He did a really nice job and he produced more than 1 copy. He’s very professional, he’s willing to work with you and I am completely satisfied with it.
Description of Work: I had a video duplication done by Chamberlain Restoration. He made an 8 millimeter DVD transferred to 16 millimeter DVD.

Not good! I would steer clear of this business, BTW Chamberlain Restoration is the same place as A Chamberlain Photo & Video and A Chamberlain Photography & Video. Mr. Chamberlain is a scam artist who plays dumb, but he always returns to this phrase "I performed a service". His justification for the over priced work that is not worth the money. Mr. Chamberlain brought up McDonalds, why you ask. He said that you could return the food after you eat it. First, food and photos have nothing in common. And no one with a sound mind would eat a hamburger and try to return it. I could take a few bites and return it if there was something wrong. Anyway, using his McDonalds thought; I bought an expensive steak from Mr. Chamberlain and he in return gave me a McDonalds hamburger. On January 4, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. I met with Mr. Chamberlain with my photos. My son was present at this time and heard everything and has agreed with my statements about what Mr. Chamberlain did say and not say. My son heard Mr. Chamberlain as I did. Mr. Chamberlain stated that the scanning and levels (he did NOT explain this term) would be free of charge. He did NOT state anything else about me being able to view the work, okay the work and make the last payment. He did not display any before and after photo samples for me to view, there were only things he had on his wall, which I question he did. Mr. Chamberlain did state something about people wanting their work done immediately and this being a problem for him. I told him ?I was in no hurry?. I received an email at 4:14 pm on Friday, which surprised me, it stated "Please find invoice #I1614 attached to this email. Your project is in progress. As a reminder, personal or business checks will take 10 business days to process prior to shipment or pick up. A certified check or money order will process immediately for shipment or pick up upon completion of the project. We will watch for your payment to arrive and process accordingly. Thank you and enjoy your day! Pam/Emily Studio Assistants Total Balance Due : $184.65" The invoice was attached to the email. This email made me nervous that people were not happy with Mr. Chamberlains work due to it sounding like he wanted all the money up front before you would have the work completed. I sent an email back Friday, January 4, 2013 at 5:10 p.m. stating ?Hi Pam or Emily, I live in (suburb near you), so I will bring the payment when you have finished? I gave a $200 dollar deposit already. I thought the balance due, was upon completion? Thank you?. I sent another email on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:23 p.m. "Pam/Emily Ok, this is making me nervous now. I would like to talk to Mark and just do enough prints so I am around $200 dollars. I would like to look at the finished product before I do any more (spend more money). I am thinking you will complete the 8x10 photo that is requiring the most money. From there, Mark told me the others are $25.00 a piece. That would give me 2 more pictures and then I would owe you more money for taxes. I believe the expensize one was $147.00, add 2 more pictures for $50.00 that would put me at $197.00. I already gave you $200.00 in cash. I have never worked with people that require all the money upfront before I can see the end result. Please get back to me". No one responded. According to Mr. Chamberlain, someone was in the office scanning photos on Saturday. Why were my concerns not addressed? On Monday January 7, 2013 I saw this email come in at 9:09 a.m., it states, I quote ?Chamberlain Restoration 6900 Main St. Suite 140 Downers Grove, IL 60516 1-800-950-0301 630-963-7200 www.chamberlainrestoration.com Hello Yes, you are correct. Since you are local you can pay upon picking up via cash, money order, or cashiers check. Thank you and enjoy your day. Sincerely, Emily/Pam Studio Assistants 1-800-950-0301? The reply email response contained nothing about my concerns. I then called Mr. Chamberlain after this and stated my concern about his work and that I didn't want to proceed with the full amount. He took the invoice number from me and stated he wasn't in the office and that he would call me later. He did NOT call until 2:23 p.m. on Monday and told me that the prints were being printed. He didn?t say it in these words but I heard you have to pay it all, I can?t stop it. How did all this happen from Friday at 2:30 p.m. to Monday at 9:15 a.m.? Mr. Chamberlain offered no explanation. Also if I received the email at 9:09 a.m. how were the prints not stopped, someone had to okay the prints because I had not paid in full yet? Who ever saw my emails knew I wanted to stop. I was puzzled by this statement on his invoice it clearly states ?"Prints will not be ordered until final payment has been received. Prints can take up to 2 weeks to come in. Orders paid by certified check or money order will ship or be ready for pick up upon completion of project. Personal or business checks take 10 business days to process prior to shipment or pick up. We do not accept credit or debit cards. An additional 18% will be added to all balanced over 60 days. Payments : 01-04-2013 - Cash - $200.00?." This invoice statement contradicts what happened. I had NOT made a final payment. I was also nervous that all correspondence via email did not have a trail of our conversations. They would strip out my questions/concerns or they were starting a new email and they would ignore what I was asking. Mr. Chamberlain also assured me on Monday morning that he hadn?t had any problems with other customers due to his work. That is false; he has complaints listed with BBB and also with yelp, ripoffreport, (all on the internet) etc. I did the research after I started getting these signals that something wasn?t right. On Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 4:04 p.m., I was given a phone call from a woman and was told that everything was done. This was too late for me to get there before they closed. I went on Thursday morning, January 10, 2013 and got there when they opened at 9am to pick them up. I looked at the completed work and told her that I wasn't happy with the work. This pregnant assistant who did not offer a name when I came in changed her demeanor when I stated I wasn?t happy. She stated that Mr. Chamberlain is the only one who could do anything. He wasn't there. I went home typed up and email to Mr. Chamberlain and sent copies of the photos that I created at home with some ArcSoft software so he could compare my photo with his, to see his work was substandard for the cost. I sent an email to Mr. Chamberlain on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 10:21 a.m. The phone call from Mr. Chamberlain came on January 10, 2013 at 4:10 p.m. in response to my email. Mr. Chamberlain tried to tell me that he told me exactly what he was doing. This is false. I also told him that I wasn't happy with the results. He talked in circles. So I asked for the bottom line. He stated that I paid for a service. He did not offer to reprint or to do anything, only to tell me that I paid for a service. I could tell that Mr. Chamberlain was not going to do anything and that it was a waste of time talking to him. The conversation had a long silence and I hung up, there was nothing left for me to say. This is the last time I have spoken to Mr. Chamberlain. I did send another email to Mr. Chamberlain on Saturday, January 11, 2013 at 9:34 a.m., telling him that I saw all the negative comments on the internet and that I would be contacting the BBB and anyone else who may listen to me. Please note, the BBB complaint that I started. Some of Mr. Chamberlain?s responses were lies. He stated ?She was happy with everything & she paid us the final balance of $184.65 & left?. I stated the opposite ?I am NOT happy? and I said this more than once to the pregnant woman who was waiting on me. I paid the money because I did not know what else to do, I did not want to allow these people to hold my pictures hostage or as leverage. Plus two of these photos were not mine, I am responsible for them. Mr. Chamberlain stated that I hung up on him on January 10, 2013, as I stated the conversation was going nowhere and there was nothing left for me to say, I hung up without saying goodbye. Mr. Chamberlain states ?J became furious & screaming at me she was going to sue me & call the BBB if I did not refund all her money?. I was not furious and I did not scream and I did NOT tell Mr. Chamberlain that I was going to sue him; I also did not tell Mr. Chamberlain that I was going to contact the BBB at this time. I did not speak to Mr. Chamberlain after this conversation on January 10th. I also want to you to note that I was not screaming, this is another lie. Mr. Chamberlain told the pregnant woman who waited on me that I was a rush order for the photos, this is a lie, I said in the initial meeting ?I was in no hurry? and my son is a witness to this. Mr. Chamberlain did not take my job in good faith to make my pictures clearer at the price he was asking. He knew that he was over charging me for the work that I asked for; I heard this in the conversation on January 10, 2013 when he stated that he knew you could do this same thing at Walgreens or somewhere like. Mr. Chamberlain did NOT try to make what he was doing with my photos clear to me. Mr. Chamberlain was vague and I believe was just interested in my cash, $384.65, for a job not worth its value. Mr. Chamberlain scammed me. Mr. Chamberlain did a job for $384.65 that I could have done at Walgreens (scanner and buying a cd) and the software I already own at home for approximately $25.00. The $147.00 photo looks worse than the original. I was not wowwed with his work and I should have been for $384.65.
Description of Work: I called Mr. Chamberlain about his services and we agreed to meet since I live in the area. On Friday, January 4 at 2:30 p.m. I went to his office. I had a darkish photo from the 1920's that I asked to be able to see better/clearer. He stated that it would cost $147.00. The other photo's were again older photo's from 1940's, around 3x5 size. Again I wanted these clearer, I chose 10 photo's and he said these would be $25.00 each for a total of $250.00. Mr. Chamberlain stated that the work performed on the pictures was free of charge, he stated that this was the scanning and levels. Please note Mr. Chamberlain did NOT explain the term levels. Mr. Chamberlain did not explain any more as to what was happening with the photos. I stated to Mr. Chamberlain that I would love to see his equipment that he uses. Mr. Chamberlain gave a vague answer, something about the equipment wasn't there or he didn't do it and something about art. I stated like art restoration? He said something like this. Art restoration to me, is bringing the art back to it's original state. My son was at this meeting btw so he heard everything.

Fantastic! The only "fault" is that the notation "Nov. 1947" in the bottom margin of the original wasn't reproduced.
Description of Work: Chamberlain was able to restore a family photograph of my mother's family taken in my maternal grandmother's kitchen on Thanksgiving Day 1947. There are 33 of us in the photograph which, for reasons known only to her, she had glued to the cover of a "wood" photo album of pictures from my youth. He was able to digitize the photo and make copies that I can send to my surviving cousins.
