I hired Innovative Home Concepts to install new windows in my house. I used their financing company because they had a good deal to finance over 10 years. Once the work was finished, the financing company sent me all of the information to accept the work, the terms, and give them the OK to pay Innovative Home Concepts, which I did. A few weeks later, I got an email from Innovative that the loan approval had expired and that if I needed to either re-apply for the loan or call them with a credit card to pay for the windows. I looked back through my account with the finance company and found that Innovative had not accepted their end of the loan and so it was never paid out. I told Innovative this, and asked that they send me instructions on how to reapply for the loan. Three weeks went by and I didn't receive anything. Finally I got another email from Innovative threatening to put a lien on my house for non-payment. I replied and explained what was going on, and they finally told me how to reapply for the loan. I called the finance company back, and they told me that a new application would be a new hard inquiry on my credit, which would lower my credit score. I reached back out to Innovative to let them know that, since it was their mistake, I didn't think that it was fair that I took the hit on my credit, and I offered to pay Innovative directly the same amount that I would have been paying the finance company. I was then told by the salesperson that I was "refusing to pay" (when they were literally responding to my email offering to pay) and that my concerns about my credit score being lowered were unreasonable. I was told that if I did not either reapply for the loan and take the credit hit or call them immediately with a credit card to pay the balance, that I would force them to put a lien on my house, that I would be responsible for all of their legal fees, and that if I did not pay it would force the sale of my home. I told the salesperson that I would like to speak with the owner prior to making a decsion on how to proceed, and within an hour I had brand new loan documents in my inbox. And then, after I left a review on another site, I was contacted by the owner offering me restaurant gift cards if I took the reviews down, so who knows how many more bad reviews they would have if they weren't paying people off to take them down?

Without a doubt one of the worst companies we have ever dealt with. We hired Innovative Home Concepts to replace our entire roof, which was damaged due to a hail storm. Initially, the process went smoothly. However, when construction began it became a nightmare. When the job was roughly half way done, my husband decided he would go on to the roof to check the progress. On the roof he found the laborers covering up plywood that was rotting and clearly needed to be replaced, he instructed them to do so and they did without struggle. He was also shocked to see the workers’ marijuana pipes lined up on my young son’s window sill, they had been smoking through the entire job. We chose to let that slide because we simply just wanted the job finished. Upon completion of the job, we were unsure of the quality of the craftsmanship. My husband sent the salesmen a text regarding a large piece of window trim that had been broken during construction and also stated that we were worried about the window possibly leaking. The salesmen kept putting off the subject and at one point sent a text that literally said “not my problem. At this point we decided it would be beneficial to have an experienced roofer take a look and offer their opinion. Several areas were clearly not up to par, however the largest “mistake” was they seemed to have “forgotten” the wind and water shield on large portion of our roof! We immediately called the salesmen that we had dealt with. About a week later he came out with a rude, defensive attitude. He noticed several “cuts” in the shingles and blamed our painter because he “knew his guys wouldn’t do that”. Our painter and long time friend is the most meticulous, careful person you’d ever meet. He eventually had to eat his words when he confirmed that they did in fact “forget” the wind and water shield layer. He assured us that the issue would be resolved right away and they would have to proceed with a tear off and install the roofing components correctly. We’ve now been waiting weeks for the “mistakes” to be corrected with no word from the company. We completely understand mistakes, but not making the correction of mistakes a priority is simply unacceptable.

Before the work started, I guess Rich was in the neighborhood, and saw the other company's sign on our lawn, with roof supplies in the driveway. He decided to come to our door, and proceed to tell me what type of person my husband and I were for having him come out and provide a quote, and then not go with them. I told him, that's really great customer service, to come to my door in this manner. First of all, the quote was free, in anticipation of the customer working with you. Secondly, we never signed a contract, and third, I continuously informed them that we could not afford what they were asking. Rich then tells me that I should have called him and told him, and maybe he could have worked something out. If that was the case, when I received the phone calls and explained that we could not afford the asking price, that would be the time to "work something out." He went on to use an explicative, and state how he had lost his faith in humanity. He stormed back to his car stating how this was bullish*t and then my phone rang. He was calling trying to reach my husband, probably to go off on him too. In the end, I am glad that we didn't go with this company. I read the reviews, but wanted to give them a chance, which is why we had them give us a quote in the first place.

John Farenzena, the Senior Consultant was professional and knowledgable of their product. He was on time the day he was scheduled to visit and gave an accurate estimate. The installers were on time the day of the scheduled installation. The installers reviewed the job with us before starting to work to ensure that we were on the same page. They finished the job in a timely manner and left the site clean.

THe gutter guys forgot a few things and innovative sent someone out within a few days to fix it. Honestly, we had a LOT of work done and they weren't bad to deal with and I'm pretty sure they gave us a small discount for the gutter trouble and for referring a few neighbors. I'd use them again. they were professional and honest people.

Went fine. The cleanup by the crew was especially heart-warming. In our last tear down at another house many years ago, we decided to save money by doing the cleanup ourselves. BAD DECISION! Some things are best done by the folks you hire -- and old roof tearoff cleanup is definitely one of them.

Do make the contractor come out to view and explain the work. It was not apparent to me what the entire scope of the job was. I am not the expert. Had I accepted Innovative's proposal, my inexperienced description of the work would not have solved the problem. Maybe Innovative would have pointed out the extra work that was needed. But this would have raised an issue of trust. Additional price requests and someone looking at the job confirmed the additional work needed.

Everything went just as planned - they did everything they said they would, and did the job when they said they would. Everything looked great and they cleaned up very well when everything was finished. The only problem experienced (not due to them) was a storm came in after they started and had to leave for the day (and they came back the next day to complete), so they were not able to clean up as well as I would have liked. But a great experience overall!

First of all I am sure his company probably has a good product but it is their sales technique. I am the one who negotiates the work and pays the bills but they insisted my husband be there because he might have more questions. And why should they answer things twice. I didn't like the attitude but played along. The sales man came and immediately told us all the gutters needed to be replaced. He then measured and proceeded to do the car salesmen dance. He proceeded to show gutter covers . Of course only theirs was shown in a good light. The others were all shown in less than desirable usage. The total was about $10,000 INCLUDING TAX. Illinois does not charge tax on services. Then magically the tax was removed if we paid cash or charged it to a credit card. He told me the tax was actually a finance charge. Talk about double dipping. Then there was the Angie's List discount. Then there was for tonight only we will take another $200 off. Okay, I 'm not supposed to do this but you only have to put ten dollars down. Sign this tonight and you have 3 days to make up you mind. On and on it went. We kept asking him to leave. He finally did. I am sure they had a good product but their sales pitch was enough to cause me to choose another contractor

This install was a breeze for me. I was glad I was home during the install to answer questions and give clarification to this complex install, but the team was flexible and delivered even better than I was expecting. By the end, not only was I satisfied that my money had been well spent, but seeing the level of expertise and experience coming out of these guys during the install I was glad it wasn't a job I took on myself.

We did have angled fascia board on my garage which the initial sales person said would not be an issue. When the crew came out, it was obvious that they're spacer brackets would not make the angle needed. I did call the office to talk with them about this, but they followed through and made good on the initial promise, even doing a little carpentry work to create the flat surface they needed. In the end, after they had cut some custom flashing for it, I was amazed this was the first time they had done anything like this. It looks great.

On another part of the house where I was going to need two downspouts coming down fairly close to each other they had initially attached it to the tree. I didn't think it looked bad at all, but my wife wanted to see if they could get the two to merge together. It was the end of the day, but they unpacked their gear and made it right without any complaint.

I could go on with various other little details that they happily worked past.

I was pleasantly surprised to find they made extra long run off drains with a hinge in the back yard. Something I could pick up before mowing, and would still work if I forgot them there. I'm impressed!

During a recent heavy snow a branch broke and damaged the gutter on my (detached) garage. I contacted IHC and they gave me an estimate that was reasonable (about 20% less than a similar rated provider from Angies List). We agreed on the price and they scheduled a crew to come out within a week - it was not an urgent job for me. The crew was able to come one day early and were able to finish the job in about an hour. I was very satisfied with how the work was done and the results ... only one more test, but it hasn't rained yet.

I was at least 90-95% satisfied with all aspects of interaction and services provided, but a customer always needs to remember that they are their own best advocate and should still review all aspects of services and billing carefully. There were a couple occasions when I had to point out some small items I thought might have been overlooked to make sure they were addressed. Innovative acted quickly on these items, to my satisfaction, when they were pointed out. I would recommend this company to others in need of this type of service.

I felt that they had a better product than other companies, which helped justify the cost. They improved the drainage in our yard by moving some of the down spouts. I think that the workmanship was good. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves. The part of the gutter that is on the ground is hinged and velcro'd, so you can lift them for mowing. This is our second fall and we do not have any problems with leaves in our gutters.

Some of the product they used on my house wasn't the color that I ordered. It must have been left over for another job so they just painted it to match. Within 6 months the paint was peeling off and my house looked horrible. I ended up calling the manufacturer directly and they sent me some new parts so that I could replace them. The workmanship itself was nice but I couldn't believe they wouldn't come back and fix something which was obviously their fault.

"We will agree to disagree? Innovative Home Concepts had made several attempts to satisfy this customer. The BBB has even deemed our attempts to make the member happy were satisfactory. We agreed to replace the end caps and had left several messages to schedule this work with no return phone calls. We strive to make happy customers and lifelong partnerships and it is unfortunate that this customer was not happy even after all our attempts to do so."
