Honestly, not very well.
Although initial communications were fine and an appointment was scheduled for one month after my purchase (purchase date: 11/22/14, initial appointment date: 12/22/14), I received a note on the Friday (12/19) before our scheduled Monday installation that Connolley would need to reschedule. Although I responded to that note on Sunday, 12/21, trying to reschedule for a time when I was still home from work, I did not hear back from Connolley until 12/29. We were unable to find a date that worked at that time, and communications slowed for a few months. I re-initiated communications via email on 4/9/15 and received a response the same day. We scheduled the installation for 4/21, with Connolly recommending that they would bring two men and work 1/2 the day - which worked for me.
Andrew Connolley himself and an assistant arrived on time on 4/21 and I showed them the five interior doors that would need to be removed so that they could install the new ones, which I had already purchased and painted. The existing doors were hollow-core press-board that we didn't want to keep, but one of the doors had a 3/4-length mirror on the back of it that I called out and asked if they could remove and re-install on the new door in the same location. Everything seemed fine and Connolley and his assistant proceeded to remove the existing doors. Unfortunately, they forgot about the mirror and dropped and broke it when removing that particular door. Here is a comparable replacement mirror on Amazon for $87.99: http://www.amazon.com/Rectangle-Mirror-Frameless-Horizontal-Installation/dp/B00IJ116KU. Although I had purchased door knobs and hinges for the new doors, it turned out that I was short five hinges, so Connolley offered to purchase them at no cost to me to cover the loss of the mirror. I appreciated the gesture, but those five hinges could not have cost more than $15-20 including tax.
During the work both men were neat and respectful, and eventually the doors were hung and installed. When that was done and we had a chance to inspect them, it became apparent that Connolley had needed to trim edges of most of the doors in order to make them fit, leaving many edges of our painted doors now unpainted. That said, all of the doors work as expected.
Because there was still time left in our pre-paid day, there was one more item that we attempted to fit in: replacement of a worn transom in our front door. I showed the existing transom to the guys and explained that I had attempted to replace it myself, but had not been able to remove the existing transom. They said they would look into it and see if there was a way to remove it. Unfortunately, in their attempt to remove it they shattered four tiles in our front hall. They did not have time to fix that on that day, but Andrew Connolley said he would get back to me with an estimate to repair it.
To my shock, I received an estimate the next day for $515-$785 dollars to come back to fix the tile and install the transom. I can't understand why I'm being asked to pay for something that Connolley Installations broke. And, even if it is additional time for them to come out to repair it, that is time that wouldn't have been required if the tile hadn't been broken in the first place.
I would like the tile to be repaired/replaced and the transom to be installed at no additional cost.
