If you hire - be sure every single item you want done is in writing within the quote, not just within your original request, and that you are home and available to supervise.

"You asked for a description of a spring clean-up (I gave it to you) / you then emailed you wanted the "spring clean-up" for $195. If the other things you wanted were not in the description what would make you think they were included. (I do apologize we did not quote you for aeration and seeding but we did exactly what we quoted and you asked for) Also, you requested to be called first, which we did and you were home while we did the job."

Guy came over... really uninterested in my original request. Just wanted to up sell me a whole lawn rework. Even just doing what I asked he seem to overblow the job to excess. Dig a ditch put in some pipe. Almost seemed like my job was too small and he didn't want to bother. I don't disagree my lawn needs work, this guy just didn't want my small potatoes. Up sell me or get out.

"The homeowner was trying to eliminate standing water in his backyard. In order to do the job correctly and resolve the water issues, I was trying to come up with a solution that would work for him. Which was to get the roof & ground water relocated to the front yard so it could work its way to the storm sewers. We have been in business for 26 years & I do not try to up sell anyone. He had a set budget in his head that didn't match the work to be done. He didn't even want a quote so I'm not sure how we got a D on price. I was just trying to find a solution to the problem."

Working with Steve at Perfect Turf went very well and I highly recommend them! I searched over a few months for a reasonable priced landscaping company near Des Plaines that would give some design ideas and do it all - I found many to be lot of overpriced or underskilled, and consistently not responsive. Everything with Steve went smoothly and he was willing to change aspects to what I wanted in terms of style and price. He was easy to get in touch with, willing to walk through ideas/make changes/answer questions, and generously honored my Angie's List discount though I forgot to mention it during the estimate meeting. Perfect Turf breaks down the cost of labor and plants which is great; I recommend taking some time to research plants if your budget is tight, we were able to save some money by going back and switching out more expensive choices for more economical ones. One other tip: they shop at Lurvey which is great quality but pricey, may be worth looking at other places if available (we got the work done toward the end of the fall when most stores are done with live plants, but in the summer you may find better deals elsewhere). The work was done very quickly and professionally and we're very happy with the final result. We would use Perfect Turf again for landscaping needs.

Went very well. We replaced all the sod. Steve and his team were on site bright and early ready to go. They finished that morning and cleaned up as if they were never there. Steve gave suggestions on what we could do with some problem areas and is great to work with. Would definitely use them again.

They did a GREAT job. We couldn't have picked a better company to do the work. Perfect Turf checks all the boxes: professional, responsive, nice workers, quality work, everything! All for a great price. Our condo building is filled with young families with kids. Everyone is so excited with our new yard. You won't go wrong with Perfect Turf Landscaping. They are a great family owned business. Steve, his wife Jenny, and his son are great.

perfect-Steve kept me informed every step of the way on scheduling and stop of work and then post installment instructions. The crew did quality work and my lawn is lush and green. Im not sure if it si because of Perfect turf, my ocd watering or a combination but our yard looks better than many newly resided yards int he neighborhood

I don't recall the price. It was under $500. They did the work in two pieces, a half a day for one, less than half a day for the other. We needed two different things -- patching the lawn after the cement and we had some thing that needed to be cleaned up.

The whole process went very smoothly. Steve was great at explaining what needed to be done and why. He was friendly and his work was perfect. His estimate was what we paid, which was nice as well.

Whenever I have consulted Angie's List prior to calling a provider, I have always had good results. This was no exception!
Over many years, our backyard became very bumpy; my husband referred to it as "the Burma Road" when mowing the lawn. We finally decided to have it corrected. I read many good reviews for Perfect Turf and decided to give them a call. Steve, the owner, responded promptly and came out to take a look. He's personable and knowledgeable and provided suggestions in addition to describing each step of the work (removing the grass, tilling, pulverizing and grading the soil, laying the sod and rolling. We wanted to remove a tall evergreen tree before sodding; Steve said that although he could remove the tree for us, he recommended that a tree service would probably do it at less cost. (which we ultimately did). The work was done about 3-4 weeks later, which allowed us time to have the tree taken down.,
Steve and his 4-man crew arrived at 8 am, went right to work, and they were finished within a couple hours. They cleaned up after themselves nicely and did a wonderful job. He gave us instructions ... watering, staying off the new sod, how and when to start cutting the new grass, etc. ... so now it's up to us! We're happy!

The workers were fast and good. They all had different jobs and swarmed my lawn. In less than 2 hours, they were finished with what would have taken me and my husband a week to finish. Very pleased with the results. My lawn looks great!

It was FANTASTIC!!! I wish I could give Perfect Turf an A+++ because they truly deserve it.
I contacted them through Angie's List, and Steve responded on the same day. He came out very quickly and took a look at our yard, and it was a really fun experience. He has a great sense of humor, knows his stuff, and is so darn humble and helpful. We were looking for something that would be very low maintenance, as we aren't very good at gardening, and he was full of excellent suggestions. Some other providers insisted that we pay for a designer (one quoted $500 for a designer's plans, sight unseen!), but Steve was willing to design it for us for free.
After Steve drafted up a lovely design, my husband and I met him at the nursery to pick out plants. What could have been a tedious experience was FUN because of Steve! Again, he really knows his stuff, and he made great suggestions. He never tried to sway us away from our choices unless there were a very good reason for it, and we quickly just started asking him to tell us what he would do if it were his yard.
Steve and his crew (including his son...it's a family business) showed up on time and were ready to work. Everyone was friendly, smiling, and working very hard from the minute they got here. Steve had everything placed in the yard so we could approve it before it got planted, and it looked even more gorgeous than we had hoped.
We can't wait until next year when we'll have Steve and his crew come back to do the backyard! Use Perfect Turf, and you'll be so glad you did...your neighbors will too when they get to look over at your beautiful yard. :)

Steve and his crew did a great job on our front yard. We live on a corner lot and had to get the east and south side of our home updated. Steve met us at our house and gave us a quote for removal of all the bushes and installation of sod. He recommended that we meet him at Lurvey's to pick out new plantings. Steve was very knowledgable when explaining specific trees and shrubs. He really took the time to work with us on what to pick out. Once we decided on shrubs/plants, Steve and his crew came back in a few days to rip out all the bushes/shrubs and installed new plants, tree, shrubs and sod. Everything went well and we are very happy with how everything turned out. Steve is upfront and honest about expectations. We plan to use his services again in the future.

Responded quickly, set a date, and completed on time. Exactly how it's supposed to go! Missed a small portion of the back yard, but not to major of an issue.
