See above for our story. Smitheen's sent out a tech who set traps, made several checks during the ensuing weeks, answered questions and reassured us. Cleaned up after himself each time he visited our home. Was very punctual and professional. Very friendly.

We wanted service for ants.  A representative came out.  We made a tentative appointment for several days later.  They never came back.  I even phoned the company again.  They seemed confused.

They did get rid of the ants, but I thought they were expensive.  It was just a one-time application and they were only warranting it for a month.  The guy who came out was almost too friendly.  The way he was projecting was that we were old time friends and he loved my mother and I just found it off putting.

It was good service.  They helped us to diagnose our problem and then to hopefully keep them from coming back.  We did have to call them back for a follow up service because there were termites that we found during some construction after we had had the service done.   That was  normal, they take a long time to get out of the system of the house so that's why they include a 30 and 90 day inspection after they do the treatment.  The pricing seemed about the same as others, it seemed average.

They come out every year. I pay them annually. We have a relationship with them. They do work for most of the people here because they offer a special price. They cleaned outside the house. They satisfied everything what I needed.

Dave was very courteous and professional in his work.  He was very thorough -- even took pictures up on the roof so I could see what the attic fan guard would look like once installed.  As it turns out, Dave ended up providing services to all units in my townhome complex, and he coordinated the work very well. My only complaint is about the price.  $175 is a lot for an inspection for this type of problem -- if I didn't have the Angie's List coupon it would have been $200.  That cost isn't applied toward any other work you have done.

Lance came for an estimate after I called saying I was afraid we had termites or carpenter ants because there was sawdust on our diningroom floor. Lance was great and went through the house and determined that beetles were the problem. He then said that he would send me an estimate of their year-round service. I said that was fine but that I would also like an estimate for just getting rid of the beetles. He said no problem and took my email address and said he'd get back to me quickly. Over 2 1/2 weeks later, I have heard nothing. I wonder if my job isn't big enough for them.

The inspector, Nestor, was on time, friendly and so knowledgeable. He did an incredibly thorough inspection. In the end, he did not find an infestation but he provided great information on how pests gain entry and what to do if I see that any have returned. If I ever have the need to eliminate pests (and of course I really hope I don't) I will be calling Smithereen. Nestor was wonderful.

I thought that the price was high. I don?t remember who was the last guy that I had because I have had two guys and they both were very nice and the customer service was very good. The second guy I told I could not afford it and he helped me by telling me what to do and said that I should get a bigger enough rock to cover the hole. He actually moved the rock for me that was in a very difficult place, under some bushes and he actually placed it for me and that was very helpful for me and I would use them again.

I called to request a person to come out and take care of a minor mouse problem in our kitchen. I got transferred to customer service, where the person on the phone took my name, address, etc. She then told me that someone would call me about setting up an appointment to do a free inspection. Later that person would then set up another appointment to actually do something about the problem. Sounded like a big rigamarole, but I went ahead with it. A week later, they still hadn't called back, so I called another company. That company came out two days later, inspected and treated in the same day, and did a follow-up appointment to make sure the treatment was affective. Smithereen called me about a week after the other company had taken care of the problem (after both visits). That was approximately three weeks after my first call to Smithereen. I hope that's not how they treat all their customers, but they can be sure I won't be calling again.

Smithereens was professional from start to finish. They came and gave us a free quote for the section of the basement with a problem. It was then easy to schedule an appointment to have the work preformed. They pulled down some of the insulation that was in the way, sprayed the ants, and vacuumed up the mess. We had had an ant's nest in the house, and they offered to come back for no extra charge if we found more ants in the next few weeks. We didn't see any more living, although a few straggled out and died in the middle of the basement floor in the next few days. I haven't seen ants in the months since then. Problem solved. Smithereens was more expensive than any other company we talked to, but it was a thorough job, specified to the one area with the problem, rather than a general house spray down. I would use them again if we have any further problems (but here's hoping we're done with ants -- and any kind of house pest for that matter!).

I was placed on hold 3 times, each time with no explanation. The 1st hold was several minutes. There was no explanation for the holds ? I think they were intended to make me listed to advertising. After the 3rd hold, my call was answered by a second person, who asked me to repeat the information I had earlier provided to the first receptionist. Neither seemed interested in my problem, only in quoting me theiir most expensive service. I had to ask about other levels of service that were less costly. I will look elsewerhere.

I wanted to schedule a particular day for someone to come out. I was called and they wanted to schedule me for a different day. Since that wouldn't work with my schedule he said he'd call me back. I never received another phone call. I called them back several days later and was able to schedule for my requested day. I was given a time range (before 12:00) for the appt. Willie called me before coming and did arrive before noon. He took an ant back to the lab to verify it was only a pavement ant. There was no charge for the initial consultation. Other than the mix up scheduling the appointment I was very happy with the experience.

Did not use this company because they never call me back to set up the initial inspection! I found this company listed as an "A" with some mixed reviews on Angie's list, but mostly high marks. I called to address a mouse problem we are having. The customer service rep I spoke with said that a tech would be calling me to set up an inspection. Since I read on Angie's List reviews that many people experienced poor response time with this company, I mentioned to the rep that I would like a return call quickly b/c of our mouse problem. It is over two weeks later and we have not received a call from this company. We have moved on and found help elsewhere. I am taking the time to write this review b/c I was very unhappy with my experience with this company. Being in the pest control and extermination business, this company needs to improve greatly on their response time and overall service to gain customers. Removing mice or any pest in your home is something that customers want to have handled swiftly not wait for weeks for a return call or even worse no call! Take a pass on this company....don't waste your precious time as those critters continue to multiply!

I was very disappointed, especially given the great reviews. I contacted the company and set up an appointment. I waited three days for the appointment. A technician came out to look at the issue and was to call with an estimate and plan. (I was at work but my child caregiver met him and showed him everything at the house.) He never called to follow up. I called to follow up and they couldn't find us in the system. They said someone would come the next day. No one ever showed up. I called to follow up and they couldn't figure out what happened. They sent me to customer service who would not listen to what happened but just wanted to talk about how far north they work (even though we are in their area). It was very frustrating.

It all went very well. They kept records of the temperatures maintained using twenty sensors distributed throughout the apartment. During the day they changed the position of the contents of the apartment to assure even application of heat to everything in the unit. We elected to trash the beds and upholstered furniture just in case. The trash people, after inspecting the apartment very carefully and finding no evidence of live bedbugs, concluded that the items could be removed without bagging. So we deemed the treatment that Smithereen provided to be successful.

They were fantastic. The guy that came out could not have been more professional or more helpful. He spent the time and explained things before he came out. They called and sent me an email with all the protocols that you should do if you have bedbugs. He didn't find anything and we didn't have any. He spent at least an hour and he only charged me a $100. He did move the large mattress and box spring. He was great and told me what to do if I saw anything. He told me to put double edge tape on the edges of the bed. I found out that if you have a problem with bedbugs, you need to heat up the room. He gave me some great tips because we travel all the time. We travel all over the world and he said that we should call ahead of time to tell them we want the mattress vacuumed and encased before we arrive. They were outstanding.

Dave was completely professional, intelligent and courteous and showed up to crawl on our roof and inspect for squirrels on a rainy day. He knew we were starting on roof repair the next day, so wanted to ensure traps were set for removal of squirrels and their potential babies. He also worked with our roofers, Tans (from Angie's List reco) for an overall positive and professional experience. Thanks to AL for setting us up with these professionals!
