First job was to find the electric source in the kitchen. Chris was very nice, but did a lot of talking using electric jargon that I didn't understand. Eventually, he told me there was something that was bad in the kitchen (forgot the name). He had one in the truck' cost me $25.
The part that sort of upset me was the ceiling fan. He made it a point of telling me how hard he had gotten shocked from it while taking it apart . I was a little surprised that an electric source was not turned off before working on it? Aside from that, the theories he had gone over on the phone did not apply to the light on my ceiling fan at all, and it was deemed not fixable. But the part that annoyed me was that he also broke the fan, so, regardless of whether or not I was going to replace the whole thing, I no longer had a fan that worked, which was a crucial part of my comfort in my place.
I am just not sure I would rehire him. Nice guy, but I was not 100% confident in him after really assessing everything.
"Well, we did change the date at your request. Without first seeing an electrical device - it is near impossible to diagnose correctly. The jargon was based on your many questions that we tried to answer, and yes, I really like what I do - but strive for brevity. It is unfortunate, and assure you no electrician likes to get shocked while working live- especially when amps are involved as they were in your case. However, they will be equally quick to say it is often necessary to determine the root of the problem. In your case, the light kit on your fan stopped working because an amp regulator did its job - preventing a fire. We tried to explain how the previous owners put too high a watt bulbs in, we had no other way of checking. We did inform you prior, that the control wiring trouble-shoot may shut down the entire fan. You said it was very old, and would just get a new one, thats were we left off. We replaced all the ceiling fixtures in your kitchen and one defective GFCI that was prohibiting others from energizing, sorry you were not 100% satisfied - perhaps you will give us another chance in the future."
I would love to have him back to fix some other items, but the budget dollars are just not there at the moment.
He is highly recommended.
"Thank you for the nice review, wish we did bathrooms - but our scope, license and Insurance is limited to Electrical and residential garage doors. Look forward to hearing from you when the budget opens back up however."
"Im sorry we could not provide quicker service, not sure why that qualified us for a D. We were scheduling out before we joined Angies List - that turned out to be our greatest asset to date. However, most folks understand that a Licensed and Insured - dedicated Electrician is sometimes worth waiting a little for, to expect a quality job- the first time. We are working long 7 day workweeks to keep up with demand, perhaps we can be of future service to you."
"Im sorry we were detained on a prior call, the customer had lost most power and a main Service entrance Neutral. We had to deem that an emergency and make the call that I rarely have to make. We are glad that you were satisfied however, and thank you for the nice review."
"Thank you for the nice review, we really try to be as efficient as possible with scheduling, and get better every week."
"Thank you so much for the positive feedback, it really helps offset people like the one that I told you that I was in route to after yours in Mattson - who was not only absent from our scheduled appointment time, but wrote a bad review to boot. Reviews like yours sincerely help keep a positive attitude flowing, where all the hard work and dedication that I put into my company could go un-noticed, folks like yourself shore it back up. I genuinely appreciate it, and wish I had more hours in my day to quickly respond to every review."
"Actually [removed member name], I had tried to schedule you on the only day I was close to you, you declined, that day that was only 23 days out, so Im not sure why you are saying I never called you."
"Good Morning [member name remove], I was at your house last night for our SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, AT OUR appointment time. I called you from YOUR DRIVEWAY - AT OUR APPOINTMENT TIME - this after a full scheduled day of 3 previous appointments, - ONE BEING in Frankfort - JUST MINUTES from the address you gave me in Mattson - that i confirmed just the night before. The close proximity to your house was no accident. When I called you, FROM YOUR DRIVEWAY - you said "This is my bingo night, and I dont miss it for anything" . I guess the appointment I JUST CONFIRMED less then 24 hours before, had slipped your mind? Its a shame I do not have more time to respond to people like you, who have such a profound lack of respect for me, my company, or its' reputation. Moreover, I lack the ability to upload my phone records and the conversations we had. I can say you missed out on one of the most dedicated contractors you will ever run across, your loss - not mine."
"I will have to own this one 100%. I apologize for the delay, I am now asking the members to also identify the latest I can call them, some have been responding - as late as 11pm. Though it is no excuse, it has been busier then it has in many years, it's a positive sign for the economy, but not in this instance, this was on me, again, Im very sorry you had a bad experience."
"Well, when you called me, you asked if I do Plumbing. Since my expertise is limited to electrical and residential garage door work, I responded no, and recommended a plumber. If you have - or, had electrical work to be performed, you never mentioned it. sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused you."
"I am sorry, but the area has been known to be more that of a combat zone, I am just not wanting to encounter any hazards for my helper, truck, or myself."
For the second, the existing light fixture was taken down. The replacement chandelier is older and apparently had a wiring issue and would not work. So the existing light fixture was put back. But that one did not work, although it is practically new. The 2-hour windows was closed at that point so the chandelier is not up (for obvious reasons), the original light is not there any longer, and now there is a make-shift light bulb in its place until I deal with it.
The service and communication itself was good- thus the overall high rating- but I can't say I came away totally satisfied in that my one lighting fixture is worse off now than before.
"Im sorry I did not leave 100% satisfied, I did however explain that your valued passed down family chandelier had developed a short in one of the arms leading to a socket. If memory serves correctly, I was able to trace it to a hot. Unfortunately, electricians can't perform every function of electrical work, the precise tools needed to rework the wires are specific to a handful of lighting shops. I had a recent customer have luck with one said shop in Elmhurst, please feel free to call me, and I can get their number for you - even if you don't use me to re-install it, I would like to see you be able to rehang it - working Safely."
"Good evening [member name removed], thank you for positive review, I have NOT forgot about your green outdoor lighting replacements. I am on my 7th outdoor lighting vendor, and my 19th - non-returned vendor call. I assume we are at their peek, but I will find a match, and currently have a good lead from a California vendor - though not an item she stocks, she was nice enough to forwarded me to one that might."
