"In our service area there was severe basement flooding issues on 04/18/2013 due to storms. That afternoon and the next day we were inundated with service calls to check and repair the furnaces, hot water heaters, and other appliances that were in some cases possibly damaged by flood waters. Mr Zhu was one of the customers that called us on the 19th. He was told at that time that we were booked until the next day, Saturday the 20th. We did the service calls in the order in witch they came in. When our service tech arrived at Mr.Zhu's home he cleared the water out of the gas lines, he also checked the safety's on the water heater and the furnace. He found that the water heater needed a part as well as the furnace witch needed a circuit board. Neither of these parts were in stock, and we would have to order them on Monday. As a company we stock many parts, but we do not stock every part for every furnace, boiler, hot water heater, ect. that ever has been made by every manufacturer that makes these appliances. There are literally tens of thousands of parts! Even the local supply house do not carry all the parts! The service tech made sure that the units were safe, but he could not get them to run without the parts. The customer was advised to call us if he wanted us to order the parts on Monday when the supply houses were open. As far as the amount of the charges is concerned, we did go to Mr Zhu's house on a Saturday, we did not charge him an overtime rate. We charged him our regular time rate. Overtime would have cost hime $90.00 more than he was charged. To use the $50.00 off coupon, Mr. Zhu was supposed to declare that he was using the coupon when he ordered the service call, and the call would have been set up at a later date when we do our specials. Mr Zhu was only charged for the service and diagnostics that we performed. We would have finished the job if he would have confirmed that he wanted us to. During those days after the flood, our technicians worked long and difficult hours, and for much of their time they were rightfully being paid overtime rates. But we did not charge Mr Zhu overtime. We as a company absorbed the rate difference. Thank you Tony G. Skokie Valley Air Control."
