Swisher Exteriors Inc

About us

Chris Swisher went to work for Herzing Roofing in May of 1985 after a couple of years of friendship and multiple job offers by Horst Herzing to come work for him as a salesman. After only six months Horst decided he wanted to retire. So Chris, along with another salesman became partners and bought the company. After eight years, Chris’ desire for superior customer service and quality led him to begin his own company that reflected his core values. On June 1st 1993 Chris started Swisher Exteriors. The company is now celebrating its 17th anniversary and still going strong, with a focus on providing the best quality workmanship, materials and service to its customers. All of the estimating and scheduling is still done by Chris. Due to his dedication to quality, Swisher Exteriors has never taken a deposit in 17 years. All work is billed upon completion. Some people in the business think that’s crazy, but Chris is extremely confident in the workmanship of his crews that he knows the customer will be satisfied with the work.

- 20+ year old home suffered from leaky windows and rotted wood exterior molding and sills
- We did not want to engage in high cost window replacement at this time
- After talking with many potential providers of wood repair, window replacement, we were pleased to meet Chris and to hear of his solution to our problem
- We hope the window capping allows us to kick the can of  window replacement down the road many years!

We called several good companies for estimates about some loose shingles and to find out if we needed a new roof.  We had used Swisher before, to replace gutters, add larger downspouts, and replace shutters, so we already valued the work the company did.  When Mr. Swisher came to check the roof, he repaired the shingles quickly, without being asked to do it (no charge), and said that the roof was in good condition and did not need to be replaced in the near future.  He told us that the number of vents was no longer in compliance with current codes, and would need to be added when the roof was replaced.  We asked for an estimate , checked with the village to be sure that we would need the additional vents (we would), and decided to do the vents now, to improve air circulation and prevent birds (or worse) form entering the existing vents.  The work was scheduled in a timely manner, clean-up was excellent, and we are very pleased with the work.
Swisher Exteriors has done work for many of our friends, which is how we first learned of the company, and we now recommend it to friends and family.

They did a siding for us, put on a roof, did windows, and gutters.  They are good.  He and his guy were really good.  They cleaned up after the work.

I was very happy with the roof that they put on.  I was very happy with the workers too.  They came when they said they would come.  They cleaned up really well after themselves.  The workers worked very hard and they did a good job.  It was a positive experience there.  I think their price was reasonable.  I will use their services again in the future.

Swisher was a second tier sub to a roofer I contracted with to replace the roof, gutters and siding. Swisher showed up for one day which was just long enough to remove all existing siding, they did not return for almost two weeks and left a pile of garbage (with nails) in the driveway and backyard. After complaining, the owner Chris showed up and removed the garbage while stating they usually do not leave a job before it's complete but they had to in this case. I did not appreciate my house looking the way it did knowing it was only a two to three day job. Why not just finish the next day? Also, his field foreman took $250 cash to install a plywood backer which he said was the correct way to do the job even though the owner said it was not, it's a long story but the whole experience was shaddy and frustrating. If it was not for the roofing company my experience with Swisher would have been even worse. I highly recommend to NOT use Swisher for anything. They are dishonest and you have to argue and fight to get a finished product that you are just somewhat satisfied with. In the end, Chris deducted the $250 from the final bill and the roofer finished what Swisher would not.
Response from Swisher Exteriors Inc

"We did not have a contract with this person. We where hired by the general contractor and he was well aware of the delays that would be involved. the homeowner bribed the installer to do something that was not contracted to be done."

We used Swisher Exteriors in the past to replace of all of our windows. The window replacement went very well and the work was excellent. We did receive a few quotes for the patio doors. Swisher's was the best quote received. Not only was the quote good, Chris Swisher went the extra mile to find aluminum siding to match what we had. Since we decided to put in two windows where the patio door had been we needed siding to close up the wall. The only problem I had was the new patio door was very hard to open. It was a Marvin door and a Marvin rep came out and removed gunk from the tracks. It had nothing to do with the installation of the door.

Price was a bit higher than company we hired. But the main reason we hired the other company is because the reference work we viewed seemed a little less precise, especially at seams and corners... not sure how long ago work had been performed.
Response from Swisher Exteriors Inc

"THANK YOU FOR THE FEED BACK. THE .024 TRIM COIL WE USE FOR THE FASCIA IS 25% THICKER THAN WHAT MOST CONTRACTORS USE. IT ALSO COSTS ABOUT 35% MORE, BUT YOU DON'T WIND UP WITH FASCIA RIPPLING IN THE SUN LIKE YOU HAVE NOW ON YOUR DORMERS. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A BID. CHRIS SWISHER, SWISHER EXTERIORS"

Very friendly and informative. Excellent customer service. Chris Swisher came to look at our house for an estimate. He was very helpful in offering prices for other possibilities, as we were also considering sliding doors. Instead of having him do all of the door measurements and bring in samples, he was able to give us a vague cost estimate that let us know we would have to wait until next year to do that project, We appreciated that. We then received a complete written estimate for the soffit system. When the work was done, the workers were very nice. They cleaned up everything outside of the house and finished the work within two days. The house looks great.

MY CALLS WERE RETURNED PROMPTLY. THE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AND ALSO SENT AS A BID IN WRITING 2 DAYS AFTER SEEING THE INITIAL JOB. WE WERE IMPRESSED BY HOW COURTEOUS AND PROFESSIONAL. THIS COMPANY ACTUALLY HAD COME OUT LAST YEAR FOR A QUESTION ABOUT OUR ALUMINUM SIDING AND CAULKED AROUND OUR FIREPLACE FITTING FOR FREE. (WE HAD JUST BOUGHT THE HOUSE)WE WOULD DEFINITELY WORK WITH THEM AGAIN!
