Description of Work: I am really disappointed with Gutierrez Landscaping Company. There crew had the wrong address and inadvertently cut two paths into my front lawn. They absolutely scalped my grass down to about 1/8 inch and left a big mess in my front yard with clumps of grass all over my sidewalk and curb and they thought I would not notice. I understand it may have been an honest mistake in that they had the wrong address, but it is how they handled it is what infuriated me. They could have left a note on our front door acknowledging their mistake and they could have cleaned up the mess they left in the front yard. But instead they stopped mid job when they realized they had the wrong address and left a mess for me to clean up and they have burned out my front lawn and I am now going to have to resod. I left 3 messages on their answering service and have yet to hear back on how they intend to resolve this issue. I teach my kids all the time about accountability and I think this was completely unprofessional in how they handled this gaff. Buyer beware to never use these people and actually pay good money for ridiculously poor service.

Description of Work: Well, This is one of five companies I called for a good size back yard job. I left them three messages over a period of two weeks and never heard back from them. I joined Angie's list for preferred service. In the end, Only one company called back, came out and walked through the project with me. That company never delivered an estimate or returned a call. I ended up spending my entire summer doing the job myself with a neighbor.

 + 0 moreThe drain spout job went really well - so much so that I didn't even notice it was done as they had done a great clean-up job. The weekly landscaping is going well, too. When I used other landscapers, I always felt that they were over doing the lawn treatments. Mr. Gutierrez agreed and he put together a much more reasonable treatment plan. We have plans for more extensive landscaping in the future and Mr. Gutierrez is the person we will call.
Description of Work: We initially hired this contractor to bury our drain spouts and install bubblers in our yard. We have since retained them for weekly landscaping.

The company never called him back. very disappointing. i can't attest to their actual lawn services, but their customer service needs improvement.

Description of Work: I requested regrading of my property approximately 1 month ago. This entailed adding top soil to certain areas of my yard. Jose called timely and came out look at what I needed done and provide me an estimate. Because of the weather he said he needed to wait a few weeks before he could start the job which was understandable. He called me approximately May 2nd and said the work would likely start the week of May 5th but he would give me 2 days notice. I did not hear from him last week so called and left a message. That was4-5 days ago and I have not heard back from him. I am quite disappointed because I feel I have wasted so much time waiting for this to be done and since I have not received a return call I have to start this process all over with another contractor which is going to take time since the are all in their busy season.

 + 0 moreJose and the crew did an excellent job. They installed and anchored the timbers, added a drainage tube, and connected the berm structure to our existing staircase. It was fairly complicated, because it required tying together the new timbers to the staircase (that had become loose) and to some existing timbers at the top of the hill. Following this job, the crew cleared the hillside brush and scrub trees, then installed over 40 Sargent Junipers along the top half of the staircase. They provide a 1-year warranty on the Junipers, which is good due to the somewhat harsh conditions on this steep hillside. We definitely plan to use Jose's company for more of our landscaping projects, the work was priced fairly and was done professionally.
Description of Work: Installed timbers/berm at top of hill to control erosion, and planted 40+ Junipers on hillside along staircase for both erosion control and weed control.

Came out right away to view the project, and checked in daily to make sure that I was pleased with the progress and how everything looked. Pricing was very reasonable. Project was completed in a professional and timely manner. Quality seems very good. Work seems to be holding up well with the I would recommend using again...and already have recommended to a neighbor.
Description of Work: Removed existing walkway and porch, installed new walkway, porch, and sod.

 + 0 moreWe have used Jose and his crew for at least 8 years for a variety of landscaping, shrub replacement and maintenance, lawn care, and tree trimming. They always do a wonderful job. We now have several neighbors who also employ Gutierrez Landscaping on a regular basis. I had tried to re-seed a number of thin/bare spots in our lawn for two years without much success, so I decided to have some new sod put in. The cool rainy weather this spring made good looking sod available. They dug out the old sod from an area about 4' x 20' in our front lawn. They also re-sodded around a large smoke bush on the east side of the house, and an area about 6' x 12' in our back yard. They trimmed our magnolia bush and planted a new butterfly bush. We have them mulch all of our shrub and flower beds every spring. They use good quality hardwood mulch. Earlier this spring we had them help with clean-up, raking, and spread the first round of lawn fertilizer. I would highly recommend them for all of the different services they offer. Their prices are reasonable.

 + -1 moreI called Gutierrez Landscaping and Lawn Care Service on Monday, 11/14/11 to make an appointment for an estimate. The call went through to an answering machine, and I left a message with my phone number. I received a call back from Jose the next day, Tuesday, 11/15/11, and went over the services that I needed performed. Jose said he could come by to do the estimate on Saturday morning. We agreed that he would call me around 8 or 9 AM to let me know what time he could come out. Saturday came and went, and as of Monday, 11/21/11, I still have not heard from Jose or anyone else from Gutierrez Landscaping and Lawn Care Service. Since I was impressed with another company that I received a reasonable estimate from, I will not be following up with Gutierrez to have them complete an estimate. I find it unacceptable that they wasted my time waiting around for them and never contacted me.
Description of Work: I wanted an estimate for three large trees that I needed taken down, and one more that needed to be trimmed.

He would call me to follow up on pricing and scheduled the job quickly. We would use them again. It's nice to work with a smaller family owned business that cares and does great work!

 + -1 moreTheir work was okay; I was less happy with them this time than I have been previously. The estimate was for three hours but it only took an hour and a half. The man that came did not use a standard hedge trimmer, he used a hedge trimmer that was about six feet long. I think it was more than he could handle because he took notches out of the hedge and it doesn’t look so great anymore.

They were able to start our job in early July. Mr. Gutierrez was very professional and a pleasure to work with, as was his crew. I'd easily work with them again.
