After getting off to a late start (I was kept informed of the delay), Kevin determined that my 19 year old original toilet was beyond a "Tune-Up", the service originally scheduled, and would require a internal rebuild in order to function properly. After completion of this repair I asked Kevin if he could look into a dripping shower head in my master bath. A close examination determined that a previous repair was failing. I agreed to have repairs made, and in addition, I asked Kevin to install a new faucet and drain assembly in my powder room. Work was completed in a professional fashion in a very reasonable amount of time I'm very pleased with the work done.
It turned out good. I don't remember the exact cost we paid. Their work was good. They cleaned up after themselves, very professional and knowledgeable. I would use them again in the future.

The plumber initially thought the issue was the flapper. He tried putting in a new one. It turned out I either had to replace the toilet with a new one or he could rebuid it immediately. I choose the rebuild which was accomplished quickly. The rebuild corrected the issue. The plumber was courteous and informational. He arrived within the time prearranged slot. Although the visit cost an additional $300 over the initial $55 I did not feel as though I was taken advantage of for the extra $300. I would use Lifeline Plumbing again.

Have been having trouble with the pressure and handle getting stuck. So I purchased a $49 toilet tune up. Greg showed up on time was friendly. After looking at the toilet he said the only way to get better pressure was to replace the toilet. So now my $49 tune up went to $578. As he was removing the unit the flange broke, add on another $125. Instead of a elongated stool like we had we have round one which isn't a real problem. Maybe other Angies List members can help with my review. I just feel I was overcharged maybe I wasn't . The toilet does work better. Here's the breakdown. Purchased $49 toilet tune up. Installing Viper toilet $578 Minus $49 for original coupon purchase Add on $125 for broken flange Was given a 20% discount With everything added and subtracted was given bill for $548.00. I looked on line at these toilets and average is $200, not sure about a flange. Was I overcharged or is this about right for a toilet install.

Great! Mike was on time and very professional. The only slight glitch is that one of the toilets is now making intermittent noises. I believe the water runs for 2-3 seconds to cause the noise. I will call them as soon as I finish this review. I am sure the problem will be taken care of immediately with a minor adjustment.

Greg showed up in the early part of the window we were given. I especially appreciated that he called ahead to let me know he was on his way. Once at the house, he quickly looked over the toilet we had wanted him to look at and noted what needed to be changed out. He did also provide an estimate on some additional work that we may have done in the future (replacing a toilet in our other bathroom, replacing a water heater). I didn't initially ask for the estimates, so I will say they were definitely fishing for more work...which I don't have a problem with, and since he simply estimated costs rather than trying to convince me the work needed to be done "right away", I don't feel like he was laying the sales pitch on too thick. Overall, a great experience, and well worth the price paid for the "deal". I'll definitely call on LIfeline again for any plumming issues, and would at the very least ask for an estimate for heating/cooling work if we end up looking for any work on that front.
Description of Work: Purchased the toilet tune up "Big Deal" advertised by Angie's List. Work consisted of changing out some parts on one of our toilets and tightening the bolts fastening it to the floor.

From the initial call to the end of service, everything was great. They were able to come out the same day I called. The plumber who performed the work was nice, professional and did great work. A new water heater was due to replace a 17 year old one and it was installed the same day. He also fixed a leaky bathtub and toilet that had several issues. He was very thorough as well, making sure to clean up after himself and made sure everything coming in the house and leaving did not cause a mess.

Provider scheduled an appointment for a free repair estimate within a 3 hour window, but failed to show up within the window or call to let me know that he would be a little late. I was flexible on the appointment time, but I didn't like that I had to call to find out if he was still coming. Once at my house, he diagnosed the problem as a broken faucet due to corrosion requiring a a moderate repair and substantial cost. He diagnosed the root cause of the problem as being hard water and recommended that we discuss an even larger cost to treat that problem at a later date. Once he left, I realized that he hadn't even taken a look at the point of the leak - the tape that I used to try to slow the leak was still in place. Since this was such a large expense to me, I called another plumber for a second opinion. The second provider fixed the problem with a $10 part in less than 15 minutes without any attempt to upsell or overcharge.
Description of Work: Provider offered a free estimate to repair a leaky sink. The serviceman showed up late to the appointment, estimated that the repair would cost $800 and would probably require an even greater expense to fix the root cause of the problem not too far down the road.

I called on Friday, July 5th - day after a holiday. A real person answered and told me someone could be out on Monday. Worked around my schedule and said someone would be out Monday after 6:30 pm. Mike called me around 6:20 and was at my house by 6:30. He was very professional, put on booties, asked if he could let himself back in after getting supplies, cleaned up and even put things back under the sink when he was finished. Wow! He explained to me what he could do and how he could find out what the problem was. Gave me a final dollar amount and got to work. He was very friendly and answered any of my questions. Turns out the "installer" installed the hose backward. Mike detailed everything he did and told me to contact the installer and let them know. I am planning on using Lifeline again for a bathroom remodel. Thank you!

Well - the experience of basement flooding was awful, but Tyler was fantastic - calm, clear, proactive and great to work with.. He discovered that the two sump pumps had not failed - but that the cap from the pipe coming from the city's water pipe had cracked off due to pressure from the storm waters. It happened to MANY people in Skokie (disastrous). He repaired the pipe temporarily (because of custom pipe size), installed a new sump in exchange for the 2nd one - which was old, and needed a change, then made an appt to return when the part came in for the pipe repair. He came back promptly with the parts, and before repairing, put a telescope down the pipe and discovered it had become separated from the city pipe - so we made plans to rectify THAT as well. He repaired the pipe beautifully, and scheduled the repair for the pipeline which included having utilities marked, etc. It was an unexpected cost, on top of the disaster of the basement flooding, and handled swiftly and professionally. The pipeline repair went well - and was completed promptly. While water mitigation company was here - cracks in foundation were discovered, and Tyler helped a**** and referred us to a great company to get THAT work done: Quick's Structural Repair. Braden - AND Campell AND John AND Braden's brother - were fantastic to work with, and in wave after wave of storms that followed, no water has seeped into our basement......which is still in the repair state. Drywall is being installed as I write. Back to Tyler and Lifeline: Besides being a great plumber who thinks globally and wholistically, Tyler is one of the pleasantest people I've ever met. In fact, everyone who works with and for him are blessed with that feature.- Jenny, Mike, et al.They are there to help! They even checked up on us after services were completed, to make sure everything was fine and that there were no additional problems. I found Tyler through Angie's list last year, when he replaced two sump pumps. Then, as with this encounter, the service exceeded our expectations. I will continue to use and recommend this perfectly named company - Lifeline.
Description of Work: Initially came out after huge storm of the century in mid-April (another one), at my request to check the sump pumps, one of which was installed within the year by Lifeline. Ended up repairing broken water pipe and replacing outside pipe.

We declined to use this plumber & selected another from Angie's List. This price quoted was exorbitant for this product & for the services. The install price for a toilet like this is approx. $585. (This is not a cheap toilet, & it is literally a workhorse with great ratings.) We know because we had 5 of this exact toilet installed at different times between 2 different properties.

Day 1 Mike and his apprentice, Eric, arrived on time to replace our old, leaking, water heater. Both were very friendly and professional. I asked Mike about higher efficiency water heaters or even a tankless water heater. Rather than the more expensive equipment, Mike seemed to be only interested in selling me what he had on his truck ? a Bradford White, 6 year warranty heater. Given that our current water heater was a 6 year Bradford White (which lasted 12 years), I was OK with going with what he brought with. I did ask about having a safety pan being added. Mike also pointed out that the expansion tank was full of water and needed to be replaced. The pan and the tank added $250 to the job. I contend that this is a little pricey for an 'add-on' job. I found the exact expansion tank for $35 retail and the safety pan for $20. Which means installation was $200. Installing a drip pan consists of laying it on the floor and running an 18 inch piece of PVC pipe to the floor drain. Replacing an expansion tank is comparable to replacing a light bulb. Unscrew the old one, pump the new one up and screw it in. 15 minutes of additional work. Day 2 Being the paranoid type, I go downstairs the next night to check on the water heater. Much to my dismay, there is water all over the floor. Water is running out of the bottom of the brand new heater and then leaking out of the safety pan. To their credit, Eric came out at 11:00 pm (no charge) to fix the problems. The water heater leak turned out to be a mangled black gasket in the dielectric union. They assured me that the water heater's insulation being completely saturated would have no adverse effect on the heater after it dries out. Eric also fixed the connection of the pipe to the safety pan ? water was leaking out of the connection before it could reach the pipe. Day 3 Again, being paranoid, I went downstairs to check for leaks. This time I noticed a strong burning paint or plastic smell. Looking around, I found that the water heater vent was angled slightly downwards from the heater to the chimney. Hot gasses like to go UP, so this was probably not good. The new heater is a few inches taller than the old one. Enough to reverse the pitch. Rather than calling Lifeline out a third time, I took a pair of tin snips and cut a few inches off the vent pipe. It was a few minutes of work (less time than it would take for Lifeline to arrive). Conclusion I seem to be in the distinct minority of Lifeline reviews. Maybe I am hyper-critical. Maybe Mike had an off-day. Perhaps I should have stuck with Lifeline's core competencies ? leaky pipes, clogged drains, sump pumps. Water heaters are pretty far down on their list of services. Take this review for what it's worth. Personally, I think I will try someone else the next time I need plumbing services.

I called around 8am, someone actually answered the phone and was very helpful, and Mike arrived by 10 to give an estimate. Given the cost of repairs and maintenance, I decided on a new unit. He asked the shop to bring one over, and they did quickly. It was installed and all areas cleaned up by 1:30. Much care was taken to protect my carpeting since it needed to go upstairs to the laundry room. Mike was extremely informative, pleasant and polite. I will definitely use them again for plumbing and furnace needs.

Our Lifeline plumbers were very professional and quick. We just purchased a home that needed quite a bit of plumbing work. Two Lifeline plumbers were able to come out on a date and time that worked with our schedule on a Sunday morning (Father's Day to boot) to take a look at the plumbing. For the estimate, they gave us quite a few options based on different price points and took the time to explain each option thoroughly. They were courteous, very easy to talk to, and made us feel very comfortable with the work. They were able to come back the following weekend and finished all of the work in one day. We would happily recommend Lifeline to anyone needing any type of plumbing work.

I did have an Angie’s List coupon. They offered a coupon or discount for Angie’s List members. I would use them again, and he noticed I had some other piping there that was not really up to code, and he fixed that for me. So, I was real happy. It was good.
