Highly highly recommended. Unlike other providers, Hoekstra came out and made measurements and calculations based on the house and our usage, as Consumer Reports advises. They were able to customize a system for us. We spent more but got a really high efficiency, very quiet total system. Purchased through Costco. Got both ComEd and Nicor rebates.
From the initial contact, through the very thorough customization process, and right through the installation, Hoekstra was very professional. The technicians who installed the equipment wore booties and took the time to walk me through all I need to do to maintain it, and explained the entirety of the system to me, including the old parts. Very thorough, very professional, and friendly and hard working. Can't say enough good!

I waited over a week to hear back from them and when I still didn't, I called. When I talked to the person who answered the phone, she was very apologetic but informed me that they don't pull permits in the city of Chicago. I was very upset because I was inquiring about having a total system put in and clearly they knew I lived in the city, why didn't they tell me that upfront instead of wasting my time.
They have put in a new A/C unit and new furnaces as need be. I definitely like them and I have a maintenance contact with them so if I do run into any problems they come out and do the repair without charging overtime or weekend fees. I get a discount on the maintenance service and the cleaning of the furnace and air conditioners when I prepay for the service contact. I would definitely recommend them. They come out in the spring and the fall. Their maintenance agreements cost me about $279. I have two separate contracts so that is two units, once a year. They are very professional and the people that come out are young men and do the cleaning. They seem to be very knowledgeable about the units and they always communicate well with me about what is going on with the equipment. If there is anything that needs to be done, like if the filter needs to be changed or something with the humidifier they always take care of things promptly. They are pretty good about coming out when they say they are coming.
Later I had issues with Rebates for Gas company and Electric since I bought high effeciency items. I just made one call to Hoekstra and they dealt with both companies and I had no issues and just got checks in the mail for rebates. I was glad not to have to deal with that hassle.
This is the second house I have used Hoekstra on and while they are a little expensive I have no problem paying the extra money when I get such good service and don't have to deal with the hassle of other companies.

After having another HVAC repairman out to fix the furnace and it was still broke we called Hoekstra. Romell came out on Tues.11/4/14 to diagnose why our furnace blower was working but blowing cold air. After diagnosing that the problem was the circuit board (which is something the other repairman said it couldn't be) Romell called the office to order one since he did not have one on the truck. The next day Wed. 11/5/14 Tarah called to arrange for a repairman to come back out. She very nicely worked with me for a time frame where I could get home from work. Also, as she was working with me Tarah was very adamant that she knew we had no heat and wanted to make sure they took care of that problem. Tim came out and replaced the circuit board and the furnace has been working ever since.
Timely work and knowledgeable diagnosis.

"It was a tough catch to find our mistake during a polar vortex and with the furnace working at 15 degrees below the Chicago design conditions. Our Customer Service / Technical Staff were responsive, our Operations Manager stayed involved to resolve the issues while keeping me updated as I was traveling out of the country. I'm happy to report that the system appears to be working well and that I received a thank you for our complimentary compensation of over $500. Unfortunately we could not agree that an additional $4,000 refund was appropriate. We have a follow-up visit scheduled with a representative of the manufacturer to confirm that all is well."
