Despite the whirlpool tub being delivered a week late (I thought I ordered it with time to spare and then the manufacturer shipped 9 days after their estimate, so not Jim's fault), Jim and crew did as much as they could without it and the work was first rate. The tub arrived after our agreed timeframe, but they came back and prepared everything for the plasterers, who also did a first rate job. I chose to finish the room myself.

Jim was there when he said he would be there. Worked full days. I have been around other contractors for different things, and their days always seem to end early. Jim and Robbie would show up, and would stay the whole day, not leaving until 4 or 5 or later. When the day was done, they would pick up everything, sweep and leave the house in great condition. You didn't have to worry about stepping on something or getting injured.
We suffered the delay of waiting for cabinets, and then waiting for countertops. But when they would get here, Jim would be out to do the next phase of his work, as quickly as possible.
He does excellent work. My kitchen is beautiful now, and I love spending time out there.
I have already recommended him to three of my friends!

My wife and I had been wanting to remodel our kitchen for the past few years but finally decided to do it this year. We paid for a subscription to Angie's List because it was very important to get a good contractor as we were spending a lot of our hard earned money and wanted someone who was very knowledgeable and experienced. I had Jim come out and quote the job and we decided based on his reviews to go with him. Overall, we are VERY HAPPY and LOVE our new kitchen. I decided to do the demo of the old kitchen and install the new tile floor and then have Jim pick up from there. Jim was very professional and performed his job well. Our start was delayed because of unforeseen circumstances on his end, but we understood..it was just a bit disappointing having our project delayed a little. Jim was a very hard worker and subcontracted out the electrical and plaster work to his and quot;Expertsand quot;, who did a great job also. If I had to be nitpicky and say something, it would be that he could have been a tad more thorough on the very fine details. As the homeowner, during construction you tend notice every little thing and try not to sweat the very minor details...but when you are paying a lot of money to have someone perform work in your house, we expected them to work on our house like it was their house. My recommendation to him would be to make sure to spend a few minutes each day checking over things and making sure they are and quot;finishedand quot; for the day. BUT, with that being said, I made a checklist of the minor things during the button up phase of the project and Jim did an EXCELLENT job completing all the items and making sure we were happy. As far as price, I don't have a way to compare him to others because we didn't get any other quotes. I felt his quote was very fair, so that is why we chose him. I will definitely consider using him again in the future and would recommended him to my friends and family.
If you are considering a large remodel job and do not want to tackle it yourself, you can choose Jim Vance with confidence. He does quality work and always listens to and addresses your concerns. Thanks Jim!

The contractor did not return phone call for bathroom remodel. Disappointed. (not a small bathroom or job) Called another provider on list for estimate. Waiting for his estimate.

Left a message for Vance Remodeling over 3 weeks ago. Never received a call back.

They were prompt and professional. I considered using them when we wanted to remodel our kitchen. I believe they do great work but I choose another contractor because he was a little cheaper. I would use them in the future if I needed them.

The work was prompt. They were pretty neat and clean. Not difficult to deal with. I have two boxes of left over ceiling tile, about 20 panels. Did he have to buy so much? Did he calculate correctly how much he needed? Whatever, I am satisified and feel I got my money worth and no surprises.

It was a real hot summer week and still got job done in tmely manor.

My bathroom had a very bad water leak from the shower and the toilet that caused damage to the floor and laundry room below. I found Vance Remodeling on Angie's List as the contractor to seemed to have the most reviews and most of them were good. I did not previously know of anyone else who had used Vance Remodeling.
I arranged for an estimate, and Jim Vance came for the estimate appointment on schedule. I was very pleased after the appointment for the initial estimate. Jim was very personable, and seemed very knowledgeable about how to solve problems, and offered up ideas right away. I had estimates from other contractors also, but none of them seemed to have the problem-solving ability as Jim Vance.
After receiving the contract through email, I had several questions, and Jim Vance was difficult to contact. This is my only complaint about the whole experience. Working through the details of the contract was a little difficult because of this, but we finally got it worked out.
The work on the bathroom was approximately a week. Jim always showed up when he said he was going to, worked very efficiently, and always cleaned up the job site after every day. Jim had suggested the plastering on the wall instead of just re-painting the drywall. The plaster job on the wall, who was completed by another plasterer who worked with Jim, was also very good. The wall looks very professionally done, and it adds a nice touch to the overall room. I was very pleased with the quality of all of the work done in bathroom and laundry room. It has been about 6 months since the remodel and everything in the bathroom is working very well. We have received several compliments on the bathroom when we have had guests in our home.
I would highly consider Vance Remodeling for our next job.

Vance did our tiling in our kitchen and our living room. He did a pretty good job on that. Then we were going to have him finish replacing our trim and doors in our home. We had already done one room ourselves so he took a piece of trim (that was already attached in the kitchen)to match it up and told us he would have an estimate in a week. He never called back and I called him several times and left many messages telling him if he didn't have time fine, we just wanted our trim back. I never did hear back from him and now we have a bare spot in our kitchen without trim :0(.

Update:
I'm changing his grade from a C to an F. In our living room, where we put in the sub floor ourselves the tiles are fine, but in the kitchen where Vance installed it, the tiles are all cracking. He obviously didn't take the time to get it level. He also must have used cheap grout, it is all stained looking and crumbling out. Very unhappy, we are going to have to have it all replaced in the near future.

Could not get this contractor to return my call regarding getting a bid for service. I would have appreciated at least a and quot;I am completely bookedand quot; type of call.

Vance construction finished a job that was not theirs! They saved me time and money. I originally had a vanity removed out of my bathroom by another company. They took out the vanity but ran into a problem though no fault of their own.They were to re-install my vanity on but they could not make it due to an emergency they had and I would have to wait 4 more days until they could get to it. It just so happened I had booked a appt. with Vance construction to give me an estimate for my basement. I showed him my bathroom and the vanity. He and a worker came out the next day and fixed it for me. The story is a lot more complicated then this but if it were not for Vance I would not be as far along in my remodeling as I am. He gave me an estimate for remodeling my basement which I thought was very reasonable. Would hire them again!

Everything went very smoothly. Would us him again.

I phoned Jim Vance on October 4th at 8:39am. I left a voice mail message stating I had read his reviews on Angies List and was looking to have my bathroom remodeled. I left my name and number asking for a call back. On October 12th, I had not heard from him, so I phoned again. This time, I received a message that his voice mail was full and to try again later. Needless to say, I called other contractors I found on Angies list instead.

This is my fourth project I've had Vance Remodeling and Restoration do for me and by far the biggest. I had them totally remodel my kitchen; new floor, new ceiling, new walls, new cabinets, new doors, new sink, new everything. I absolutely LOVE my new kitchen and they did such an amazing job. They were here everyday at the time they said they were going to be, never a minute late. They worked non stop from the time they arrived until the time they left not even stopping for a lunch break. I had been putting off remodeling my kitchen because I didn't want the mess. Everyday they would clean up every little scrap and every piece of dirt and used the shop vac with hepa filter during the whole project to keep the dust down. What more could a girl want. I have a list of projects I would like to do and I wouldn't hire anyone else. Vance Remodeling and Restoration did an amazing job on my kitchen. I highly recommend them. They are honest, trustworthy and dependable. Jim, It's always a pleasure working with you on my projects. . I originally found Vance Remodeling and Restoration through Angie's List because I had a terrible experience with a previous contractor. I'm so happy they have a service out there like Angie's List. This is my third job I've had Vance Remodeling and Restoration do for me. He is definitely my go to guy for any projects I want to do. Vance Remodeling and Restoration refinished my handicap ramp, pressure washed my house and driveway. The day they came was probably the hottest day in July but they were here. I think temperatures got up to 105 the days they were here. I felt so sorry for them but never heard them once complain about anything. I would go out and check on them and offer a bottle of water and I could stand it about five minutes. They did a wonderful job and just a real pleasure to work with. The ramp turned out great and looks brand new and they even added some spindles to add to it. I would definitely use Vance Remodeling and Restoration again and have. Jim Vance made the experience work for us. He was punctual every morning, left at a reasonable hour every day. He worked hard and didn't disturb our daily lives. At the same time, he is engaging, knowledgeable and a pleasure to have around. The first order of work was to remove a built in shower/tub enclosure. The unit was too large to remove through our doors, and had to be made into smaller units. The walls were rough having been behind the enclosure, and needed to be sealed and prepared for the tile. Jim mounted a larger mosaic perfectly positioned in the center of the primary wall facing the door. Around the mosaic he put accent tiles. Then he put tiles on the 10' walls, around a window, making corrections to existing plumbing to fit the new hardware. He was under the house in the crawl space examining plumbing, and even discovered some unrelated problems, which he fixed for us. The caregiver doors were put in along with the mullen. There are too many small details to list. Every detail was excellently taken care of. The photos of the finished room will prove his expertise. Jim is an excellent carpenter. He's diligent and maticulate. You can be sure that you will not find a better craftsman in our area.
Unfortunately I do not see a way to upload the before and after photos. It will be a shame if I can't share these. The finished project is a marvel to see.

It did not go at all because Mr. Vance did not show up to give the estimates.

They did a good job and did the finishing part meaning cleaning up and making sure everything was right. The next time I would just make sure to find a little better on what they are going it again.

He did all his measurements and stuff. I think he made an accurate quote compared to others. I am satisfied with the quality of the quote.
