I ended up being disappointed with TMW's finished product! I believed that I would be getting a quality job for the money that was being paid to TMW Paving. My initial meeting with Tyrone Ward went very well. I received 3 proposals from companies on Angie's List. I chose TMW Paving for 2 reasons. Tyrone gave us the best price and I felt confident with him because he spent a lot of time with me discussing our project. He answered all of my questions and seemed very knowledgeable. On October 4, 2010, Tyrone's crew began our project by breaking up and removing all of our existing driveway and sidewalks. Everything was hauled away and the new driveway and sidewalks were formed. I did not see Tyrone on Monday because he had an important family commitment. His crew worked well together and it looked like everything was going fine. I did notice that one of his crew ( I believe his name is Ozzie) spent a huge amount of time on his cell phone. I could see that he was both texting and talking on his phone. I have had a large amount of work done on our home in the last 4 months, and I have never seen a worker on his phone so much. In fact, everytime that I went outside to ask him a question, he was on his cell phone. Being that Tyrone was not present on that day, Ozzie was the person I needed to speak with about any concerns. I even mentioned this to Tyrone the next day, and he wasn't bothered in the slightest about this information. After looking at the formed sidewalks, my husband and I decided that we wanted the front sidewalk to be wider. It was too narrow, especially at the curve. I asked Tyrone to come to our home on Tuesday to talk with us about it. He came over and we showed him where we wanted the sidewalk forms to be moved to. He told us that his crew would change the forms the next morning, prior to putting the wire reinforcement down for the driveway. On Wednesday, 10/6/10, his crew arrived and did move the forms on the front sidewalk and then put the wire down on the driveway. They waited for the concrete truck to arrive and began pouring the new sidewalks and driveway. It looked like everything was going well, and I enjoyed watching this whole process. After the 2nd concrete truck arrived, they worked to complete the walks and driveway by doing the California finish on them. I really liked this finish! Later that afternoon, I was standing in my garage watching his crew completing their tasks. His men had decided to use our front hose (right next to our front sidewalk) to wash off their tools. They used pieces of wood over the sidewalk to stretch the hose onto the front yard. As I was watching, one of his men tripped over a piece of wood while jumping over the sidewalk. I WAS SHOCKED AS I WATCHED A PIECE OF WOOD FALL DOWN ONTO THE NEWLY POURED CONCRETE!! They picked it up and proceeded to use different tools, including a broom, on the spot where the wood had fallen. I hoped that it would be OK, because I believed that they knew what they were doing. Unfortunately, our new front sidewalk no longer looked beautiful. Due to their carelessness, we had smudges from the trowel and scratchy looking lines from the broom on one section of the sidewalk. These men also dripped water from our hose on to another section of our freshly poured concrete. So, there were obvious water spots on the sidewalk. I wanted to scream at these men after this, but I did not. Tyrone was not present at our home when all of this happened. He comes and goes throughout the whole project, rather than staying with his crew. Later that afternoon, Tyrone arrived and stayed for awhile inspecting the job. I was still hoping that our front sidewalk would look good, because to be honest, I don't know much about concrete curing. I thought it might be a temporary situation. Tyrone never said anything to me, even though he saw the problem with the sidewalk. His crew finished up the rest of the driveway and did their best to pick up falling leaves. They borrowed our leaf blower to help with leaf removal on the wet concrete. A few days later, I called Tyrone Ward to talk with him about the sidewalk. I told him how disappointed my husband and I were with the pour quality of the finish. I told Tyrone exactly what I had observed when the wood fell. He told me that he had seen the sidewalk and wondered what had gone wrong, BUT HE NEVER ASKED HIS CREW WHAT HAPPENED. I find that to be very upsetting that he did not speak to his men about it. During my lengthy conversation with Tyrone, he constantly refered to his crew as "my guys".These men were very careless, resulting in a less than quality job for us. His crew made this mistake and never even told him about it. Tyrone finally said that he was sorry that it had happened, but that his men made a mistake at a time in the concrete curing process where nothing could be done to fix it. I told Tyrone that his men never should have touched my hose which was right next to the newly poured concrete. I have a hose in the backyard that they could have used to wash their tools. Not one of the crew asked me if I had another hose, yet they earlier asked to borrow an extension cord and our leaf blower. It was a series of mistakes that caused this. First, the decision to use our front hose, second the decision to build a wood bridge to stretch over the wet sidewalk and third, one of the men's decision to jump over the wooden bridge instead of walking around our bushes to the other side of the sidewalk. TMW'S CREW DEFINITELY DOES NOT TREAT THE CUSTOMER'S PROPERTY WITH RESPECT! They also broke at least 3 different branches off of shrubs near the work areas. Tyrone needs to act like a boss to these men, rather than like one of "my guys". I think that he is too laid back with his crew and does not set high expectations for them while they are working on a project at a customer's home. Tyrone is very knowledgeable about everything about concrete, but he needs to run his company in a more professional manner. SO, THE END RESULT IS THAT WE ARE STUCK WITH A FRONT SIDEWALK THAT IS LESS THAN APPEALING AND WE GET TO LOOK AT IT FOREVER!!

"At the time this project was happening I had a Number of Doctor's appointment s with my son so I was not abel to manage the job from on the site witch is not normal Ozzi one on my crew members is the Guy I rely on for contact when I'm not abel to be thier and at the same time I new he had some one in his family in the Hospital so the extra ammount of texing made sence to me but none of that made a differance to the job performance The main spot in questions is about three inch by three inch area and is just discolored and the broom marks are more deeper I told the customer we could replace it but when placing one pour in the middel of another pour you will get a differant color square so that would put us back to the same place as today she aggreed that replacing it would not be good eaither over all the job look grate except that one area that I not happy about eaither I know over time it will blend in with the other concrete but that dose not hapen in a moth and as for the person that knock the board over in to the concrete he could not be more sorry ,but concrete being a very senitave material at the stage it was setting up thier was not any more anyone could do"

Overall, it went well, despite some problems (which is always the case with any home improvement project in my experience). Tyrone is very responsive and professional. There were some problems in the pouring of the concrete - the concrete truck hit the wooden form and busted it open. It resulted in two steps not being completely level. Tyrone was honest with us about the mistake and gave us a discount for that since it could not be fixed without repouring all of the concrete. The truck incident also resulted in several spots on the risers of the steps not filling in properly with concrete. Tryone patched these spots - it took several weeks and many attempts to get the large patches to blend with the rest of the concrete, but he did not stop working on the problem until we were satisfied. The small concrete walkway is a slightly different color than the stairs, but it blends. It was poured on a different day and the concrete mix was not identical to the stair mixture. If this is an issue for you, you may want to ask Tyrone how to deal with that in advance so that you do not have two different colors of concrete in very close proximity. Tyrone also worked with us through many attempts at matching the colors. Ultimately, it is acceptable to us now, but I wish that I had known in advance that two different colors is a possibility. The overall outcome is very lovely. The pattern on the stamped concrete is exactly what I wanted and the color is very nice. Tyrone is very professional and easy to work with. We had paid him in full before realizing that there were problems - he held our check for 3 weeks and did not deposit it until we officially released it when we were happy. I would definitely work with Tyrone again. He is very honest and a pleasure to work with.

Tyrone and his team didn an excellent job. He scheduled an appointment quickly, reviewed the requirements and provided excellent information on what needed to be done and how he and his team would accomplish it. They showed up on time, and completed the removal of the existing concrete and setting the forms for the new concrete. Tyrone worked with the village inspector on a few code issues (not related to the concrete work, but to work previously done by the former home owner) and was able to correct the issue through the new installation. His team was courteous, professional and focused. It's always good when you work with someone who is passionate about his job. Tyrone has a passion for concrete, and shares that. He is always willing to answer questions about the process, and takes pride in completing a quality job. We were very pleased with the results and would go directly to him for any future work that we would need completed.

They are very good. I liked that they got back to us and they did what they said they would do. They did the work according to the specifications of the village. We got the permit. He was very knowledgeable and he did not only know the answers to the questions, but also had an explanation.

While I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get an estimate I appreciated being told up-front as opposed to being provided with poor service down the road. He did refer me to another company but as they weren't listed on Angie's List I chose not to call them.

Tyrone and the team did a great job keeping in contact with us, explaining their estimate and explaining the process and how to prepare for the job. They handled the permitting process with no intervention on our part, which was great. The job was done on time and neatly, with great follow up and a few extras thrown in for our satisfaction-like integrating the stairs with the riser to the front door. Overall, a great experience and a good company to work with.

We haven't done the work yet. The owner was very responsive and he came out. He actually had a family emergency and called to tell me that he was otherwise engaged and would be back in a few days if that were acceptable, which was pretty impressive. When he did come out, he talked to me about the concrete. I thought he was educated. We had some issues with some sinking on our apron and he discussed ways to get that fixed, ways to perhaps dig the village on those issues. He seemed to be knowledgeable about the slant. We talked about other finishes for the concrete and what would be good and bad. He had a nice educational background and I would definitely trust him to do the work. His quote came in the middle with some of the other companies that we received quotes from. We decided that right now we had to get a fence fixed before we could get our concrete done and that is the only reason we didn't have him do the work. Hopefully this summer he will be under consideration for having work done in the future.

The work was fabulous! The concrete work was beautiful. They had to put the forms out for the sidewalk and the front stoop while I was not home, and it was much prettier than I would have been able to do myself (I wanted a curvy sidewalk, not a straight one). And the trench drain system works great. Furthermore, even several months later, when I had a question about a hairline crack, I got a call back *that same day*!!! I think that's really amazing service for any contractor. I am so impressed with their work and how pleasant and responsive they were. I would definitely use them again!!!

I had at least five different concrete estimators lined up to bid on this job. All were very pleasant and appeared to be fully capable to work with me on this job but Tyrone (owner of TMW Enterprises) won out on this one for two reasons. First Tyrone offered to remove the brick patio himself at no cost where all other contractors wanted at least $600+ to perform that work. Second was Tyrone's bid which was the lowest of the five bids I received. Additionally I asked for 'estimates' on removing/expanding our asphalt drive for next year with concrete, removing and pouring a side walk and new stoop, along with removing and repouring a new garage apron (our apron was deteriorating and a friend suggested the apron be replaced so that the new pour would blend in nicely with the garage). I knew whomever got the bid for our patio would also be doing our driveway next year. Tyrone was the only contractor who asked me why I was ripping out and pouring a new garage apron aside from the fact of a 'pitted' finish. He mentioned that removing an old apron may cause more problems down the road and suggested a new proven method of scarring the old apron and laying in tile. He mentioned that the cost was less, the outcome fantastic, and the result just as durable as concrete. HIs idea seemed prudent and the cost on this 'second' estimate was also lower that other estimators. Weather was a factor in Tyrone getting started and held him back until start of November when he was able to still pour without the need of additional chemicals to the concrete do to any freezing conditions. The work was completed in two days and the result beautiful. Part of this pour was three arched stair casements in front of three doorways leading onto this patio which were to match the major arch designed into the patio itself. A fine job by Tyrone and his crew in coming through and I'll be seeing them again in 2010 for the driveway job. I also appreciated Tyrone's crew removing those bricks for me..I had already started removing/washing/stacking before he came into the picture with his offer and had thought I had a good start to another GREAT WALL being created.

I was very pleased with the work of Tyrone and his crew. When Tyrone came out to give us his estimate of the work, he gave us a few options. We chose to have our asphalt drive and sidewalks replaced with all concrete. Workers arrived promptly as scheduled on Monday, and removed the sidewalk and driveway. All the debris was hauled away, and the existing base was graded adding gravel where needed for proper pitch. The forms were set in place, and the area was made ready for the city inspector. The city inspector came out on Tuesday and approved the pre-pour. On Wednesday, concrete was poured and wire reinforced. I have had complimentary comments from neighbors on how great the driveway looks. It looks fabulous, and is such an improvement over our old asphalt drive. I was very pleased with the work of TMW Enterprises, and would strongly recommend them. Thanks Tyrone.

We are prepping our house for sale. We have an asphalt driveway that runs along the side of the house to the back. The driveway abuts a concrete patio. The driveway runs along the property line (of a nightmare of a neighbor). Tyronne came out right away and gave us estimates on concrete repair and asphalt repair (which is first great thing about TMW -one stop shopping - they do concrete, asphalt, as well as brick pavers). Tyronne spent a good amount of time going over our various options. He graciously accommodated all our pricing requests and drew up a proposal with all options that we could pick and choose from (this is the second great thing about TMW). Then he went to the village (twice) for permits and spent a lot of time with the inspector and engineers (where even more options were discussed). He kept us informed with all the details (and that's the third great thing about TMW - Tyronne spent so much time preparing for what ended up being a relatively small job - but Tyronne wants things done right - the fourth great thing about TMW - excellent service). We ended up going with a simpler and less expensive solution...but that was totally OK with Tyronne...he even recommended it! Tyronne is the BEST contractor we have met. We HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Tyronne and TMW. It would be a mistake to go elsewhere.

Tyrone returned my calls promptly and made an appointment to provide a quote. He suggested replacing my walkway which was in good shape but had sunk a few inches. It added $400 to the cost of the project but it turned out great since the driveway and walkway are now on the same level. Tyrone and his crew came on Thursday morning at 7:30am to demolish the asphalt driveway and concrete walkways. The crew put up the forms and was done by 1:30pm. The concrete was poured on Friday morning (7:45am) and the surface finished by 1:30pm. On Saturday morning (7:45am), Tyrone removed the forms and washed concrete surfaces. Tyrone and his crew were professional and prompt. The neighbors said the concrete driveway looked nice. Tyrone also picked up the permit for the project. He explained every step of the concrete installation process. Tyrone put the grass back along the driveway's edge.

"The member was grate to work with but with that crab apple tree hanging over the drive and dropping leafs it made it a challenge (so a few leafs got finished in to the concrete but this will not shorten the life of the drive just a minor blemish)"

We're very pleased overall with Tyrone's work. He was prompt and enthusiastic about the job. He personally put in some weekend work to ensure correct quality control over the concrete coloring process and work around the weather. He generated design and shaping ideas for the job to look good with the landscaping and house, and dealt with minor scope changes without hassle. One of his demolition machines damaged a section of siding and he owned up to it and paid for a contractor to do the repair. The patio ended up with an unplanned low point which necessitated the installation of a drain at that point, which Tyrone took care of at his cost.
Response from Tmw Enterprises Paving & Maintenance

"THE MEMBERS WERE GREAT TO WORK WITH ON THE STAMPED CONCRETE PROJECT. THE JOB DETAILED OF REMOVING THE EXISTING CONCRETE SIDEWALKS APRON TO THE GARAGE AND THE BACK PATIO THEN RESHAPING THE FRONT WALK AND BACK PATIO AND STAMPING IN THE DESIGNS THEY PICKED AS WELL AS THE COLORS. ONE OF THE SIDEWALK WAS A SERVICE WALK FROM THE DRIVE TO THE PATIO BETWEEN THE HOUSE AND THE GARAGE IN WITCH WAS ONLY 3 FEET WIDE AND THE EXISTING CONCRETE WAS OVERLAPPING THE WOOD SIDING OF THE GARAGE SO AFTER THE REMOVAL OF THE CONCRETE WE HAD TO WAIT ON PLACING THE CONCRETE FOR THAT WALK FOR A CARPENTER TO COME OUT AND REPLACE THE ROTTED WOOD ON THE GARAGE NOW WORKING IN TIGHT AREAS ARE NOT ALWAYS EASY SO A SLIGHT MOVEMENT THE WRONG WAY WITH THE COMPACT MIN SKIDSTEER AND YOU'RE GOING TO PUT A HOLE IN SOMETHING YOU DO NOT WANT TO (AND THAT HAD TO HAPPEN ON THE LAST FOUR FEET OF CONCRETE BEING TAKEN OUT AROUND THE GARAGE OPPS!) SO WHEN THE CARPENTER CAME OUT TO DO HIS WORK WE JUST HAD HIM TAKE CARE OF IT TO AND DEDUCT THE COST FROM THE OWNER BILL IT JUST THE RIGHT THING TO DO. NOW SINCE THE CARPENTER COULD NOT MAKE IT OUT FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND I DO NOT LIKE TO LEAVE A JOB OPEN FOR THAT LONG FOR SAFETY ISSUES AND IT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD TO THE NEIGHBORS FOR THE CONTRACTOR OR THE OWNER WE PLACE THE PATIO FRONT WALK AND THE GARAGE APRON AND THE CAME BACK A WEEK LATER TO FINISH THE SERVICE WALK WHEN I SAW THAT ONE CORNER OR THE PATIO WAS A LITTLE LOW AND WAS GOING TO HOLD SOME WATER SO WE IN STALLED A 4" DRAIN AND PIPED IT OUT TO THE CULVERT. ( I SAW THIS TO BE THE BEST SOLUTION SINCE THE PATIO HAD A DIFFERENT STAMP PATTERN THEN THE WALKS AND TO REDO JUST A SMALL SECTION WOULD RUIN THE OVER ALL LOOK THAT I SEE COULD BE AVOIDED ) A FEW MINOR ISSUES BUT WHEN HEADED WITH THE RIGHT MIND OF THINKING EVERY BODY WINS."

Tyrone and his crew did a fantastic job. Working with stamped concrete can be quite messy, but they kept that to a minimum. They cleaned up after themselves each day they were on the job. Tyrone has great ideas to help you achieve the look you want.
Response from Tmw Enterprises Paving & Maintenance

"THIS WAS A FUN AND CHALLENGING PROJECT, DO TO ELEVATION AND SLOP OF THE HILL FOR THE STEPS ON THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO MEET VILLAGE CODE SO THEY WOULD NOT HAVE TO INSTALL RAILINGS (AND WE WHERE ABLE TO MEET THAT GOAL). ALSO WORKING IN THE PATIO UNDER THE EXISTING DECK AND MATCHING UP TO THE DECK'S STAIR CASE ELEVATION VERSE THE PATIO DOOR ELEVATION AND TO MOVE WATER AWAY FROM THE HOUSE WAS A CHALLENGE. BUT WITH A LITTLE CREATIVE THINK FROM THE CREW THE HOME OWNER AND MYSELF WE WHERE ABLE TO CREATE A VERY NICE OUT DOOR LIVING SPACE AND MEET ALL ELEVATIONS JUST RIGHT."
