If you think you have any questions about mold call Brian, period. You will be blown away at his knowledge and ability to determine the issue as well as provide practical solutions. We had an odor in our house and called another company. They cleaned our air ducts and the smell went away for a while. Brian came to our house on a Saturday and did a thorough inspection of our home. He explained how mold grew and where in our home we could find it. He used specific equipment to aid in his inspection to test for the presence of water as well as tested our air quality. He provided peace of mind and found exactly what was causing our issue. You will be hard pressed to find someone more knowledgeable on the topic. He also provided a reference for remediation - another bonus as he is not conflicted with also being someone that will "diagnose" the problem and provide the solution.

he came in, listened to my reasons for contacting him, made a physical assessment, poked the flooring with a special tool to test for dampness, took air samples to determine mold content; suggested where I could make improvements to better air quality in the condo, recommended a new vacuum; said that the job was not as big as he expected and so he reduced the price he had quoted to me over the phone.

We were found to have considerably less mold than we suspected. But because we are acutely sensitive to mold (I have pulmonary fibrosis and my wife has asthma), sufficient alarm was raised for us to remove basement furniture that had adjoined foundation walls and wash the concrete walls with store-bought mold killer. Mr. Bussey pointed out areas of mold growth that we could sense but not see. He also passed along useful information on air purifiers, especially how to separate good products from the mediocre. . We asked for and received his recommendation for a company that cleans ventilation ducts, but he did not initiate this information and he averred that he has no financial ties with any of the companies he recommends (he restricts his business to mold inspections, not remediation.) As it happens, a week or so later another patron a Starbucks overheard my commentary on our household mold problem, and he recommended highly a fellow who had inspected his house two years ago.. It was Bussey Environmental Inc. Small world. I certainly would use Mr.Bussey again--and will, every several years.

He was good but he didn't find any molds. I used him about a year ago. He made recommendations for what we could do. He didn't really find molds but he gave us indications where we can find molds and where we wouldn't. He told us what to do with that. I thought he was very good. His price was not quite on top because it costing more than what we would have liked.

Brian was very professional and friendly. He called to say he was running late, which I appreciated. He explained what he was doing and answered all our questions thoroughly. He told us that, from what he was able to see, he didn't have concerns about mold, and that he didn't think we needed air quality tests. He made a number of recommendations for materials for when we get repairs done. I was very happy with our experience with Brian.

BUSSEY ENVIRONMENTAL INC. - Mold Testing & Remediation Bussey Environmental was very knowledgeable, and did a quality job.

The company came in and set up monitors in the attic and two bedrooms to determine if there was asbestos and is it was present the extent to which it was present. The company came back later to remove the monitors and submit the results to a company to determine the extent of the asbestos. The company came back and discussed the results and gave us possible routes to take concerning the asbestos without pressuring in any way.

Provided a detailed report of the locations, types and levels of these. Provided a brief set of recommendations for remediation of the problems. He would have given us a complete detailed remediation protocol for an extra charge but we decided what had had already provided was sufficient He also helped us coordinate with the people who did the actual remediation work.He was very professional and gave us a lot of useful (if, in some cases, distressing) information. I would recommend him highly.

We had vermiculite in our attic, and some vermiculite has been known to contain asbestos. Additionally, based on the age of our home, some ducts in the home could have been put together with tape that was known to contain asbestos. Brian came in to test for asbestos in both areas. He was extremely knowledgeable about asbestos and the right types of tests to apply. He found the ducts were fine, but the vermiculite contained asbestos. We had to have another contractor come in to abate, clean, and encapsulate the vermiculite (we went with a company that Brian suggested and knew of their past experiences...great value there as well), and Brian returned to do final testing and ensure all was clean. The $800 above covered the costs for his labor and detailed reports to be used as proof of what was exactly completed. This does not include the tests which depending upon what is needed can range from $150 for TEM tests and $350 for the air test. This covers the lab fees basically. Brian was always timely and if he was going to do something, he did it. He was available for calls and even if you get his voicemail, he responded in a great time. Bottom line, we would use Brian for not only asbestos, but other services he does as well including mold because of our experience with him.

I worked with Brian twice--first when I moved into my home to have him assess the asbestos on some piping in my basement, and again when I started to do some construction in the basement. He was great both times. My home was built in 1928 and had some pipes in the basement wrapped in asbestos. I had Brian test them when I moved in and give me a recommendation on what to do with them. He also did some environmental testing (e.g. for radon). What I really like about him is that he has deep knowledge but is not alarmist. He gave me the facts and my options. The asbestos on the pipes wasn't friable, but if and when I did any construction it should probably be removed. I asked for estimates on removal and he gave them to me, but he told me very honestly that he didn't think I needed to spend the money at that point. However, a few years later when my basement flooded I had to redo the whole thing, and discovered that not only was there asbestos on my pipes, but the floor underneath the basement carpet was asbestos as well. My contractor (who is another story) said it was "no big deal" and his people could break it up and get rid of it, and I of course immediately called Brian. Again Brian was not alarmist, and actually told me that asbestos floor tiles are usually not as friable as on piping, but he said it would be much safer to have it professionally removed. Moreover, because they were going to be breaking down walls around the piping, he said it would be important to have professional asbestos removal for the whole thing. He gave me three references for companies he had either worked with or knew of their strong reputation for asbestos remediation. I went with one of them and they were terrific. Brian came in and tested after the work was done and all went well. I was looking for a special vacuum to clean the couch that had been in the basement, and Brian hooked me up with a company that sold the commercial hepa vacuums he uses, and was able to buy one for a great price. I also had him look at some mold on the ceiling in my basement. I was very afraid of black mod because friends of mine had literally had to tear down their house because of it. Thankfully, all he needed to do was inspect it to tell me that it was not black mold and could be scrubbed off the ceiling. All in all, a great experience with Bussey Environmental and I would definitely use them again (although I hope I don't have to!!)

That job went well and I had no complaints. They did not remove anything so they did not have to clean up. They came across as very trustworthy and straightforward. They gave a very honest evaluation of the problem. I spent $325 on that work. The price was a little high.

Brian was great to deal with, he first spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with me discussing the issue to be sure that it was even worth his coming since he charges you a pretty high flat rate just to come, and I really appreciated that, then once at our home he did a very thorough analysis and did an excellent job of explaining my options. It was all expensive, but that may just be the case with all environmental testers, I did not try anyone else becasue of his high ratings on Angie's list. The one issue I had was that he was not great on the follow up piece, I had to follow up to get the results from the initial test, he did not contact me with those by phone, email or mail until I called to ask, and then after the certification results came back, while he did call and email me the results I had to follow up with him twice before he mailed me the formal hard copy on his letter head that I wanted for our records. I have already recommended him to someone else and would use him again, just be aware that the paper work part does not seem to be his forte.

i moved some boxes in my basement and found dark spots on the wall. Was concerned about dangerous mold so I called Bussey based on rating here. I think it was a good decision. He readily gave advice for free and told me what I should start to look for. He may still need to come out, but at least I can make an educated decision before I spend money.

I think it went very well. Work done on time and at the estimated costs. Follow up reporting was excellent. Just what we needed to document a successful remediation.

Brian is very knowledgeable. I picked this company because of its Angie's List rating. He was on time, always responsive to my emails and phone calls with questions. This company does not actually get rid of the mold. So Brian came out, did an inspection and testing, took air samples/tests, and scraped mold onto slides and sent them for testing. The report came back and we used that to negotiate with the owner of the house to get a credit so that we could have the work done after we closed on the house. I was convinced with Brian's recommendations that we would be able to buy the house and have the problem fixed to our satisfaction. After we moved in, we hired two different contractors to come out and kill the mold and then add insulation and ventilation. Brian gave us a list of contractors who do that work, most of which were top rated on Angie's List. We went with the best rated companies, their prices came in at what Brian said they would. Brian came back and inspected their work, did more testing, and confirmed that the work was done properly. I really liked having an independent person recommending what work to do and inspecting it after the fact. How else would I know whether the mold killing company was doing what they should? We love our house. Everything is great now and I am confident that if we sell it, I have all the paperwork to show that the mold problem is eliminated.

Everything went very well. We chose them based on their professionalism and their ability to explain everything to me. They also got back to me right away and it was on a weekend.

They were fantastic. I spent $3000 on that work. I would give them an A across the board. They were professional and explained their business well. They were responsive even on a weekend and were committed to deadlines. They worked well with the insurance and they were terrific. He was efficient and responsive.

He was pretty good and thorough. He came right away. He was knowledgeable. He was very professional and came when he said he was going to come. The price was a little more than what I would have liked to spend, but it was reasonable. He was punctual.

There isn't much to tell - I had mold problems in my basement, and air quality issues in the upstairs house, due to construction work. Brian came out, took samples and tested them. He called me back with the results and with recommendations for how to clean the house and clear the air. I followed all his recommendations, which required me to hire folks to clean my upholstered furniture; a professional cleaning service for the hard surfaces and basement; and an air duct cleaning. All of these made a huge, huge improvement. I would highly recommend Brian - he's practical, highly responsive (came to my house on Christmas Eve) and results-oriented.
