I started dealing with ATLAS in March. Atlas told me that I needed to get a Comcast box moved away from the chimney. It took four months before the issue was resolved. However, during the 4 months, I had no contact with ATLAS on the status of my project. I called at least 6 times asking about the status and received no response. Not even, we are still working with your association about the comcast box. When I called in May. ATLAS told me that my file was not
active anymore. Finally, I heard from my association that the comcast box was moved that they were coming to fix it in August. I still had to call ATLAS to get the exact dates August 12 -13. When I told ATLAS that they should have called me on the exact dates and not left to the month of August. Then, 1/2 hour later, Jason called me to say that ATLAS was coming out on August 12 & 13th. Horrible communication and customer services. If anyone decides to go with ATLAS, I would recommend strongly that they get exact details and confirmation in writing. Don't rely on ATLAS to let you know. As Jason said "we did what was in the contract."
The foundation in one section of the area being repaired had a surprise problem. Through no fault of our own or Atlas (the original house owner built the addition on a patio instead of building on a proper foundation), the approved foundation repair plan had to be adjusted and Atlas personnel worked hard to maintain additional costs to a minimum yet still secure that area of the house so prevent future settling.
All windows and door open properly now and this major project was completed without any complaint.
The most touching aspect of this whole experience was something that the men working on our foundation did for us.
We lost a well-loved pet years ago and had buried him near a window where the foundation work was being done. The men found our pets' remains and tenderly set them aside and reburied them when they were completing the final cleanup of that area. We didn't know they had done this until they told us when they were leaving on their last day. They did not have to do this but they compassionately did and we greatly appreciated their thoughtfulness.
Every single Atlas personnel we dealt with, from the gal handling our calls to the last man cleaning our driveway of dirt and debris - everyone was courteous, professional, amiable and simply the best. We highly recommend Atlas Restoration!
"We immediately responded to a service call from this owner for a project we completed in 2007. The original repair performed by Atlas was to stabilize and lift the foundation at the front of the home - upon evaluation, measurements determined that the foundation wall has not moved. The homeowner showed us a crack in the concrete slab-on-grade floor that occurred subsequent to our repair. This slab is completely isolated from the wall that was repaired and it's movement is independent and not related to our work whatsoever. Atlas will always stand behind the work we perform 100% but we cannot be expected to be responsible for a problem that is unrelated to our work."
We scheduled with Atlas and when the time for the work came the job manager (Wil Smudde) came out and went over everything that was to be done. On Monday the crew showed up and began the work. The crew kept the mess of digging to a minimum. When the crew was about to leave for the day, my wife found that we had brown water. She showed this to the crew and they assured her that they had not hit the water line. But could not offer a explanation. She was told to call the office. The office was called and a message was left for Wil. He returned the call within 15 minutes, understood the problem and asked that he be given some time to talk to others. Within a hour (probably less), Wil returned the call with an explanation and also was sending out two of the crew to check. The explantion was able to clear up the brown water and the crew came out and verified that there was no water in the hole.
I was very satisfied by this GREAT customer service.
Their crew showed up early on the scheduled work date, completed excavations for four piers on day #1, completed raising the foundation on day #2, correcting the problems listed above. Also on day #2, they removed a sunken section of sidewalk at our front entrance and poured concrete for a replacement.
Their crew was very efficient, careful to clean-up the area each day and did an excellent job of re-grading the landscape around the work area. We were totally satisfied with scheduling, communications with the company and professionalism of their work crew. I would be pleased to recommend Atlas Restoration in the future.
Update 9/13/12
They did get me a proposal but I decided to go with someone else.
