly thorough and charging more than what was necessary with the set price rates. However, they were quick with their response.

Overall, they did get the job done although not as well or as reasonably priced as we had hoped. They were understandably busy, and one of the head guys had a family matter he needed to attend to (obviously a valid excuse), so we tried to be very fair in factoring this into our correspondence and dealings with them. We were grateful to have a company agree to come see us, as many were booked for weeks. David was professional when we did speak with him- although that was no easy task. However, the workers did not do a great job. Our sink was broken- they did agree to replace that and mistakes happen. A few weeks after the work was done, however, we noticed a faint smell returning and then discovered that the studs were all still covered with a layer of mud/river silt (the river flooded into our block). I had to personally re-clean and bleach them, which required me to add moisture to the wood and wait for them to dry...again. The walls were similarly dirty. I spoke with David about this- at first he claimed they cleaned and scrubbed everything several times, but then agreed to take this part off the bill and apologized. We still paid for the floors to be "cleaned", but I would say that is an overstatement. I then found insulation that had been left in the walls- while it was now dry due to the dehumidifiers, it was obviously not supposed to be there. We also had to finish ripping out water-damaged carpet. Their final bill informed us that they took out the overhead and profit in order to come in near estimate (3000), which I guess I appreciate...but really I'm not sure that the quality of the work merited this cost.

David, Arie and their partners and crew were great. They are exactly the kind of company who should be listed here. They went the extra 3 miles for us. And they kept their sense of humor and humanity about them all the while. I wanted to help them help their other clients. We haven't gotten a bill yet. But we discussed the estimated costs all along.
