This work was performed 2 years ago . The workers arrived promptly ( for 3 days). They cleaned up before they left each day. The paint job still looks good. In hindsight they were a little pricey, but did a good job.

We worked with Kevin from Fortune Restoration. After i called, he quickly made an appointment and met me at our property in Lakeview. He gave an insightful inspection of the deterioration of the mortar and bricks and gave us a proposal that worked within our tight budget. We got on their schedule quickly. The crew and foreman Danny were highly skilled and very friendly. They were clean and got the work done quickly! When we wanted to add some additional areas for them to work on, both Kevin and Danny worked with us and gave us a great deal. You cannot go wrong with Fortune Restoration. They are skilled, easy to work with, and affordable! Five stars!

We have used them for years. They are always willing to fix any issues or do touch ups, they also are willing to do little things for free when they are out doing other things for us. They are always willing to go the extra mile for us.

Tom Fortune and his team were absolutely exceptional, from beginning to end. From the first phone call, they were completely responsive and timely. They started the project on time and ended the project quickly. The team was clean, professional, and communicated very effectively. They asked great questions and the quality of workmanship was first class. We had quite a bit of detail on our house with, for example, lots of , and they did a terrific job.

It went very well. A bit confusing with a few people calling about the same issue, but I simply think it's the crazy busy season...at least they called! The work was exceptional. I'm a bit picky at times, particularly when it comes to the house. I don't have a lot of tolerance for sloppy work if I'm paying a good buck to have that work done. Fortune didn't let me down, will for sure contact them again. Thanks Peter (and company)!

When it comes to painting, it's the details that matter; thorough scraping, sanding, and surface preparation; careful replacement of rotten wood; and painstaking application of the paint. And from beginning to end, Fortune Restoration gave careful attention to all the details. Tom came out very quickly when he asked him to give a bid and gave us several different options. The color coordinator he worked with was phenomenal, a true genius in sizing up a building in short order and getting colors that would match superbly with the brickwork. And the crew--from the painters to the carpenter--were a delight to work with. They came on time, did their work, and cleaned up thoroughly. (Cleanup seems like such a minor point, but it speaks to their professionalism. We've had some bad tradespeople in the past who wait to finish their cleanup until after the job is over, when it is a lot harder to do so.) Part of their work required replacing rotted wood, some of which was of an ornamental nature and thus couldn't be bought off the rack. The carpenter did such a good job that you cannot tell the difference between the original wood and the new wood. Fortune might be slightly pricier than some of its competition. However, it was apparent from the bids that we received from their competition that we would not get the same attention to detail and would probably have to paint all over again sooner rather than later. When you consider the quality of Fortune's work, I am sure that we got the better deal in the long run.

I have hired Fortune Restoration twice now in the 25+ years I have owned my home. I used other painters before them but none of the others did the necessary prep work to get all the old and peeling painted removed.. I hired Fortune the first time 9 years ago and I couldn't believe the scraping, sanding down to bare wood they did which was needed to get the surfaces into condition to paint. All that detail trim wood which is common with Victoria homes (which seems to be one of Fortune's specialty. Their work has held for 9 years and it still looks great. I am now just refreshing my window trim as it needed a refresh. Why do I LOVE this painting company?. The crews are pro's. I like the idea of crew chief who coordinates things on the site. They come on time, are efficient in their work, work safely, clean up and are careful with your plantings around your home. There is no goofing around or loud music playing. Another great benefit of Fortune Restoration is their Guarantee. If the work fails for any reason within 3, 4, or 5 years of finished date they will repair it free. My wooden steps were showing signs of wear from a really bad winter of snow and ice a couple years back, They came out and fixed it no charge. Tell me who offers that?!...no one else I have found. I have referred them to three of my neighbors and decided its time to post to Angie's list. If you want your house to look beautiful for a long time....I would give them call. BTW their office staff does a good job of proactively calling you to let you know how the painters schedule are running. With all the rain dates will slide but Jenny will call and tell you where things are going. So from the first sales call to the last pick up of drop cloths...its was a very good experience.

This was a large project with multiple parts, and overall it went extremely well. I've hired Fortune several times over the years, and they've always been extremely dependable. Tom showed up for the estimate on time as usual, and submitted a quote the same day. Other painters were somewhat cheaper, but Tom and I then had a discussion of everything throughout the house I wanted done, and we were able to wrap it all into one project with a price and proposed schedule that we were both satisfied with. The painters arrived at the promised time. The foreman, Marco, and I discussed his schedule for the work so that we were always prepared for what to expect. Marco was always very responsive to my questions and concerns, and his supervisor Dan and even Tom dropped by a couple of times to check on the project to make sure all was going well. The painters and masons were well equipped and very professional. On a project this size problems will always arise, but Fortune always addressed them flexibly and transparently. In the end, I am very satisfied with the careful prep work that went in, the attention to the appearance of the final results, and their concern that I was satisfied. The house looks great.

it went great.. my wife and I could not be happier with the result.... the house looks fantastic... Peter Fortune , owner and contractor, was onsite several times supervising the work.. he was responsive, always punctual and very professional.... Mind you this was a very tough April weather-wise but the guys he hired battled the elements and put up quality work... The carpentry was done flawlessly and they corrected several issues that existed because of previous owners... the paint prep was thorough and they put several coats... all the products chosen were Benjamin Moore ... masonry looks great too.. the foundation is sealed and the house is ready for the summer season...

Fortune was a pleasure to work with. I had them back over a year later to do some touch-up work caused by weather damage and not any fault of their own, and they informed me that the the work was under warranty. Not only did they do the work I requested, but they proactively expanded the scope far beyond what I had asked them to do, all of it covered. The crew was courteous, professional, and willing to accommodate in any way. I would use them again in a second!

Pete was incredibly communicative and generally did a good job. There were some areas of this complicated project that he missed.

Fortune Restoration is a familiar company in our neighborhood of Rogers Park. It seems like they’ve painted just about all the homes we know; four on our block alone. We first used them for carpentry about four years ago. They were the cheapest of three bids and they did a good job of replacing and painting rotten wood on our eaves. When it was time to tackle the whole house, we got four bids, and Fortune was both the least expensive and the only one to that could do all of the work, including tuck-pointing and replacing our porch deck and stairs. Most importantly, we felt that Fortune could be entrusted with the responsibility of updating and preserving the colors on our 140-year-old home. Pete Fortune was a constant presence on the job, especially related to selecting colors for the new paint. We had decided we wanted new colors, but didn't really know which ones. Pete explained our options and got some paint up on the house for us to starting considering. It was a process that we would repeat with him over and over, as we made our choices for the siding and trim, and then again with the four accent colors. We didn't keep track, but it was certainly over ten different visits to get the color scheme we wanted. It was a fun, if sometimes frustrating, process, and we ended up with a combination that suited us and our home. Pete's team of painters and craftsmen are impressive. Over the course of the month they worked on our home, we came to appreciate their commitment to detail, their joy in working, and their desire to make our home look lovely. We're thankful for Alejandro, the lead painter, and everybody on his crew (that's them in the picture). A few things that weren't perfect--We had an early delay that moved us a month off our start date. One masonry guy was better than than the other. Our plants near the house were decimated, which we expected. But looking back, those little things didn't mean much compared to the overall quality of the work, their attention to detail right to the end, and how nice and relatively easy it was working with Pete and Alejandro and the rest. We're happy to recommend them to others.

Excellent. They did a masterful job on my 125 year old Victorian. They are a one stop operation and can do it all for you. They came when scheduled, cleaned up job site thoroughly each day after work. Their pricing was reasonable. They guarantee work for three years....Very happy... would recommend highly....

They are all very professionals, from the sales people to the workers. They are not the cheapest but the quality of the work won't disappoint you. They are very punctual, no delay to start the job and get it done. I would highly recommend this company. They are honest and do good work.

Everyone I dealt with was polite and professional. Work was completed efficiently and looks terrific.

I worried, because I was leaving on a trip in three days! Two men worked from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. the first day and a third man arrived with them the second day. Everything was finished and beautifully cleaned up by noon that second day! They even did a little more than I asked for, and couldn’t have been nicer or more pleasant to be around. I couldn’t recommend Fortune Restoration more highly. (This is the second time I’ve used them, and I keep their number at the top of my list!)

We had an excellent experience with Fortune Restoration. Bernie was a very responsive sales representative and gave special care and attenion to our project. He was very easy to work with and always checking his texts and e-mail to make sure the work was progressing as intended. The workers showed up early and worked a full days; the job took 3 days and I'd say there were 4-5 workers there at all times. Our side bay window had cracking paint and was a mess; it was hard to find anyone that would even take this work and I was so happy to find Fortune's website. Bernie recommended choosing an accent color to make it pop - we chose a cream color and a muted green tone to coordinate with the pantina on our old copper gutters - it looks wonderful. They spent a day scraping and cleaning and the next day the did the painting. Our 100+ year old oak front doors got a new lease on life with a thorough cleaning and sanding, plus a coat of stain and varnsh. The brick tuckpointing and cleaning was done precisely. Every day they were diligent about cleaning up after themselves and leaving everything in order. Our house looks great and the price was fair and reasonable. I would definitely recommend Fortune Restoration for your project, and I will certainly be calling them again for my painting/masonry needs. EXCELLENT!! The broken storm window at the house of my 92y/o mother was taken care of the next day after we called Bob Fortune, the president of the firm. The prompt response, great work, great communication and professional manner in which all of the team members exhibit is outstanding! The painting of all windows and old porch was very well done. I highly recommend this firm! You will be glad that you did! The tuck pointing work completed by the crew on an old house was beautiful! Again, great communication, politeness, excellent workmanship and dependability make this company a great one with a great boss, Bob Fortune. He truly cares about his customers as well as his staff. He takes good care of his crew, who in turn, take good care of their customers.

Tom Fortune and his team did a fantastic job. It was an expensive job, we we bid it out and they were very competitive. They did similar work to one of our neighbors which we admired, so we hired them. 1870s Victorian that needed extensive brick repair. Since it required access to a neighbor's property, we were concerned about keeping the job site cleaned up on a daily basis and them being courteous to the neighbors. They met or exceeded all of our expectations. The crew was on time, attentive to all of our concerns and did a great, high-quality job. When they encountered latent defects to the walls during their work (which is to be expected in such an old house) they quickly brought it and all the options to my attention and did not nickel and dime on those improvements. Overall, they came in on-time, on-budget, and did great work. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone needing this sort of work done.
