This was the second time I used them. The first time I used them I had them repair a portion of the roof. They did so well on the first job that I decided to have them do the whole roof. And they did well on that job too. They did it all within a day and two hours. They did a wonderful job and those guys really did work. They provided a pretty good price for the quality of work they provided. He obviously knew what he was doing for the job.

All jobs were completed with a large crew which for us meant in a timely manner. Once started, the job was completed with no interruptions. The weather was extremely hot but the crew worked long hours and seemed like a happy bunch. The house was a fixer-upper and the roof and facia and gutters gave it an excellent "street appeal". The workmanship was very good. Chris chose the roof color which I appreciated because I had no idea what color would make an all white house look good. The blue-gray was just right. After I saw the work on one house, I had Chris do the windows on a second house and will have him do the siding and roof on the second house in the spring. All-Star Installations gives great value in price, materials, and workmanship. And Chris was a pleasure to work with.

My initial contact was with Chris Rounds who was very friendly and helpful in helping me choose my new roof. He is very responsive and easy to reach by phone. The crew came out on the day promised and started the roof removing process. The entire project took 2 days to complete. Each day, they picked up all shingles and roofing nails around the property and from what the crew told me, that was a LOT of nails. The roof is absolutely gorgeous!
A few days after install, we had a huge winds in our area and unfortunately a few shingles flew off. I called Chris and he had people out the next day to fix the problem. He explained that because of the cold weather and the newness of the roof, the shingles hadn't had time to seal together properly when the winds came in. I totally understand the unusual circumstance and in no way think they did sub-par work. The service was prompt and professional.
I would totally use All Star again if the need were to present itself. Great company. Great people.

Had to call them back because flood lights they removed were not reinstalled, roofing nails were exposed, gutter guards were not reinstalled, Had metal and nails all around the site which took me several hours to pickup. Left ruts in my asphalt driveway from the dumpster because they did not put down plywood which was left for me to repair.. Have spots where singles are uneven making it look unprofessional.

"I am very sorry to see this delayed review, we did everything we were hired to do in a professional manor. The ruts in the driveway were caused by the dumpster company in and they were supposed to put wood down when they dropped the box off, and advanced disposal is insured and is the one responsible for the damaged driveway. As for the lights I had to come back out to put the lights up because there was no outside power and nobody lives there during the week so I could not test it before they were installed, and we were able to properly take care of that when the member met us out there. Very rarely we have problems but sometimes do ac-cure, and when they do they are handled in a timely and professional manor"

Awesome job. Highly recommend and will use them in the future. Purchased the roof inspection off Angie's list. They came and were on the roof in no time. We were told our nails hadn't been caulked, and he did a quick caulk (which may explain some water leakage we had). Did some minor repairs and was extremely friendly. All said and told in less than 15 minutes. We will need some new shingles soon, and I will definitely give them a call.

I had a large, aging, leaking cedar shake roof with a raised flat roof area in the center. Loved the look of the shakes but it just had to go. The pitch was wrong for shakes and I had leaking going on in several areas. I needed the entire roof replaced.
I called multiple roofers to look at the situation and give me an estimate. Several came out, took one look at the job, said they'd get back to me with an estimate and I never heard from them again. A couple listened to my description of the job, told me they'd call me back and never did. Others came out and gave me a generic description of what they would do and how much they wanted.
Chris Rounds from All-Star Installations came out, looked it over, told me exactly what he would do to give me a watertight roof, plus adding in the need for better venting - of which I had zero in the attic, removing an old TV antenna previous roofers never even offered to take down, repairing the furnace flue on the top of the roof and replacing a cracked globe on a solar tube light I had for one of the bathrooms. He gave me a very detailed list of what he would do and a very fair estimate for the job per replacing both sections of roofing.
Needless to say, he got the job.
His crew showed up on time and I had to feel bad for them because the job was done in the middle of a brutal heat wave and the shake roof was heavily infested with hornets. Tearing off that old shake roof was a brutal job but they kept at it and got the job done.
And was a fabulous job they did with the roof they put on! I thought after shakes I could never appreciate a standard roof on this house but the job All-Star Installations did was absolutely AWESOME. My reaction when I saw the new roof was, geez, why didn't I do this years ago??? It looks great!
I cannot say enough in praise of All-Star Installations. They did the job on time, on budget and cleaned up absolutely everything at the finish of the job. I am more than pleased with my new roof and I know you will feel the same if you hire them to do yours.

I prepared a scope of work document for our 120 year old house and spent several months interviewing contractors, touring them through the project and conducting pricing and material/method reviews of their bids.
Chris from Allstar was literally the only one out of seven that got with the program in the first round.
Chris included all items on the scope doc in his bid. After much deliberation some of the items changed as I decided to approach them differently. I made detailed notes on five of the bids and asked for pricing revisions. Chris was again the only contractor who took this request on quickly and revised his bid accordingly within a few days. He is also easy to talk to - gives you the straight assessment of what should be done when unseen conditions present a challenge and can address whether or not that is aligned with the original plan. All of this is so valuable to me as a homeowner and as a person who is about to drop a large sum of money on a project.
When I am hiring someone for any scope of work I look for certain qualities above and beyond skill.
For a contractor who is going to work on my home for a period of time, it has to be someone I can talk to, negotiate with, and trust.
I want someone who will work on the house as if it is their own and discuss options when challenges arise.
Allstar is great - they solved complicated issues in many different areas using creative thinking and skills in a wide range of materials.
They also enjoy the work to the extent that the jobsite is pleasant - another crucial factor if you are going to be living in it for a month!

The quality was excellent. The response was good. Once hired, they came and did the job in a day. The roof is doing well. Cleanup was good, not perfect. It was certainly an acceptable job for me and I would recommed them to other people.

Weather was far from perfect for this type of work. This company worked my project into their schedule and finished on time and on budget. Problems did arise as they will always do, however, this company handled them quickly and professionally. I could not ask for more.....

Chris at All Star provided a very simple proposal, and followed up by phone to review it and discuss options. We chose All Star because their proposal was an excellent value. Most roofers provide comparable materials, so for us it boiled down to some of the options provided. All Star provided Owens Corning Duration shingles, replaced several existing 'turtle' vents with a single ridge vent, and installed a gutter guard system on the main house. Chris recommended a patch & re-coat of the existing flat garage roof, using fibered Alumicoat (silvercoat), and included a 5-year warranty on that work. This saved us $4k versus other proposals we received recommending a complete tear-off and replacement. Best of all, the crew arrived early on a Wednesday morning, and were finished with the main house by the end of the same day. Clean up was also very good - we haven't found any old nails since the job was finished. We'd definitely use All Star again!

"We are a fully insured, professional building maintenance company with over twenty years of experience in the Roofing industry. We due not have are Illinois roofing license as it is only needed to pull permits, and the county we are located in you do not need to pull a permit to reroof your house.We have paid for the license and will be completing it soon so we can pull permits in other areas. I was completely honest with the member's daughter, and told her we would be able to save her money on her roofing project, she would have to pull the permit herself as the home owner can. The job was 1 1/2 hours away from us and due to travel expense we did all of our business via email, and I told her ( the member's daughter ) that I would pick up the check when we started the job. We have never and will never take money with out completing the job we are hired for.Thank you and I 'am sorry for the member's frustration-misunderstanding as you can see from all of our other reports that it deffinately is a misunderstanding"

Chris from All Star was very easy to work with. The communication factor was fantastic. Once the job was started, the crew that did the work was very professional, even had me come up on the roof when the old one was off to inspect the plywood (which was OK). You could tell that these guy's took pride in their work. The only issue that we had was the dumpster was there 2 extra days after they were done, but that was a minor inconvenience. They did a good job of cleaning up, did find a couple of extra nails, but it would be impossible to get them all. These guys lived up to their name - All Star(s)!

Overall, everything went well except for some weather isses (Mother Nature likes to threaten roofers with rain) and very hot temps also. The job took an extra three or four days over the estimate, but they persivered and got the job done. The crew for my job was a good bunch of guys and I enjoyed and liked their work ethic on the job site.

In december of 2010 my furnace went out and left my wife, daughter, and myself in the cold! i called several places to get a quote and to see how fast they could get here. we decided to go with ALLSTAR INSTALLATIONS. Chris from allstar was very prompt and professional. he came out to look at our furnace the same night. He determined that my furnace needed to be replaced, and started the work the next day. well, we went through the whole winter without one problem! very impressive! we just had ALLSTAR back last weekend to install our AC unit for the house. we used it this weekend, and again, no problems :) we recommend ALLSTAR INSTALLIONS, and will continue to use them for our home projects. thanks chris!

This review is just to state we had a long cold winter and a lot of snow and no leaking! There was ice damming in the area of poor design by the builder, but Chris' recomendations of putting a rubber mebrane in along the valleys of the roof and up under our cedar siding worked great! No more leaks. Also, where we had the ice damming issue Chris had pitched it slightly and it drains very well when we have hard downpours now. With regards to the ridge vents installed it seems there is somewhat less ice damming in areas and it is definalty cooler in our house on hot summer/fall days. As far as the raccoons go I have heard them on the roof already this year and it appears they are not trying to enter the attic. You should call Allstar if you are looking for any roofing needs! Also, I know he they do HVAC work and other work and we will be calling Allstar for those needs in the future as well due to our dealing with them on this roofing job and thier honesty, hardwork and fair prices.
