The shampooer was making noise and not working properly. Conrad found the problem immediately - the filter was clogged. He cleared it and showed me how to keep the shampooer from clogging. Very professional. Ten minutes and he was finished. $8.75 was the total for fixing it.

I emailed Conrad the Vacuum Man on a Friday evening and within an hour he emailed me back. The next evening (a Saturday) I drove to his home/business to drop off my Vacuum and Bissell Carpet Cleaner. Both he and his wife were pleasant and they have a beautiful home. It was an easy experience. Since each machine was only around 4 years old yet never maintained, they were in bad shape. When I dropped the machines off, Conrad said I'd hear from him that Wednesday (4 days later). He called the very next day to say the vacuum was ready and said I could pick it up sooner than thought.

There was a small glitch that was quickly resolved. When I got the carpet cleaner home and began using it, something burnt within the first few minutes. I called Conrad and was able to get a hold of him right away. He was apologetic and said to bring it back so he could look. Another part had gone and thus the burnt smell. He didn't charge me for the labor, only the cost of the add'l part which was like $10-15.

I will try to keep these machines maintained at least annually by Conrad. My vacuum cost approx $300 new (it is the Bissell Pet Erasure) and my Bissell Carpet Cleaner was approx $250 at the time. I spent $70 on the vacuum to be repaired and approx $80 on the carpet cleaner.

All in all, it was an easy experience and glad I didn't have to put these machines in a landfill and dish out money for new ones!

The Vacuum Man is a great local resource. He can repair any type of vac or shampooer, promptly, at a reasonable price. He responded next day to my phone message. I brought my hand vac to his home on a Saturday afternoon. He welcomed me in and introduced me to his wife. While she and I were chatting, he completed the cleaning and replacement in a separate work area. Within 20 minutes, the bearings and brush roller were cleaned and a new belt was installed. A bonus is that the Vacuum Man and his wife are welcoming and pleasant. The repair space is inside their lovely home.

The vacuum head ceased working on Easter Sunday. It seemed like an electrical failure, and it was far too young to have this type of a catastrophic failure. After searching the list for local providers and finding none, I saw this one listed on Yahoo with extremely high marks. I called Conrad and he encouraged me to come over (even though it was 8pm) and drop the vacuum off. We talked briefly about what it might be and he said he would see if he could get it covered under warranty while I promised to produce the necessary paperwork. When he called Monday morning, he had fixed the problem: a balky connection in the hose, and warned me that it would no longer telescope (not an issue for short me) and that it WOULD fail again. He did cover it under warranty, and, as such, my cost was nothing, but I made the decision on the drive over there to have him order the necessary parts to replace whatever he said it needed so we could be in control of the failure, as opposed to the failure happening at an inopportune time. Conrad also showed me how to let the vacuum build up vacuum pressure before turning the head on and to power off in sequence. Who knew?
