Installed new AC and heater unit in April 2023. Had used Garrett prior as I found them reasonably priced. After the install, numerous safety/code violations were found when the unit was inspected. Among them were not adding a safety drip pan under the furnace, not installing a coil condensate drain correctly, running a flexible gas line into the furnace cabinet (a code violation), not terminating the electric correctly (a code violation), leaving exposed wires on the AC unit outside. The new owner claims it's not his responsibility to fix these issues. I'd steer away and go with someone that wants to back up their work (sorry, it's your work if you buy the company). Update as of 01/15/2025 Response to review and company response Jan 2025. Company DID NOT come out or even reach out to me regarding this. Tape and duct work repairs? When did you come to my house? Shows how dishonest this company is. Stay clear. Only excuses from this company (for example. we bought our business in 2024, not our problem!)
Response from Garrett Heating & Cooling

"The work performed was in APRIL(2023)! The Current owner came to the residence on Friday January 3rd 2025 at 1 P.M. Confirmed the aluminum tape from around the furnace/A coil sealing the airflow off was a cohesive failure of the tape! We discussed the repairs that could be made in order to get more airflow to the one end of the residence! We then rescheduled an appointment after a rough estimate was given for the additional duct work. Insured the customer that the tape would be taken care of on the scheduled date January 7th between 8 A.M. 9 A.M. Employees then repaired the tape on the furnace/A coil. Customer was not interested at this time to install new duct work. I only wish we could have heard sooner about the issue this customer was having! We at this time did not charge the customer anything at all for any of this work. We really are sorry for any inconvenience you are having and hope you the best! Current owner purchased JUNE 5th 2024. From the first contact! notes taken there were no discussion’s of any code violation’s! Condensate issue, Exposed wires!! We were there 2 times within 5 day’s!"

Jeff and his team were great! They installed a new furnace in a 100 year old home the same week they did the diagnostic and quote. They offered very reasonable pricing and performed excellent work. Everyone was so nice and they had the old furnace out, new one in plus a few other road blocks the house put in the way due to its age, they quickly diagnosed and fixed in no time. Would highly recommend and trust him and his team.

Went great, value for money and speed of doing everything really quick. Jeff (co-owner) Came in to provide quote but first offered to see if they can repair old 20+ year old unit. Pricing same day, install within 2/3 days replaced whole system within a few hours. Warranty on items and labor (labor one year).

The work went well. I called and Melinda answered. I gave her several quotes I obtained and she replied " we can beat that and provide you excellent service. James arrived the next day and inspected my old furnace and A/C. He showed me the brocher of the units and gave me price. I excepted and closed the deal with a hand shake. Curtis and Carey came the next day to install both units. In the process and showed my what they were doing and how their techniques were better than my old set up. Curtis and Carey were cordial, polite and professional. I would use this company again for appliance repair or maintenance on my HVAC units.

I called this company because I was told that they really try to treat their customers fairly and not overcharge.  Since I have a geothermal system with back-up propane heat, they were a little hesitant to come out, but when I explained that the problem was with the gas furnace, not the geothermal, they agreed to come look at it and said that if they couldn't help, there would be no charge.
Mr. & Mrs. Garrett arrived within the scheduled window after calling to advise they were 5 minutes away.  They were courteous, professional, and very attentive to my explanation of what was going on.  At one point when they were unsure about something, they called the factory rep for information instead of just winging it or risking charging me for something I didn't need.
They determined that my burners needed to be cleaned and did so.  I then asked them to check the burners on my second furnace.  They found them to be in really good shape, but cleaned what small amount of soot was on them and vacuumed up the dead stink bugs which were in the furnace.  They also arranged with the manufacturer to replace the inducer motor while it was still under warranty and will be doing that as soon as the new motor comes in.
They did not leave any mess at all and even called me after they left to apologize for their truck blocking the garage when my wife came home from the store.
     I highly recommend this company.

They took a quick look at my current furnace and air conditioner.  Asked I wanted a standard unit or if I wanted to go with energy efficient.  I let them know that I wanted to go with energy efficient furnace & A/C.  I said I cannot afford top of the line, but that I also don't want the cheapest units either.  Somewhere in the middle would be best.  I asked if they did financing and they said, "No. You would have to put it on a credit card."  I let them know, that I don't have a credit card with that kind of limit on it.  They walked around the front of my house, while I walked back inside the back door.  I went through the house and came out the front door.  They handed me a vague estimate, with only a total price at the bottom.  No costs associated with the units listed and no list of work that would need to be done or the cost of doing that work.  After examining the items listed on the estimate, I discovered the 97,000 BTU furnace is basically the bottom of the line high efficiency model (no AFUE rating listed on estimate).  Could not find that model number on AmeriStar's website either.  He did tell me that my current furnace (120,000 BTUs) is way too big for my house.  The other companies that have given me estimates also said the same thing, but gave me estimates for lower BTU furnaces.  A/C unit listed was 13 SEER rating, rather than 16 or 18 SEER, which if they had bothered to discuss that with me, I would have informed them of my knowledge of the SEER ratings.  I could not find the exact model numbers for either the condenser or the coil on AmeriStar's website.  The model numbers that I did find that were similar were not energy efficient models.  They did not discuss the different types of furnace & A/C units with me.  They just went with single stage units in their estimate.  Had they asked me, I would have told them that I was interested in 2 stage furnace and 2 stage A/C.
They were at my house less than 10 minutes.  I felt like as soon as I asked about financing and stated that I did not have a high limit credit card, I was just low-balled.  They were nice enough people (man & woman), but too quick to judge with not enough information.  And too quick to throw a cheap estimate at me and leave.
Response from Garrett Heating & Cooling

"I have given this a lot of thought we really are sorry we made you feel that way that was not our intention. we are a small business and the night before my husband was very sick throwing up all night and for us we don't have people to go sale our equipment or take our place. It had nothing to do with your credit card and no we don't finance when he asked about top of the line the purpose was to kind of feel out what you were looking for and for 2 stage air conditioner and furnace that is top of the line maybe we did jump to fast and I am sorry for that honestly we was trying to get home to lay down because he was sick."

I live in a small house and all other bids wanted to sell me a much larger unit. The unit he suggested has worked perfectly both heating and cooling. They were very responsive. He came out took, out all the old equipment. He even brought out a metal curving table thing because my new furnance was shorter and needed a duct extension. They went well out of their way for a customer, I know wasn't their biggest. He cleaned up after himself very well and I was very satisfied.
