Bob Jaacks Rustic Wood Fencing & Decks

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I was a return customer that needed a few fence posts replaced as they rotted out. The quote was very high but they had done a good job in the past. We asked them to check other posts as well to be sure and let us know which ones to replace. They proceeded to just replace all posts in the line while we were gone for 30 mins. At least 2 of the 3 posts were just fine and did not need to be replaced. They then charged over $800 for the additional three posts they added and refused to wait the 10 minutes until we arrived to take the invoice or deal with it. In addition they did not bother to check the remaining fence as we asked and failed to clean up. They left dirt and concrete everywhere. We then called the following Monday as this occurred on a Friday, asked them to come out to finish and dispute the bill. They did not come out as planned and then told us to make an appointment. That all their fees are fixed and each post starts at $350 for the first one and $275 for each one after. Never did they tell us this in the quote or prior to installing the posts. We are left with a mess to clean and paid exorbitant fees for terrible work. Stay away!

I contacted them one or two weeks after our installation (early Oct.) about the latch not being aligned properly. The gate has been blowing open and shut and now the latch is held in place by one screw. I have contacted them at least 6 times, no word back. I have read other reviews like this on other sites. A horrible way to do business. I will tell everyone I know to avoid this company. I am also contacting our towns permit department.

We've used them before and they have done good work. I would have liked more detail in the estimate. They provided pricing options for us.

great good experience

It was easy to set up a time to get a quote and then get the work done. The workmanship was excellent. I was worried about the gate lining up after the work was done but they did it perfectly. The only issue was that they left a bit of a mess. The work was performed while we were not home (as arranged) so we didn’t have a chance to inspect things at the time the work was done. There were five old nails, a bunch of nails attached to one another for a pneumatic nail gun, I’m guessing, and a small saw blade on the ground as well. Luckily I found it all before my dog did. When I went in to the shop to pay the bill and mentioned the work was great but that there was “a bit of a mess,” they guys there said something like “yeah, the guys do that”.

Ryan Jaacks was great to work with. He was able to come out to the house for an estimate 24 hours after inquiring originally on if they could perform the work. He provided a CAD drawing of the design we had given him and it turned out great. His team was able to complete a 9x16 backyard deck in approximately 4 build days and was extremely accommodating to any minor changes that occurred. Ryan and his team were extremely professional and the quality of the work is outstanding. We will be calling Ryan and Rustic Woodman back to complete a fence in the back yard soon!

It didn’t go! Very poor customer service! I messaged them via Angie’s list and I was told to call their office. So I did that but no answer so I left a message. After a couple of days after leaving a voicemail, I messaged on AL again. It is now over 2 weeks and I haven’t heard back! If I was another potential customer, I would definitely avoid this company!!!!

This is the company you want to hire!! They have excellent installers, use high quality materials, work quickly, thoroughly and are reliable. When a problem arose,( yes, this can happen) Bob managed it with fairness, professionalism, and immediately. Sergio and Jose worked hard and with the utmost dedication. I couldn’t have found a better fence group. We are extremely satisfied, would definitely hire them again, and give Rustic Wood Fence our highest recommendation!!

At the first hint of consumer dissatisfaction, the owner turned unresponsive and mean. He threatened to take us to court if we didn't pay. He could have retained us as future customers for other work we had already discussed with his brother, but we were not treated like valued customers. All went well in terms of booking and installation. Price was a bit high, but they came recommended. The workers did good quality work. However, one section of the fence was supposed to slope gradually downward; this was installed in the wrong location. I called immediately while the workers were still at my home, and the kind, friendly grandson was suddenly stubborn and unwilling to make it right. When I explained that we had discussed the location in person, he claimed not to remember this. His "plan" was 2 pencil lines on a piece of notebook paper that did not indicate the correct location for the slope. End product looks good but was not what I had asked for!

Job went almost exactly as planned. They provided a cost and time estimate both of which were met. Quality was top notch. When I complained about a particular issue, they came out and redid the work twice until it was done correctly. The trex deck looks great, and is a big improvement over the wood deck they replaced.

Excellent customer service & response

I couldn't ask for a better experience. They showed up when they said they would. Did a great job with a friendly professional crew. The Privacy wooden gates they installed look great. Was such a breath of fresh air after a horrible experience with another vendor. Wouldn't go any where else now.

Bad. The company they used (D.I.G.G.E.R.) to locate underground lines went to the front of the house instead of the back yard and they only mark "public" lines. Consequently they cut the electrical line from my house to my garage, they tried to splice it, but it didn't last more then a week. They told me they were not responsible and to read the statement on the proposal. If you hire them make sure you call your own surveyor. Don't trust them to do it properly. The fence cost me an additional $2500.00 because they don't locate "privately" installed lines.

I had someone come out to provide an estimate to build a new deck on the back of our home. Their representative came out, met with me, said they could totally do the job I was asking and then told me they would respond with a quote within the week. I never heard back from them. Disappointing since they had such good reviews.

Fabulous! They came when they said they would come and were very professional. The quality of work top. The fence looks awesome. We couldn't be happier. I would hire them again.

From quote to finished product Rustic Fence was a great company to work with. Installers were professional, cleaned up after themselves and answered all of my questions. Would use them again for sure.
