I took my 5month old, 4lb Maltipoo to Petco for a grooming since I have had him for a month and he was in desperate need of a trimming. When I first took him, all the groomers had left early for the night when there is supposed to be someone there from 6-8pm, so I went back home and took him the following day. I took him in and the woman who was working was very standoffish and quiet. She asked how much I wanted off him and I said about half the length and to trim around him face because his bangs were so long he had trouble seeing. She said that it would take 2 hours and she'd give me a call. I was stunned that it would take that long for a little dog, seeing as he was the only dog there when I brought him in. She called about 2 hours later to let me know he was ready. When I got there and she brought him out she BUTCHERED his face. She cut his face SO short and there was no reason to as I brush him every day so he was not matted or anything. The rest of his body looked fine (despite the fact the trim was uneven from side to side. One side was longer than the other...) but his face definitely needs to grow out. And ever since I brought him home, he's been so itchy, so I'm taking him to the vet today and have her look at him to see whats going on. And even when I came in to pick up my pup, she was in the grooming room on her cellphone (not working) and pointed towards the floor,so I looked in and she was pointing at a white German Shepard and I gave a her a confused look and she said "Oh, he's not yours? Sorry all the dogs just run together after awhile" She couldn't even remember which dog was mine, when he was the only one that was there when I first brought him in. She also didn't ask his breed and just assumed he was a Shih Tzu (which I didn't find out until AFTER she had already groomed him) which could explain why she trimmed him so funny. She was definitely unprofessional and was not worth the $45 I spent to have him half-assed groomed.
I will definitely not be going back to Petco and I will be finding another place after I let his face fur grow out so he doesn't look ridiculous. At least now I know he can see since he has no fur on his face...

This particular Petco just opened grooming so  I gave this one a chance. They gave me a discount since it was his first time there. They were very friendly and showed me around a little. They looked him over and we went over exactly what I wanted and did not want done.  It always takes 4 to 5 hours to groom him that's not a problem. When I picked him up he looked great. I did have to send him back in because they didn't do his feet but no big deal I thought. He is usually a very happy dog but he wouldn't even look at me. When we got home he went straight to dad and stayed away from me all evening. He has a particular spot he likes scratched and when my husband scratched him there he YIPED. We looked and he had a very large (at least 2 inches) gaping cut on his back right above the tail. It had been sprinkled with white powder or something but it was oozing. We found 3 other smaller cuts.  I will never give another Petco a chance with him. No wonder he was mad at me. I left him there and they hurt him.
