When the package arrived with all the sensors I was a bit hesitant about putting them all in but if you don't mind getting on a step stool and peeling off tape to stick on sensors it's very straight forward. I did use a screwdriver to mount the smoke detectors on the ceiling but that was the extent of the work. I quoted a similar system with another security company (which they would have installed) and it was twice the price so the hour I spent to put all the sensors up was well worth it.
The online portal they have is very easy to set up and they gave me a personal walk through everything by phone. I am pretty computer literate so it may not be the same experience for all but it is pretty intuitive. The process for the camera activation was a little more complicated but if you follow the directions it's a one time thing.
Funny thing is that I also bought a water sensor for my basement because we had some issues with our sewer backing up in the past. One week after the install we had our spa serviced and the tech left the garden hose running in the tub when he left. As it overflowed the water ran into a basement window. Within minutes my and my wife's phones were ringing and text messages were coming in to our cell phones and the cameras went into security record mode. So we found out quickly that this thing actually works. If we had not not had that sensor installed we probably wouldn't have found the water running for days since we don't go down to the basement often. That would have been a big mess.
All in all we are very satisfied and would recommend SafeMart and LiveWatch for security and fire monitoring.
I did not seriously look at ADT and a few others because of all the other negative reviews and comments.
Because I have a ranch house, I need a lot of first floor window and door sensors. Some people like to use motion sensors instead of window and door sensors. I have a dog. I also have grandchildren staying at the house a lot. Motion sensors do not work well for me in most of the house because too many people or the dog could be moving around late at night when we set the alarm for "stay" as opposed to "away".
My total cost of equipment was around $800 bucks. Some people will give away the equipment, but charge a higher monthly fee and lock you into a 3 year contract to recover the cost of the equipment. Nothing is free in this world so it is just a question of pay me now or pay me later.
Also, the equipment from SafeMart is NOT locked into this vendor like equipment from other vendors. So it can be moved to another monitoring service after a small one year commitment. They also offer a 90 out if you are not satisfied. In my opinion, you cannot beat this deal.
Because they are painting the house, I gave myself a month to install before actually activating my service. This is a self install system, but it is EASY to install.
November 2 was my activation date. Their representative called me and went over everything. They took the time to answer my questions. When there were a few unresolved issues at the end of our call, they called me back as they were working through them to keep me in the loop. As of November 3, all was resolved and the system is working just fine.
I also have a remote panel to control the system in the house. We can also control it via our iPhones. We also have some controllers on lights so we can turn them on at night when we are away from the house.
I am very happy with SafeMart/LiveWatch and how they bring together a total solution with an easy to install system. Believe me, anyone can do this and because you do it yourself, you tend to know the system much better than if you turned over the installation to someone else.
The only comment I would make to SafeMart is to monitor the social media and Angie's List at least twice a day to answer customer and prospect comments and questions. I noticed other vendors are very responsive on social media while SafeMart....well not so much. People make decisions very fast and I almost went somewhere else waiting for responses on Facebook and Angie's List. But glad I was a bit more patient and still went with SafeMart.
This is a COMPLETELY wireless system (the sensors communicate to the alarm base unit wirelessly, and the base unit communicate to the monitoring center using what amounts to a cellular phone. No land lines to cut!!).
In addition, their contracts are VERY straightforward, easy to understand, and when the contract expires, they don't try and screw you like other companies do and renew you for another year. It's month-to-month once the initial contract runs out.
We first used Safemart to monitor a house my wife inherited after her father died last year (in another state). I installed the sensors myself, made an appointment to test all of the sensors, and on the schedule day, they made sure that every sensor worked correctly. A back-door sensor went off one night because someone forgot to lock the back door and the wind blew it open. Safemart called us within a minute of the alarm going off and dispatched the police (thankfully, it was not a break-in).
The Smartphone app has been fantastic, as well as their website (and Alarm.com, which actually provides the monitoring service).
When we sold the house, we were still under contract, so we had a neighbor of her fathers ship the unit back to us. The unit must have gotten mishandled during shipping, as it wouldn't work properly when it arrived (it had worked flawlessy for the three months we had it in her father's house, and the new unit has worked flawlessly for 5 months now). They shipped us a new unit and the re-activation went smoothly. They even sent us over a dozen 3M sticky pad so that we could re-mount all of the sensors from our other home, free of charge!
They're based in Kansas, so there was no problem dealing with people with foreign accents, and that Midwestern politeness was ever present.
I really can't say enough good things about this company. If you want a solid alarm system that's easy to use, great tech support, reasonable rates, and easy to understand (and fair) contract, go with Safemart!!
The system was so simple to setup and their support people are excellent. One of the other pluses is that they only require a one year contract for monitoring while most of the other companies require a 3 year contract. The monthly monitoring fee was also lower than other alarm services I researched.
I can also expand my system in the future by adding pre-programmed sensors, etc.
If you are in the market for an alarm system I highly suggest you contact Safemart. So far I have been impressed.
We've had a few false alarm triggers with some guests visiting and the monitoring company was prompt and thorough in calling them in. You never know if all of this will work when you're not home and a real alarm is turned in, but the way they handled these false alarms is reassuring and better than my prior experience with the other alarm company.
On the negative side, I found their website advertising a bit misleading in that I thought I could simply switch my hardwired system to them by programming a new phone number for it to call. They required me to buy a new cellular device to connect to the alarm panel and pay a higher monthly rate for cell service. This is clearly a better system in that we are no longer susceptible to an intruder cutting the phone line to the house, but it leaves you wondering if you were sucked in by a teaser price and forced to buy an expensive piece of hardware that is not necessary. How does anyone get the lower rate if they require you to use cell service? There is also a 1-year contract required which I would have like to have been more clearly stated.
There is a bit of initial confusion with the various names of SafeMart, LiveWatch and the company that actually tracks the alarm system, named CMS. However, so far it all works well and I'm pleased with having made the change.
everything! I am completely satisfied with the system and would recommend SafeMart to anyone without hesitation.
monitoring service works and all the settings on the alarm. The Livewatch monthly monitoring rates were about $10.00 cheaper per month than competing alarm companies. I would definitely recommend Safemart if you need a home alarm and
monitoring.
