They virtually assessed my home and gave me a list of services they would provide at a much higher cost than competitors, but I was impressed with the sales pitch and hired them. The initial clean was suppose to be a detail clean of the kitchen and bath including “clean and shine of kitchen appliances”, “floors given extra attention”, “baseboards cleaned” and “cabinets and furniture wiped”. But after they left my baseboards and floors still had dog drool on them, my fridge was not wiped inside and out. My cabinets still had coffee drips, my trash cans and highchair still had food marks on them. Not to mention the windows still had streaks, my light switches were filthy, there was hair still in the bathroom and shampoo on the walls (which they argued were not included services for $600). No supervisor on site to check work and although very responsive, management seemed to question my complaints and was trying to tell me that what I expected was not what they offer???

After almost $800 paid for (2) deep cleans & bi weekly in a two month period, they never cleaned, dusted or sweep under the radiators. They left the same cobwebs in a convenient to reach space, 3 cleanings in a row. They promised to return the check on the last clean, after 2 weeks of not receiving it I emailed them. The office manager said, “Well call the Post Office!”

We had to file a police report, and there was an arrest of the person that was out doing the cleaning.

I had the owner of the business David Robak come to my home to give me an estimate. I reviewed the proposal and signed up the same day and requested cleaning to begin the following week. After following up three times I have received NO response despite being told they would get back to me an a day. AVOID this service - they are unprofessional and have horrible follow up.

I just started using Cleaning Authority. They do alright. There's just little things like the kitchen floor isn't quite done as well as I'd like. They forget to dust some of the pictures and stuff. It's just little things. It was a good value.

They come twice a month. I am happy with them. They're a really good company. They are fair. It's a fair price. I quoted others and all of them told me the same. It's all around $110 or $105, no one told me lower than that. They are nice. They warranty the job. If they find out I am not happy they come back and fix what I didn't like. They are always on time. I know they will be here tomorrow at the time we agreed.

I met with Glenn (?) who was delightful. He came and looked at my house, explained their services and quoted me a price. The price seemed high considering my house is modest and my friend who lives in a very large home pays the same. I was told to call to set up my first cleaning. I called twice and was told someone would get back to me, but they never did. The third time I demanded an explanation and was told that the delay was because their site manager (Glenn) had family issues. I knew this was a lie because he was the one who had already come to my house and he indicated that he has nothing to do with scheduling. When I called b.s. the person on the other end hung up on me. I wish I had gotten his name!! I usually don't bother to write reviews, but I just want to save others the time and aggravation!!

They come every other week. The grade depends on the crew that comes in. They have done satisfactory work. They are very reliable, come every time they are suppose to, efficient and do a good job. I have to go back and rearrange things after they dust.

The Cleaning Authority did a good job cleaning my home.  They owner is very friendly and customer-service oriented.  The only reason I discontinued my service was due to personal financial reasons.

They did a fairly good job but there were certain areas that they didn't touch and I'm having a difficult time getting back in touch with them. They left my window open in the living room, which was the bottom floor, so that was really dangerous. They did not wipe all the light fixtures nor certain pictures at the bottom level, and it was the initial cleaning, which is when they do the kitchen and bathroom area as part of a deep cleaning. Overall, it was pretty good, but those areas I was really concerned about because it's $158 that I'm paying them to do this. So, I called them when I got home and told them I liked just about everything except the areas that weren't wiped and asked if they could come back and clean up those areas, because I'm entertaining this weekend, but I didn't get a response. So, Friday I called and got corporate, they said their phone calls were being forwarded to them and so I was to send them a message. I sent them an email, and then yesterday I did get one back from a young lady named Amy, she is, I think, the office manager. She apologized for the things that were wrong and explained that Glen Schmidt is out of the office for the weekend, but she would have a crew come over on Monday and rectify the things that were done wrong. I paid so much money and we did a walk-through, so I was pretty clear on what they should have done, and that window thing is a really bigthing. I would love to upgrade their score because the bathroom and the carpeting were immaculate. They did a wonderful job on my glass fixtures. They didn't do kitchen lights, but then they explained to me they're not allowed to stand on ladders to do anything like that so they just dusted it. The pricing was fair enough because the initial cleaning is more detailed until they get it to the standard that they want it to be, and I had kids who had moved out because of college, so I had a lot of areas that I just couldn't get to. After the first two deep cleanings, it reduces to $100 every two weeks.

The first 3 times they came and do a and quot;deep cleanand quot; which I guess is my idea of a regular clean. There was always some area they missed... once the kitchen sink drains dirty, another time there was still lint on the carpet of my bedroom, and my tub looked clean but always had soap scum on it. I finally decided that I didn't have to pay $150 a month for the illusion of clean, I was fully capable of doing that myself for free.

The cleanings were only average and there were times I complained about certain areas that were missed by the cleaning crew but I did not receive a direct response to address the concerns.

Response from The Cleaning Authority - Grayslake

"When we first learned of the member's dissatisfaction with our service my manager and inspector attempted to resolve these concerns. There was obviously some misunderstanding and any concern about our quality of service is a great concern for us. It was clear to my manager and inspector that the member was not satisfied so I decided that it was time for me to make a personal visit and discuss these concerns with the member. Unfortunately on the same day the member sent another email indicating that she and her husband decided to terminate service with our company. In response I sent her the following email. --------------------------------- Hi Member, I am very sorry to hear that you have decided to terminate your home cleaning service. We put a lot of effort in delivering the service we commit to in our printed material. For most customers we are able to achieve that objective, albeit sometimes with adjustments, but it certainly seems we have failed you. My apologies. You have been very specific regarding the issues that concern you and this morning Cindy, Jacolyn and I concluded that it was important for me to set up a visit to review first-hand the concerns you have. It is very rare that we do that but in this situation it was critical for me to see what your concerns are and not just hear about them. Unfortunately you have made a preemptive decision. If you reconsider please let me know. I am always willing to learn ways to improve our business and I know that it is best to learn from mistakes and take corrective action to be sure it does not happen again. I hate losing customers for quality issues. The usual reason we lose customers is for things we have little control over, like moving or financial related issues. My best wishes to you and your husband. Thank you for your feedback and we will do our best to learn from this experience. I just regret we did not come together to resolve your concerns. Regards, Glen --------------------------------- Unfortunately the member's response was this Angies List report. As stated I would indeed appreciate the opportunity to address the concerns first-hand. Since we were able to provide service for many months to the member's satisfaction I am certain we can make adjustments and deliver the service to her satisfaction once again. Sincerely, Glen Schmidt, Franchise Owner"

We have a large, 5 bedroom home and just signed up for bi-weekly cleaning service. When we made the initial call, they promptly called back and scheduled an appointment within a day to give an estimate. The Cleaning Authority is a franchise-based housecleaning company, headquartered out of Maryland. They also use "environmentally friendly/green" products for cleaning and they supply ALL the cleaning products as part of their housecleaning price. This is a good thing for us since we have pets and small children in our home and we don't want them exposed to potentially unsafe chemicals. The Grayslake franchise is very good and they did a very thorough job cleaning our house. They were also price competitive with other cleaning companies. We also like the fact that if you see after a cleaning service by them that something was not cleaned to your level of standards, you can call them up and they will come out the next day and reclean the area in question at no extra charge. Not many other housecleaning services will stand behind their work like this. We recommend them for housecleaning service.

Things that I have found since the cleaning people left: a nasty, uncleaned corner of a closet, peanuts in shells, loose rice krispies, and a tack on the floor. They did fine on the obvious things, but I keep finding little things they missed. Not my new cleaning service.
Update: The more I move in, the more I find. Dirty dishes in dirty cabinets. Some beans and a can of Steno. There was a lazy suzy in a cabinet that was cover in a sticky I don't even want to know what. It's like they thought and quot;Oh, she won't get to this until she's at least half way unpack; blow it off.and quot; I'm really kinda p***** off.

The entire transaction was easy and the work was done on time and as promised. I did not inspect the work, but I did not get any complaints from the new tenants.
