Excellent job. I did not have time to get bids on this job because we were without water coming into the house. I thought $913.00 was a little high but Cole had to go by the price list the company set for these type of services. I called Lifeline and talked to Scott and he got back to me right away and said someone would be out in the morning. Cole Hoschouer was the plumber that came out to do the repairs, he was great, I would highly recommend this company for any plumbing work in the future.
Description of Work: replaced 1inch gate valve on street side and 1inch valve on house side near the water meter coming into our home. Cole Hoschouer was the plumber for Lifeline and he was the best plumber I have ever had do work for us. He explained everything he was doing and was very neat and clean. He had shoe covers during the whole process. He also put everything back into place and even brought the garbage I had collected before he arrived upstairs and put it into our garbage bin.

Steve Schneider first responded promptly to an Angie's List message, both by email and phone. We made an appointment that wasn't too far in the future, and Steve reported promptly. He promised a three-hour window and a call when he was on the way; he did call and hit the end of the window. Steve was very thorough in explaining the water heater maintenance -- everything you could possibly want to know (like, the three types of iron!). He performed the draining of the heater and otherwise inspected it, and we even figured out how to tell how old the water heater was. It is 8 or 9 years old, reaching a typical life span, but he did not suggest replacing the water heater at all and said it's doing well. An inspection around the house of the plumbing yielded loose valves and pipes under the kitchen sink, and Steve quickly fixed that -- and explained it to me, of course. We finally have hot water running out of the kitchen sink at about the same pace as the cold water -- despite a previous plumbing company's inspection a couple of years before! A valve had been stuck. That was all for $55, a good price. If I'm right in remembering the usual price at $99, that's probably about the right price for this service, if a tad high. I could easily see paying $75 for it. The real reason I had Steve out was to give me a quote for replacing the outside sewer line. A previous plumbing company had been recommending it for years, and I braced for the big quote. To my surprise, Steve so far is not suggesting replacing the sewer line but is instead recommending "hydrojetting" with RootX treatment. He quoted me $1,432. My research shows that's on the high side but not unprecedented. It appears I'd be getting more thorough service for the money, compared to other companies. And this is certainly less expensive than a $4,000 sewer-line replacement. There is some risk that I'll have to spend the $1,400 every two years or even one year, and that would quickly make the savings moot. But there's also a chance that I can go three or four years without a further cleaning, and then the savings might be worth it, at least when you consider the next five years. Steve again thoroughly explained the sewer line inspection as we watched the video of it together. I've had video inspections done before, but this was definitely the most thorough and professional. Steve comes well-dressed, all clean-shaven and such, and can communicate effectively with a customer -- and then do the work. No intimidation or sketchiness. Should a video inspection cost $154? Especially for a quote that can yield hundreds of dollars if not thousands in work? I'm skeptical. Be that as it may, I plan to do the hydrojetting. I'll try it out, then Steve at the end will do another video inspection that day, he says, to make sure the pipe indeed is not too shifted or uneven -- video inspection included in the price. If all is good, we'll inspect again next year to see how well this super cleaning worked. Sounds like a plan.

I have been really happy with them and they are doing some more work for me. They are very responsible and very professional. The guy who came out answered all questions and then I anticipating some work done by them. He gave me options like if you want to spend this kind of money this is the option, this is another option think about it and look at it and let us know that kind of thing. There was no charge.

Two issues reported to Lifeline: 1) water coming out of pipe within water closet, overflowing onto our wood floors 2) kitchen sink filling up with water whenever water drained during the washer's rinse cycle. During the first visit, Corey came out. Very nice guy and quite knowledgeable. Listed all our plumbing issues and gave his recommendation as to which to address first. Corey recommended that we create an access point to the sewer line. He planned to guide a camera through the access point to find any blockages. Corey prioritized our needs and scheduled the work the very next day. We appreciated this. He and his apprentice put in a long day, Overall I was satisfied with their work. They went through the proper channels getting permits and having their work approved by the village. Only two issues: 1) Later found out that we already had an access point. to the sewer line. Unfortunately, we discovered this too late. The original access point was only 4" in diameter and too close to the house. It should have been created with a 6" diameter and further away from the house (per Corey). However, had I known there was already an access point (inadequate as it was), I would not have prioritized the work effort. In other words, we probably did not need to spend as much $ as we did that day. However, to be fair, it wasn't Corey's fault... we did not know our home (recently purchased). 2) When they were in the process of creating the access point, they cut into the wrong pipe - our sump pump line vs. the sewer line. They did repair the pipe. No blockages were found in the section of the sewer line outside of our home. Corey then came inside our home and rodded the sewer line starting from the point where the water was overflowing. He was able to improve the situation but the pipes would still overflow when we used too much water from different sources. We planned for a third visit. The following Friday, it was Evan and Anthony who came by. I was disappointed at first that Lifeline sent someone other than Corey (as Corey already knew the bones of our home). However, the customer service agent (Michael?) was very apologetic and explained that Corey was held up on another project that was severe in nature. I have to say that I was quite impressed with Evan's work. Evan was a supervisor which was apparent due to his extensive knowledge and excellent customer service skills. He and Anthony (Evan's apprentice) put in a very long day as well. Evan worked relentlessly until he was able to find the blockages and clear them. Evan also 'hydro-jetted" our pipes. He took the time to explain what he was doing every step of the way (he even drew me a picture). Although they ended up staying longer than expected, they honored the original quote for the work. Evan also secured some loose pipes behind my washer that were improperly installed by the previous owners of the home (or their contractors). A+ work.
Description of Work: Added an external access point to the sewer line. Used a camera to assess any blockages. Rodded inside sewer lines. Cleared blockages.

They called to tell they were coming. Tim looked at the sump pump and suggested that they usually change a flipper valve or something at the same time. He explained why and how it works. He didn't pressure me to get it and installed the new sump pump. He also shared what to expect; more running with the new pump. He shared other things that he could help with replacing a vanity when needed and other items like heating and air. Tim was very nice and got the work done quick.

It took about 15-minutes for the Lifeline plumber to check my sump pump... After inspection he told me that my pit needed cleaning and that I should replace the pump because it was original equipment to my home. It was my intention to replace the pump (it's 15+ years old) and upgrade to a secondary pump with a battery back-up system, and this is why I called an expert to inspect my current primary only pump. I was loosely quoted a cost of ~$2,300 for a complete ION Products primary/backup with battery and intelligent control unit setup, and I will say they do an excellent job at selling pumps in general... I was not prepared to spend $2,300 for a complete system, but I was about to pull the trigger on an ION StormPro WC-33i 1/3 HP primary pump (no secondary or battery back-up) from Lifeline when I was hit with (what I felt was) an amazingly high price tag of $640, but since I was an "Angie's List" customer I would receive a 20% off discount, which brought it down to $530. I was also told that I could only get the ION StormPro WC-33i pump through an authorized dealer like themselves because it was a commercial grade device which was being targeted at residential. Well thank goodness for Google... I went online and found that I could buy the exact pump being offered for $219. When I inquired why I was being charged SO much, I was told I needed to speak with the plumbers supervisor to work out a better deal. I spoke to the supervisor and he told me that there is more to the cost other than just the parts, for which I COMPLETELY understand. My main issues revolves around the simplicity of putting in a new sump pump and that I'm scratching my head trying to understand how an hours worth of labor (if that) makes up the additional $300 they are charging me. I told them that I would be willing to purchase the pump and their service, but for a much lower and reasonable amount than what they wanted to charge me. Additionally, this same company has another Angie's List deal listed for a new 1/3 HP pump installed with warranty for $296... This was never mentioned to me as an option when I was trying to get a lower price for their product/services. In the end I told them to close up my sump pit and that I would take care of replacing the pump myself. The very next morning I went to Home Depot and purchased a Primary/Backup 1/2 HP combo pump and battery back-up for all of $600 and an hour later had it installed. $600 is a FAR CRY from the ~$2,300 price tag I was loosely given for a similar setup by Lifeline. In the end and if you can, you're probably better off doing a sump pump replacement yourself... You'll get what you asked for and at a fraction of the cost. I really do not like being so critical in a publicly viewed review, but I really feel that may have been trying to take advantage of us and this information should be shared. Who knows it may be a one-off situation, but I would definitely have Google ready to check them on costs for your own self assurance.

Dear member, Thank you for your feedback. I know your experience was not what you wanted, but I’m glad to hear you found what you were looking for, and were able to put them in yourself! It went real good. They did a good job. It was a rental property and my tenant never complained so I guess that was good service. I haven’t been out there. They were very professional. They were good. I think the ad was a little deceiving. I know that there was an issue where we end up having to call them. Overall, I think they did a good job. I read two hours of service or something and we end up having to pay quite a bit out of pocket after that. I’m still happy with the service.

Just as they promised, someone called between 8 and 9 to let me know what time they would be here. Steve called and let me know he would stop to pick up the village permit first. When he got here, he went right to work. He answered every one of my questions. He carefully explained what he would be doing. He didn't waste any time but carefully did what he said he would do. He took my old water heater away, a plus. When the new one was installed, he very carefully checked and rechecked everything, so I felt very comfortable. He wore those blue 'booties' to keep the carpeting clean. He cleaned up everything--neat and tidy. He bled the faucets to get the air out of the pipes. By the time he left the water was already getting warm. I was very impressed with Steve. I will definitely call Lifeline again and will recommend them to my friends.

We wanted an estimate for installation of filtration and a distiller. Steve went into great detail as to what work we might need and what the options were. He recommended installation of an outlet on it's own breaker for the distiller so that it wouldn't cause any issues with pumps that are on the other circuits if the distiller were to cause the breaker to trip. He also suggested that we get our water tested to determine hardness as a water softener may also be required. At this time, we have not yet had any plumbing work completed. We will definitely contact Steve when we are ready to have our systems installed.

Extremely professional technician (Steve). Steve was very knowledgeable and nice: he knew the sump pumps inside out and gave me a lot of details about the advantages and benefits of some pumps over others. He took great care in his work and did a meticulous job. It took him about 3 hours to complete the job. Steve also made sure everything was cleaned before he left. I ended up upgrading to a higher quality sump pump than the one I was originally planning to get installed. I highly recommend Lifeline Plumbing to anyone looking for a good plumber. I will certainly use them again in the future. This was my first experience hiring someone I found on Angie's list and I look forward to looking for more great service providers!

Steve called before he was to arrive, and was here right at the beginning of the time window. He was very easy going, a man with principles, and viewed all my plumbing areas to review what issues might be problematic in our house. Then he explained what he felt needed immediate service, and brought the complete price list to my attention. We decided to deal with the kitchen faucet/disposal issue first, and that was the absolute best way to proceed. During the time Steve was reviewing and then fixing the most significant problems, he remained personable and detailed in describing just what he was doing. After finishing, Steve ran the proper tests on the sink disposal, and explained to me what he was testing and why. He gave me the paperwork, verified the prices were proper and correct, and then validated my payment. Steve is a top notch professional plumber with manners and a very pleasant personality. I plan to use Steve for other plumbing problems, and have no reservations in recommending him highly to Angie's List members!
Description of Work: Steve Schneider from Lifeline Plumbing was prompt and friendly, walked me through the details, and performed his work completely while filling me in on the details. What they did was the exact opposite of fix things. He basically only spent all the time trying to send me more stuff and then ruined what I had before. He gave me a list for over $2000 worth of things with charges like $159 just to put a wrench on an outside faucet. The charges he put on this estimate were absurd.
