Vince Shala and his crew did a great job. They removed our old deck and built a new, larger one in two days. They worked fast but very clean and with high quality carpentry. On Day 2 of the job, we decided we wanted some additional work done, so Vince and his crew came back on a Sunday to do that additional work - again, completing it quickly, cleanly and well. I was impressed by the little details. For example, Vince made his own post caps from a single piece of cedar, crafting each one by hand with multiple cuts. They are much nicer than the post caps you can purchase at a lumber yard or big box store. He and his crew are talented and work very well together.

I would recommend Vince to anyone who is looking for a deck or porch built. 

When Tony and Vince arrived they were ready to work.  On day one we were nervous but trusted their judgment to bring life back to our kitchen, the hub of our house.  By the end of day one they had all the old cabinetry removed.  On day two they started the roughing in for the new cabinets and dishwasher.  By day three they had the kitchen cabinets in and the granite counter-tops installed.  On day four they started the remodel of the adjacent powder room, making sure to tie in the design elements they used in the kitchen.  By day five they were putting the finishing touches on both rooms and tidying up.  They left the kitchen and bath ready to use with little more than reloading all the kitchen items (dishes, silverware, pots/pans, etc.) into the new cabinets, and putting up new towels in the powder room.  

They were spot on with their selection of cabinetry, granite, and flooring.  They even went above and beyond and picked up the dishwasher which we had not allowed enough time to have delivered once purchased.  We highly recommend Shala Construction if you want top quality, professional work and great attention to detail.  We definitely will be calling on them for future remodeling projects.

The job took four days. The deconstruction was one day and the other three were spent constructing the deck. The Shala guys are courteous and respectful. They are hard workers and display excellent work skills. They also showed pride in their work. Vince is the one I dealt with from estimate to end and was a great communicator as well being accommodating on questions and comments. He took time for friendly conversation. The men cleaned up the work site each day. The final day the cleanup was so complete that one of the guys vacumned the grass and tried to extricate sawdust that had accumulated in the garden. There were three little things that had to be completed after the majority of the work was done. They returned and completed them in a timely manner. I would not hesitate to have this company back for another project and will enthusiastically recommend them to anyone looking for a general contractor. They made it a very positive experience. AND we love our new deck!

A pleasure to work with from start to finish. Punctual,clean,professional.  They are committed to making sure that the homeowner is satisfied with the job and will do what it takes to make it happened.  As with any remodeling there were unexpected problems the arose but they were dealt with a ''can do" attitude.  The end result is beautiful. We so enjoyed having them around that we were sad to see them go but luckily they are coming back for another job soon!

All contractors promise quality work. Shala Construction delivers. No subcontractors, project managers or hired help. Vince, the owner, and his brother and cousin did all the work and seemed to genuinely enjoy and take pride in what they did. When they uncovered rotten wood behind some siding, they tore it out and installed a new post with no additional charges. They took into consideration my suggestions for changes and sought my approval as the projects went forward. A neighbor had another contractor build front steps with the same design as ours. They look similar, but when you look closer the attention to detail of the Shala construction is obvious.

Vince and an assistant arrived promptly and soon had the old deck off, new deck framed by the end of the day. Finished installation the next day.They left the area clean and tidy and made sure that everything was perfect. Vince is very pleasant to work with and very easy to get a hold of.

First of all, Vince Shala is a great guy. He did everything he said his company would do, did it on time, listened to every question and request, and helped advise us on the trickier parts. The end product is actually better than we had hoped, thanks to Vince.
I felt like I had a real partner here, and that he had my best interests in mind. So I can't recommend them more highly.
And by the way, look at their website: They do a lot of other things: roofing, interiors, etc. If Vince said he could do the job, I'd trust him.

I had a long list of projects that I wanted to get done, and had decided that I would get them all done at the same time so that I didn't have to live in a construction site for an extended period of time.  I thought I would have to have different contractors because of the variety of things I wanted to get completed.  I had a parade of companies come through and give me estimates.  I was having a terrible time finding someone to give me a quote on getting a new front porch built.  I found Shala Construction on Angies List, called Vince, and he was there the next day to give me an estimate.  He understood exactly what I wanted to do, and had great ideas on how it could be done.  My house is basically a long rectangle, but because of how the windows are spaced, I knew it wouldn't be easy to put a porch with a roof on the house.  I was so impressed with his enthusiasm for the project that I mentioned I had other work that I wanted to get done.  I showed him my kitchen, he understood immediately what my "vision" was and mentioned where the island would fit in before I even had a chance to, which was wonderful because again he could see what I was looking for. So I requested that he give me a separate quote for doing the kitchen, entry door, hardwood floors, and new interior doors.  I had a reasonable quote for the hardwood floors, Vince told me he had a person he worked with that would do the floor for the same price so I left that in his capable hands as well.  I decided to move forward with all the work.  Vince said he would be there in 2 weeks and that the interior work would take 2 weeks, he helped me pick cabinets, and saved me from some very bad decisions on tile.   Vince and his brother Arton showed up on Monday, on time ready to work.  Then the miracle happened. Over the next two weeks my house was transformed.  I don't think I have ever seen people work harder than the men from Shala construction worked.  In that two week period they did the following:  Gutted my kitchen completely, rebuilt my kitchen including new walls, floor, cabinets, backsplash, granite countertops, recessed lighting, island lighting, paint.  I asked them to add a new kitchen window to the contract while this was going on, they did. While things like cabinets and appliances were getting delivered they replaced all my interior doors, put recesses lighting in my living room, replaced all the baseboards in the living room, dining room and hall, I asked them to add crown molding to the contract, along with painting the LR DR and hall, they did and got it completed, I asked to get all my outlets replaced with new ones and for power to be added to my bookcase, recessed lighting in my living room, they got that done too.  The front porch and new entry door came next.  Vince told me that it would take them a week.  He told me when they would be there (the porch work was planned to be done about 8 weeks after the interior work), and again.... He and his brother showed up when they said they would and completed the work when they said they would and built me a beautiful front porch. Vince and Arton, and their cousin Kol (Kol did all the painting and did an amazing job) were so nice and so easy to work with.  I can't say enough about my experience with this company.  I have friends who have nightmare stories about months without a kitchen or bathroom because of the company they hired. I would recommend Shala Construction to anyone, and actually have.  I have asked for quotes on getting my roof fixed and siding for the house, and will use Vince and Shala construction for all my future work.

Vince and his team were amazing to deal with. From the start we knew that Vince was to person to work with. We knew roughly what we envisioned, however we needed his professional advice. He had a great portfolio and lots of experience to contribute. He was great to talk to about our ideas and took our countless questions. He finished on time and personally labored each day. He was patient with us and we can't wait to call him again.

On September 2, I emailed Shala Construction via their website, along with three other deck construction companies, a request for an estimate on constructing a deck in my back yard.  After being contacted within a couple of days by the other three contractors but not from Shala Construction, I sent a second email to them, again via their website...again no response...not even the courtesy of advising me they were not interested in my business.  Enough said. 

This contractor is very professional and easy to work with, even when I changed my mind about some of the details.  They consulted with me before, during, and after completion of the work to assure that I was satisfied.  Before starting the project, they closed the door between the kitchen and dining room and hung plastic over the door to assure that no dust entered the house.  Originally, I had hoped to restore the plaster walls in my 100-year-old house; however, the walls proved to be beyond repair, so we had to install drywall.  Shala hired subs to do the drywall, but the subs did a less-than-perfect job and left the plastic sheeting open so that dust was all over the dining room.  Vince apologized, corrected the work, and reinstalled the plastic sheeting, thereby eliminating the dust problem.
I had also requested that they repair the back door, which was sticking badly and could barely be opened and closed.  The problem had been worsening and no one was able to determine why the problem existed.  Vince checked the supports under the back porch and determined that the support posts were deteriorating and sinking into the ground.  He replaced one of the posts and placed it on a concrete footing.  The back door now opens and closes with ease -- for the first time in over 25 years!
I am very happy with my new kitchen!
A couple of years ago, they also did a great job installing a new roof, gutters, and siding on my garage. It looks great and elicited many favorable comments from the neighbors.

Vince provided outstanding customer service. He was friendly and very helpful. He was prompt and responsive. We couldn't ask for more! We will definitely call him again for future work.

We hired Shala Construction (Vince and Tony) to build a backyard deck that included a partial wrap around an above ground pool.
Vince was the first of the numerous contractors we contacted (several from Angie?s List) to respond to our inquiry (within 24 hours). We arranged a face-to-face meeting with him to discuss the project we envisioned. He arrived on time, was courteous and professional. Vince is extremely knowledgeable about materials and options and he didn?t hesitate to suggest ways in which we could improve upon our design. We liked the suggestions he made, especially those that streamlined the project a bit and his willingness to wait on some of the esthetic decisions until the project was underway.
Eventually we received responses from other contractors (only after repeated prompts). But none of them demonstrated professionalism and follow through the way that Vince did.
For us, making the decision to hire Shala was not just an easy one, but one that we were totally enthusiastic about.
Our project began and ended on schedule, with both Vince and Tony on site. Throughout, communication with Vince was awesome. He responds quickly and clearly. Texting when needed was a great option. A+ on all the practical considerations too. They cleaned the work area every day and hauled away all the leftovers.
It was clear that both Vince and Tony were really pleased with the project at completion. Their special touches and attention to detail demonstrated the pride they take in their work. We loved that.
As owners of an older home, we?ve engaged the services of many different contractors. Happily, this turned out to be one of those rare experiences where the completed product exceeds all expectations.
Would we hire Shala again? Definitely! No question about it.

I like the quality. They're a little bit expensive but you got really good quality.

Vince is the main contact for the company and he did most all of the work.  He is extremely personable and discusses all the options in great detail.  He explains things very clearly so that you know exactly what will be done and therefore can make an informed decision. 

Vince is a true professional and works to make you completely satisfied with the outcome.  He is always accessible and agreeable to your requests.  The thing you notice most is the quality of the workmanship and how he works  

We are extremely pleased with the completed product and have even had other workmen remark on what a great job he did.

We feel you cannot go wrong hiring Vince to do your work.

Superb! While Shala was not the cheapest bid, the slightly higher cost was more than worth it. The construction is solid and the appearance outstanding. It is an incredibly reliable company and extremely honest. This was the exact opposite experience from the nightmare contractor stories - it was a dream experience. I'm writing this review from my fabulous new deck and could not be happier. We could not recommend Shala more.

Vince and Tony and two outstanding guys.  they went above and beyond to make me happy. very good service, very friendly guys.  they give you what you ask for and more.  I have no complaints what so ever from these two guys' guess the only complaint I have was that weather, it rained for a week...lol. but other then that . what can I say ..  would I recommend them?, with out a shadow of doubt.
