Thanks again to Fire 'n Ice. Our A/C died overnight and they were able to come out within a few hours this morning. A capacitor died and thankfully they had the part on the truck and it was going again in under 30 minutes. We've been using F&I for almost 4 years now since another local authorized Carrier dealer tried to scam us by causing a problem during a routine cleaning, then refusing to repair it under the Carrier warranty and claiming they had to replace our new A/C unit and upgrade our duct work to fix it. We had F&I come out for a second opinion. They changed a setting and made a couple recommendations to improve airflow and we haven't had a single problem until now. Only downside is that the annual checkups seem a bit higher than average and this service call was $250. Granted it was Saturday afternoon, but $150 to show up and $50 per 15 minutes for a simple repair can add up fast even when the parts are covered under warranty. Will still use again because the technicians have been top notch and appointments handled quickly.

Fire and Ice came out to quote the work. Another customer cancelled and they called us to see if we wanted to take advantage of extra discounts due to he cancellation and schedule our work for the next day. The team was prompt and professional. Work was completed by 5pm and we received extra savings for taking the cancelled appointment. They also filed all the rebate paperwork for us. We would highly recommend.

From the initial call to the completion of the installation, this was a very positive experience. When their salesman, Jim first came out, he did a complete analysis of our home. He asked us about concerns we had with our existing system. He spent over an hour and a half at our home. He explained all the different equipment options and their unique benefits. The next day he provided us three detailed proposals for the different options. He helped us decide on the best option based on our concerns with our current system. The best news was their price was competitive with the other bids we received. The other two companies we received proposals from spent at most a 20 minutes at our home. Neither of them performed a detailed analysis of our home like Jim did.

The installation was scheduled at a time that was at our convenience. Mike from their office communicated with us to confirm the installation date and time. Their installation team (Kris and Dan) arrived right on time. Since I am retired, I was able to view the entire process. They laid down drop cloths to protect our hardwood floors and carpeting. They answered all of my questions during the installation. They explained the operation of the new system and thermostat at the end of the day. I feel like I received a HVAC crash course as a result. They did an outstanding job. We have had an opportunity to run the heat and the AC. The new system solved all the issues we had with our old system.

Their office took care of registering all of the equipment for warranty purposes and provided me the confirmation documentation from Carrier. They also took care of filing all rebate paperwork. We could not be more pleased with this company. This by far was the most positive experience we have ever had with any contractor performing work in our home.

Sold me A/C which we later discovered was already 6 years old unit. When it iced up, Fire N Ice accepted no responsibility even though it was installed less than two years ago.  I was told by a service employee that it was probably low on Freon which should be added yearly.  Four companies with estimates later all said the same thing: that I was told a lie and the unit should never need Freon added.  I also needed to replace a damper which another company quoted me at $475 but FIre N Ice charged me $800 for the other damper three years ago after a $300 service call prior.  Over-priced, rude, and flat out untrustworthy.

So far, so good.  No errors, malfunctions or other issues in over a month now.  $30 per 15 minutes after a $90 service call seems a little steep, but the other service wanted almost $10,000 to fix the issues on a nearly new system, so it was very much worth it for a second opinion.  The technician Kris seemed to be more familiar with the Carrier system than the techs from the other service as well.  I intend to use Fire N Ice for routine maintenance now as well.  Thank you!

From initial phone call to job completion these guys did a fantastic job.  We have rarely found contractors of any kind that have as much pride in what they do as the crew from Fire N Ice.  Kris explained how everything worked.  He and DJ are stand-outs.

We called on Wednesday and they had Jim Michalek Jr. out the same day to give us an estimate and talk over the differences in the offered equipment. (Carrier).  They were out by 7:30 AM the next morning to do the work.  Their work was actually better than the original equipment installation done when the house was built.  We were very happy to have the work done because we immediately had 90 degree plus, very humid days.

The cost will be less after several rebates, they even fill out the rebate forms and send them in!  Outstanding!

Tony came out same day we called for service.  He was very professional and explained the diagnostics step-by-step.  Since our unit had ice build up, we suspected the cost for service was going to be hefty.  Tony ran test for leaks and were glad to hear unit just needed refrigerant.  After repair was complete, it only took 10 minutes before the condo unit was nice and cool.

The overall experience with Fire 'N' Ice, Inc. was excellent. From the beginning of the process with their sales person (Jim) who came out to look at our existing equipment, to the price we were quoted, to the installation (Kris) of all the new equipment -- we were and are very pleased.  Their focus on customer service (starting with the office staff, to the sales person and installer) made the experience even better.  We ended up getting even more new sheet metal than what was originally planned with the change out, but they did not waiver from their original quoted price.  The installation is very clean and professional looking, and we were amazed with how efficient the one-person installation was.  We've now had the new furnace for 2 weeks and we are very happy with its performance and efficiency.  We are extremely satisfied with our overall experience with this contractor and definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for heating & cooling repair or installation.

Excellent Service A+
- Originally had Fire an Ice do an estimate for a new furnace on 12/16 since my furnace is 20 years old
- Provided a competitive estimate that only one other company was willing to match
- Wrote down a detailed estimate that fully explained the services performed and warranty included
- Person who did the estimate was quick to respond to my phone call and was on time for his appointment
In the end I decided to try and squeeze another year out of my furnace, which was a mistake.  On 2/4/13 I smelled burning plastic coming from my furnace and my blower motor went out.
- I called Fire and Ice @ 7PM on Monday Night and asked if they would honor the estimate which was past 30 days...The DID!
- I asked if they could come to my house first thing in the morning to install because my furnace was down...They DID and were early!
- Installer was professional and very courteous, explaining the instillation process and answered all of my questions during
- Installer fixed an minor issue with my Aprilaire 600 that was not part of the original quote and did not charge me..GREAT SERVICE.
- Cleaned up some of the work of the previous company on my drainage, great attention to detail!
- The time frame to complete the job was exactly as estimated
- I appreciated the fact he explained some of the newer features of my furnace...a lot has changed in 20 years :)
- Took the necessary steps to cover floors during the install process and cleaned up after work completed
I will admit I do read all the horror stories working with Heating and Cooling companies, and have experienced a few of my own a while back, but given the fact that they were competitively priced, were able to do my job in less than 24 hours of request, were prompt and professional, I have nothing to complain about and was very pleased overall with the level and quality of service delivered.  I would highly recommend!

Response from Fire 'n' Ice Heating & Cooling, Inc.

"It is unfortunate we could not provide an estimate after talking with you several times. You initially called asking for us to give an estimate at your son's house. You provided his cell phone number, which we called multiple times and left multiple voicemails for him. We never heard back from your son. When you called back, wondering why we had not given him an estimate, we informed you that he had never called us back. You then provided your daughter-in-law's cell phone number, which we promptly called. That call went to voicemail - we left a message, but never head back. Again, it is unfortunate you were not satisfied, but we did make a generous effort to contact both your son and daughter-in-law."

The repairman called in and pretty much relayed what was told by manager which was to buy a new furnace. Salesman came out same day, gave me an estimate and said they could start the next day.  Called another company to get a quote for comparison. The salesman took one look at the furnace, pushed a reset button and the furnace went on.
