Cedar Rustic Fence Co

I have been reluctant to let anyone work on my house of property due to previous bad experiences. I generally do the work myself but the scope of my fence job meant I needed to find an outside resource. I became and Angies List member for this reason. I contacted three fence suppliers, Cedar Rustic being the first to be able to come out and give me a quote. The day after my visit with the Cedar Rustic agent, Larry, I cancelled the other quote (the third one never returned my call). The fence sample quality, Larry's understanding of the product, and the price were all good enough for us to be willing to take a chance. The only downside was that, due to the time of year, we needed to wait 5 weeks to get our fence put in. The fence crew came out yesterday, July 9th. They were a little early (scheduled 9-9:30, arrived 8:30), which was ok by me since I had been up for hours waiting eagerly for my new fence. Lupe and I took a walk around looking at the plans from the quote and working out some spacing details while his crew got to work. They worked quickly and efficiently and left almost no trace that they had been there except for my beautiful new fence. In fact, I can't even tell that the lawn was disturbed. The fence is wonderful and completely changes our yard. The work by Cedar Rustic, both from Larry and Lupe and his crew, was stellar. If I ever need another fence, which I doubt, I won't hesitate to contact them.

Had to reschedule my appointment because they had truck issues, but it was rescheduled for the following day. They told me expect them to arrive by before 10am, they arrived at 8:30 and immediately started working and digging. They were done installing the fence by about 3pm. Fence was about 125 ft. and was 2 workers. These guys hustle! I was surprised and relieved that i had chose them to do my fence because i almost tried to do it my self and i know i wouldnt of finished that fast. Highly recommended. A little pricey but ive must of gotten 20 compliments in the first month of it being installed. .

I had just over 100' of cedar fence installed with 3 gates. Workers arrived on time, finished in time and cleaned all debris. Fence looks great. Highly recommend.

Sales process went well. Sales rep was knowledgable and had sample materials. Drew out detailed map of install. Even came back a 2nd time to remeasure when we were told that the fence line enchroached on an easement and we couldn't install there. (Note: Cedar Rustic does not handle the permit process). Install: Installers were nearly 2 hours late in arriving. Installers spoke little to no English. So little english was spoken that a neighbor had to give them instructions to our house in spanish because they couldn't understand english when they stopped for directions. Once the arrived, my husband gave them explicit instructions for the cleararnce above grade, as we had been instructed to do by the salesman. (This was very important as we had to meet code for a pool). The installers nodded and said "yes". Clearly they didn't understand a word of what was said, because when I arrived home and they were nearing completion, the majority of the fence did was above the clearance we had instructed them. When I tried to communicate with them, they didn't understand. I had to take a tape measure and measure the opening, point to the inches on the tape measure that were acceptable and ask my teenager who is in second year spanish how to communicate. Once we cleared that hurdle, they proceeded to climb on top of my new fence and pound on the top with a heavy object, causing me concern that they were going to damage the wood. When I approached them to ask if they were damaging it, again, they didn't understand me. They continued to pound on the fence. I tried calling the company, but it was in the evening and the office was closed. I left multiple messages. The sales rep did call me back and indicated that he was trying to get in touch with the install chief and the owner. When the install chief called me back, he was clearly annoyed. He didn't understand my sense of urgency, that we were having the final inspection the next day, and would not pass with the shape it was in. When he came out, he minimized my concerns and was a bit dismissive indicating that it all seemed to be aesthetics vs. security issues for the pool. I had to cancel my final inspection and reschedule another time for them to come and fix the issues. I indicated that he needed to be personally on site in order to ensure that his team could communicate with us. In addition to the space issue, when I pointed out mold on boards, ink marks etc, he just indicated "well our warehouse is damp". That's nice -but I don't have to pay $5k for moldy boards. After he left I found additional issues that needed to be dealt with and sent pictures for repair. 1st repair call approximately 1 week after install: Crew worked through issues that we noted. I was out of town during the work. Upon my return noted that boards had been incorrectly cut, were bowing, and cracking. Had to schedule a second repair call for them to come back and fix those items plus a gate issue. 2nd repair call went smoothly and we did a final walk through. Everything was completed to my satisfaction approximately 1 month after install. Note: The installers were incredibly hard workers and I don't fault them for all of this. This is the company's fault for sending individuals to do a project with no one that can accurately communicate with the homeowner and for sending bad materials. I need a deck built too, but I sure won't be using these guys again.

Update: The company president called to apologize and personally work with me to get a fence plan and estimate. It took some time, but I was extremely pleased in the final result. The install was smooth and quick. Took the day off from work to meet with Cedar Rustic on 4/23/2014 at 9:30am. By 10:30 am, I phoned to find out when rep would show up. They had no idea what was going on and had to call me back. Thirty minutes later, I got a call to reschedule with another rep later that day. At 2:30pm, a rep did show up. He measured the property, discussed a few options, and showed me some samples. He sat down to write up estimate, and then declared it was really complicated and would have to do it back at the office. This was the last I heard from Cedar Rustic. The following week, I phoned to find out if the estimate was ready and the receptionist said she would follow up with the rep, Joey Dunnett. As of today, I have had no response from anyone at Cedar Rustic regarding an estimate. I want to thank Cedar Rustic for wasting my time.

All I can say is that I can't wait to get up in the morning and open up my back door to look at my new fence and beautiful new patio. The installers did a great job and were very polite and kept us well informed of the progress. It took only one day to put the fence up and they really did a great job. It's a privacy fence and now i can finally let my dog out and not have to worry about it. And now for my patio. It took 4-5 days to put the big patio up and the only reason it took that long was because the weather was bad with a lot of rain and storms. Which I understood completely. Its was thundering and lighting and they were using electric tools . Safety comes first. The installers were great and very polite and kept us well informed of the whole process. I am so glad I went thru Angies List and called Cedar Rustic Fence. Thanks guys job well done. My husband is in hospice here at home and we are having a graduation party for our only granddaughter this july and we are decorating the patio and yard up for her party. After she graduates she is joining the Army and she is such a smart and beautiful young lady and we are so proud of her. Well now that I have spilled out my story once again thanks Cedar Rustic and Angies List for a great job. Linda P>S> I retired Dec. 30 , 2013 and i plan on putting my yard and patio to good use.

Because of winter weather project needed to be delayed several times. They were very flexible. Note you need to get and pay for city permit and call for an inspection. The crew that put in the fence worked from 9 AM until 8 PM without any breaks. This was back breaking work hand digging the holes. They did a very good job and the fence looks great. A little difficult on the communication skills but we both worked it out. No gate hardware included except for latches. If you want handles you will have to add.

Salesman was excellent. Returned several times to answer questions, explain.

Everything went great, very efficient !

Our portion was very small (about 20 linear feet including a gate), but they did an excellent job and our neighbor was very happy with the work as well.

The experience was good. The people were great. Everything was great about the experience.

Cedar Rustic replaced my old fence with a new cedar fence. The salesman came and showed us pictures of some of their past jobs. We compared their prices with other fence companies and their estimate was the best. I checked Angies list and they had great feedback. We set the install date and the crew arrived on time. Everything from start to finish went smoothly. About a week later, I found a defective picket. I called and Cedar sent out one of their guys to replace it a week later, as promised. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to install/replace a fence on their property.

Scheduled appointment for an estimate. A day was agreed upon for someone from cedar rustic to look at the work That needed to be done. He said cedar rustic would give me a call with the price in a day or two. Cedar rustic sent A written estimate on repairs needed with the cost. I called them and an appointment was scheduled. The worker Arrived in the time frame they gave, worked very diligent, replaced posts and tightened up other posts and re- Paired the gates. When he was finished he wanted me to check the work which I did to make sure I was satis- fied. He cleaned up after the job leaving no mess, and done a very outstanding job with the repair. Very satisfied customer!

Great price, Great service and a great Fence! I love it!!!

They were good at making sure the spacing was right, because we have a little 5 pound dog. They were done in one day. They had the best price of all of the companies that we contacted, and they could get it done sooner.

The experience was very good. I liked their promptness. I was surprised about how quickly they got the job done. The workers were average. The pricing was very good.

I moved in with my dad to help care for him after hip surgery. However, I needed to finish fencing in his yard for my dog. All went well. The sales person even came out in the rain to give me the quote and measure! I was very glad I did not have to reschedule because I was anxious to get the fence installed. A few days beforehand they called to confirm appt. and make sure I had my permit. They showed up on the delivery date on time and all went well. They cleaned up very well and the fence looks great. And the best part about it is that my dad, who takes very good care of his house, was very happy with it! Although my dog would prefer it wasn't there! I am ok with sharing this review as long as the address is not shown.

I got four quotes, this was the best by $150. The service rep I worked with was very professional.

We liked pretty much everything about them. They were good and responsive. The quote that they gave was reasonable. We have gotten another quote and they were able to beat the price and so we just went with them because they were both reputable companies. We were very happy with them and we would use them again. The fence looks great.

I had talked to 8 different companies before them, but I knew they were the ones I wanted to use. They worked two straight days in 90 degree weather, and they were some personable. They did an excellent job, and even came back out to make some quick adjustments later on with no problem. They were really well priced too, and very up front with their pricing!

Good. 1) I emailed for estimate. 2) They called me back and left message. 3) I called them back and set up estimate. 4) They came within the week. 5) Liked the estimate and set up an install with 1/3 down payment. 6) Had availability the next week for this small job. 7) I got the builders permit and called to let them know so they could proceed. 8) Guys showed up on time and were very helpful. I had forgotten to take down a small garden fence and they helped me take it down first. They were very efficient and did a very nice job. Everything was cleaned up and walked with me. I signed acceptance of work and made my final payment.

We called Cedar Rustic for a Saturday morning estimate, which was no problem for them. I believe the consultant who came out was Larry. He was really friendly, and not at all "pushy". After taking some measurements, he showed me several "live" types of fence posts and fencing he had brought with him, in addition to a nice catalog of all the different types of fences they do. The price was slightly higher than our other estimates, however, I could tell these guys would do a good job. When the crew came out, they took down our old fence, hauled it away, and put up a new one, all in one day. It looks great! We're so glad we got it done; it definitely adds curb appeal, whereas before, our fence was a detractor. Also, it has now ~5 months, since they installed it; however, it still looks brand new. No splitting, stains or anything like that, even after winter. All in all, I would certainly use their services again. As an end note, I also think it is cool that they give back to the community (free fencing for charity projects, etc.)

I was referred to Cedar Rustic by my neighbor, who had them install his fence. I liked how it looked, and the quality seemed good as well so I made an appointment with Bob Race from Cedar Rustic. He was able to come out right away and give me an estimate. Bob was very friendly, explained the history of the company, the quality of their products and the process. My homeowner's association has strict rules on how the fence should look, and Bob had no problem finding the right match. He even pointed out some issues with the fences of other people in the neighborhood that I wouldn't have to worry about with their fence (not enough horizontal supports, etc). After taking some measurements Bob drew up a diagram. One of my concerns was a few utility boxes on the lot line, and Bob knew all the information about how far the fence needed to be from them. He also suggested making one section removable (using screws instead of nails) above where a storm water drain is. The price Bob gave me seemed very reasonable so I signed the contract. He was going to schedule it for the next week, but I was a little concerned about how long it would take to get a permit from the city so he bumped it out another week. (It turns out the permit only took a couple of days.) But I was very glad with how quickly the installation could be done. I thought since it was the end of February I might have to wait for warmer weather. Installation went very fast, but still took most of a day based on how much fence there was to install. The fence sections were all pre-built and cut/arched, except in a few cases where full sections would not fit, in which case the workers manually cut the arches. The workers hand-dug ~3-foot holes for each post. I was concerned along the back of the yard since there is a utility easement there with power/cable/phone (marked by JULIE), but they had no problem getting the posts in. They made sure the fence was aligned properly inside the property line and leveled/plumbed appropriately. They had also asked me before installation how high above the ground I would like the fence to be. (I asked for it to be at ground level due to lots of rabbits in the area and having a dog.) Overall it was a great experience. I felt comfortable with Cedar Rustic from the initial phone call through the end of installation, and would definitely recommend them to others. Of course, the fence also looks very good and has been standing up just fine almost a year later.

You get what you pay for. I was more or less happy with the work until I inspected the gate which is not attached to the fence very well. Screws are visible, not very sturdy. Asked Cedar for someone to take a look, they said they would send the install crew back and no one ever showed up. I will reattach the gate myself once the Spring rolls around. Upon further inspection, some of the fenceposts are already splitting. On the pro-side, hard working crew on day of install, cleaned up the area nicely. Late addition to the order was not a problem for the company to adjust.

I really like the look and it will last a long time.
