Mr Electric of the Western Suburbs

They combined two electrical boxes into one and had to move an outlet to slow for a longer panel. The guy did the work while my disabled husband was home (he was unable to climb stairs and inspect the completed work). I came home after the guy left and had to move the old electrical panel that was sitting in front of my garage door. All the rest of the garbage was sitting in my garage. I was not happy, he told my husband he could not fit the trash in his car. When I looked at the completed job I saw he had retired the outlet and had a cord across the front of the panel box so it couldn’t be opened unless I unplugged the cord. What?!! And he also left his own personal trash in the basement. I was very upset and called the rep that had originally come to the house and he sent the same guy out the next day to fix it. I asked him to please take the old panel box and other trash he left and he said he didn’t have room in his car to take it. I was not happy with this company and would not recommend.

Originally, he was supposed to come out on Tuesday. He cancelled it and rescheduled it today but he never showed and did not even call.

I called on 2/12 and setup an appointment for an estimate 13 between 11-12, however no one showed up.

These are absolutely the worst people to deal with.  They advertise 27/7 service, accepted a Christmas Eve, "on call" assignment and then refused to return dispatch's calls.  at 5:12 pm, they acknowledged dispatch's call for service.  At 6:30 pm, they said they were finishing up a job and would call back, At 9:35 pm, they still will not answer their dispatch office or return a call.  If you do not want to work on a holiday, do not advertise that you will.  If nothing else, have the common courtesy to call and say you are not going to make it.  Do not keep responding "OK".  We would have paid half as much as we ended up paying if Allen would have just refused the job right away.  This is a Mr Electric franchise.  I have every intention of filing a complaint with the better business bureau. The dispatch service appears to be completely disgusted with this franchise, as he is the only on call technician for the area.  Allen M, Mr Electric, Sugar Grove, stay as far away as you possibly can.  Most unprofessional contractor I have ever dealt with.

Not going to give all the detail......they easily could have said to switch out all the outlets,but that would have been dishonest and cost us hundreds of dollars instead,with honesty we were told only one GFI needed installation and the others were reset and things are back up and running and I have exterior outlets again. Al had to go into the attic to install the 3 ceiling fans and build supports for each fan.  He also rewired our basement from lots of individual lights with separate on/off pull cords to a double switch system so we can turn on half the lights with one switch and the back half with the other switch.  Also rewired our front door and garage lights so they could be operated from two locations (front door and garage).  Was very careful to clean up everything...including actually vacuuming so there were NO traces of anything left on the floor.  He show up on time and stayed until everything was perfect...and kept his cost at exactly what he quoted.
I would certainly use him again for any electrical work.  Also, Angies List customers get a guarantee that is twice as long as normal!

They're excellent. Their prices were reasonable. Their labor was good. They were neat and clean. They were just very good. Everything was done exactly how I asked them to be done and everything has worked perfect.

Called Mr Electric scheduling number and was told Al Mahan would call me back. After an hour called again and was told that dispatch contacted Al and he responded "OK". He was finishing a job and would call quickly. At this point I still had time to locate another electrician without paying an emergency rate. Called 2 hours later and dispatch told me that he responded OK twice but will not answer or return their calls. I ended up having to pay a 2 hr minimum plus service call, because this guy wouldn't just say he didn't feel like dealing with it. When I finally reached him on the third day he told me he was at church. He advertises 24/7 service. That is of course unless he doesn't feel like doing any work that day. When I asked him him why he continued to respond to dispatch, allowing us to believe he was going to come and address the problem instead of just telling them he didn't feel like working, his response was, "I suppose I could have done that". Anthr owner said "not 1st time"

Everyone was wonderful to work with at Mr Electric. The arrived on time to provide a detailed quote and explained the various options clearly. Everyone was very knowledgeable and thoughtful about explaining the pros and cons of each option. It was easy to schedule an installation time. They were prompt, courteous, and left the rooms they worked in spotless. We received one other quote that was similar in price, but chose Mr Electric due their experience level and easy to work with. They were not cheap, but we wanted quality workmanship without any shortcuts and that's what I believe we received! The Angie's List member discount didn't hurt either.

He came prepared to do the job and talked to us about the lighting options.  Once decided he went and bought the lighting fixture, returned and efficiently installed them.  Great job.

Had an electrical trip on circuit breaker.  Upon trying to locate and fix the problem myself, I was unsuccessful.  Al, from Mr. Electric showed up on time and he was very professional and friendly as he always is ( I have used him in the past).  He located the problem within 30 minutes and had it fixed approximately 30 minutes after that.  It was an exterior outlet that I had forgot to check.  It was fried, maybe due to a power surge or something of that nature.  I would recommend Mr. Electric to anyone needing work done and plan on using them again in the future.

I had a power outage in several rooms, including the kitchen about 10pm. Searching Angies List for nearest electrician I chose this company as they claimed technicians in my city and had the most member ratings of companies close to me. An answering service took my call and information stating the duty tech would call me shortly. After 45 minutes and no call, I called again and was advised by the answering service that they were trying to contact a tech, but none of the techs were returning their calls. The service said they were in process of contacting the company service manager. I asked them to call me if they could not contact anyone and they agreed. I never received any calls from anyone. Finally, after 2 hours I called to cancel the service request. It seems no one wants to work after hours at this company and their answering service could not even return my call to so inform me. Now I will have to wait for the morning to contact someone else and then replace all my refrigerator contents.

Received a return call within hours to schedule a time for the estimate.  I called a few days later and placed the order for the work. Lucas came right out, was very professional, took great care to wear shoe covers and treated the job like it was in his own home. Cleaning up all debris and excess materials.  Office personnel very professional and very prompt.  If you need any type of electrical work around the home, give the fine people a call.

Mr. Electric arrived right on time and was very professional and friendly when performing the estimate.  He even taped out the measurements where he suggested we hang the new pendants.  He assessed that new holes would need to be cut into the ceiling and two new electrical boxes would need to be installed.  He would also have to move the existing box just a bit to ensure things were evenly spaced over the island.  When all was said and done, it was OVER 3x the price of the other estimates I received!  It was ridiculously expensive!  I'm not sure why it was marked up so much.  Perhaps they were too busy and really didn't want the business?  I received 4 bids in total - the other 3 were approx. $250-$300.  Mr. Electric's was $817!

I had an idea of how I wanted the conduit run but they improved upon it, even though it was more work for them. They also suggested another location for the outlet to better meet my needs. They finished in a timely manner and cleaned up after the work was complete. I received an e-mail receipt minutes later. Great job!
