Frank did a great job servicing our A/C unit in May. We need to keep our house cool for our daughter's medical condition and Frank was very helpful in making our unit run more efficient. He was professional, provided terrific customer service and we look forward to working with him in the future.

Aaron and Trecker came out for a service call on Friday, Aug. 23rd. Correctly appraised the problem causing our A/C to fail. Accurately diagnosed the problem and came up with correct solution of replacing the condenser. Our A/C unit was original. It was 22 years old.
I trust Aaron and Trecker implicitly and have recommended them to many friends and family.

I liked everything about them. I've been using them on and off for 20 years just to clean my furnace because they had installed it 20 years ago, so I have used them over a long period of time. I didn't get an estimate from anyone else because they were the guys who took care of my furnace over the years, so I just went with them. The guys cleaned up great and answered my questions terrifically. Loyalty goes a long way.

Our old furnace had stopped working.  We called a couple different HVAC companies in the area.  Once of the companies we called was Aarons & Trecker.  They came out same day and did a quick diagnostic on the old unit and confirmed what others had already diagnosed.  They gave us a quote at the same time on the same day.  We scheduled the service for a couple of days later for work to begin at 8:00 AM.  The workers showed up at 8:00 AM promptly and had the complete job done by 2:00 PM that same day.  They were very professional and courteous.  We would highly recommend Aarons and Trecker to anyone seeking HVAC service or repair.

Service was very prompt and professional. Staff made every effort to make me aware of all rebates available at the time of installation to help offset some of the cost of installing a high efficiency system. The overall experience was very seamless from the estimate through installation. Work was completed as promised and installers demonstrated good workmanship throughout the entire installation. Installers took time to relocate/relocate all supply lines and accessories so they looked very neat as they had been installed by a professional. Staff took the time to explain how all the new equipment worked and how to program the smart thermostat according to our needs. Clean up was excellent.

We just moved into a 40-year-old house. The AC unit and the HW heater were both 30 years old. They were still functioning, but the quality of their performance was very poor. The furnace was 15 years old, but given the condition of the HW heater and the AC, we were guessing that it needed to be replaced as well. We noticed that in two of the bedrooms, the air was stale. We held a tissue near the return duct and noticed that there simply was no flow. In the basement, the supply and return lines were mislabeled, so aside from pokey trial-and-error, we weren't sure what went where. The previous owner had made some modifications to the duct work that had return air lines running through closets. It appeared that they tried to use a and quot;High-Lowand quot; system for return air by cutting holes in the walls near the ceiling and near the floor and installing vent covers. However, they didn't complete the job: many vent-holes weren't connected to the system, and those that were didn't have the damper-covers necessary (the ones that allow you to close off the vent) to properly operate the system. The odd duct-paths near the furnace made it clear that the system was not the original and that many short-term fixes were employed (presumably with limited success because there were so many). There was duct tape all over the place and upon careful inspection it was clear that many vent lines were not at all connected. The air was simply not getting to where it needed to go.
Despite not having the best Angies List rating, We went with Aaron and Trecker because:1) Based on the other feedback from Angie's List, we noticed that they could handle small AND big jobs. 2) We had picked a couple of HVAC companies to inspect the situation and provide quotes. Many were quick to offer information on the furnace and AC units, but were lacking when it came to the duct work (including outfits with superior Angie's List ratings). Aaron and Trecker provided crisp, confident answers and logical alternatives.3) We had a duct-cleaning company come out and perform their services and because of the porosity of the vent lines, they had difficulty in completing the task. They had talked about Aaron and Trecker having the skill of solving difficult duct problems. 4) A trusted work associate lives near one of the Aaron and Trecker workers and had provided positive feedback..
Bottom line: The furnace, AC unit, and hot water heater were replaced and the duct work mystery was unraveled to facilitate proper air flow. You can instantly tell the difference in the quality of the air and we now have hot water. The price was competitive and the work took two days. There were little things too: The paperwork was prepared nicely so that we could easily register the equipment, and they followed-up with an email chaser giving tips customized to our system and asking if we had any other questions or issues. Contrasting with the other outfits, there was zero pressure given towards signing up for a and quot;maintenance programand quot; or contract.
Given the outcome, I feel that the job was done right the first time and given how we communicated during this job, I would have no problem picking up the phone and calling if I had any issues in the future.
As such, I can confidently endorse the services of Aaron and Trecker.

Our home was built in 1985 and although a large expensive home....the original contractor must have taken the lowest bid on the heating and A/C system when the home was built. We had a mish mash of various brands and the way the duct work was laid out was abominable. Our current system did not cool the upstairs well at all due to being undersized and poor duct work. Since our current systems were reaching the end of their life spans we decided to upgrade our entire systems.Aaron and Trecker added an additional cold air return to our 2nd floor (with some help from our carpenter), this helped immensely with the volume of air we now get upstairs and greatly improved comfort. We can now actually get the 2nd floor to 72 degrees. The main floor system also works great. I love how quite the new units are and by leaving the fan running all the time our comfort level in the home has been greatly increased. The filters and UV lights have also noticeably reduced odors in the home. While this was not an inexpensive project, the quality and professionalism of the work preformed was top notch. My wife whom works from home was extremely pleased with how pleasant clean and neat the crews were. I am very picky and I was totally satisfied with the quality of work, how neatly all the duct work, wiring, piping and electrical work was preformed. If everything works as well during the heating system in winter we will really be happy campers :-)
I dealt directly with John Trecker and found him to be highly knowledgeable and honest. I would highly recommend Aaron and Trecker for home mechanical needs.

9/17/12-- System works wonderfully!! Finally the upstairs hits 72 without any problem....what a difference!

After having air conditioning maintenance contract for 8 years with this company I found out what they were really made of. My mother in laws air conditioning was serviced (cleaned). After three trips out cause it wasn't working they refused to service us under contract price to repair air conditioner. After having another service show up they determined there was not anything wrong with air conditioner. It just wasn't cleaned properly under normal maintenance. No physical repair. An 86 year old person lived in this unit for 4 days with no service from Aaron and Trecke during 95 degree heat. Beware of using this company. They have poor customer service and do not do the job. Office staff is rude and unresponsive.
Response from Aaron & Trecker Htg & A/c

"Really? This just shows you that even on Angie's list someone can write a negative report without the facts. As far as my office staff being rude and unresponsive..... they should not have to listen to people threaten them or swear and call them derogatory names. The homeowner received a full refund."

The guys that installed the furnace at my house were very polite, listened to great music, moved the stuff out of the room themselves, performed a great job, cleaned up after themselves and even kept my dog from running away! Oh and I can't forget the boss that came over to check on the work progress and introduced my husband to a new fishing lure! Thank you!

They used to have a great service technician in Wheeling, IL. He has left company. Since then it seems they have been sending a trainee for the winter tune up.
Response from Aaron & Trecker Htg & A/c

"I don't understand the remarks left by this Angies member. The last time our company was out to her home was in February of 2009 to install a new hot water boiler. At this time she filled out our customer satisfaction survey and gave us a perfect score. In addition her comments left were very positive about the two installers. This member has been a long time customer and has never given us any reason to believe that she was not satisfied. I called the customer to see what her concerns were and the member express that she was unhappy that the service tech that she liked was no longer with our company. This I can not control. I also asked why she waited so long to write her comments and there was no clear answer given."

THE GUY CAME AND TOOK APART MY FURNACE, SHOWED ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, AND FIXED IT. I WAS SO PLEASED THAT I BOUGHT A SERVICE CONTRACT FROM THEM ALSO. THE SERVICE CONTRACT WAS $185, IT COVERED CLEANING FOR THE HEATER AND A/C AND EVERYTHING. THEY ARE SMART AND CONSCIENTIOUS.
