I would rate them a "0" but that's not allowed. I feel like I have gotten scammed here. I order doors back in March. It's now August 29th and I still haven't received my doors. I checked over at the BBB and it seems like I share a lot of personal experience that others have had with Defender Doors. It seems like this business has resorted to becoming a full-fledged scam operations. For your complaining about their process, they have a manager for you to speak to who has the best vacation plan in the history of businesses - she's always out on vacation! I am completely tired of these people! I will attempt to take them court to recoup my money, but I will NEVER work with them again!

Took over 6 months for door to be installed. Never received updates from providers. Will not be using this provider in the future.

Ordered one oversized door back in February, 2019. Understood because it was oversized it would take a bit longer to produce. March, April, May passed and I never heard from the company, I had to make all calls to find out the status of my door. Appointment for install made for June 5th, incorrect door was delivered. One week passes heard nothing about a new install appointment so I had to call. Only appointment I could get is late July for a door I ordered in February and wrong door sent for installation in June. I have ordered doors in the past from them and never had an issue but this time I've received nothing but poor service and responsiveness. Had to pay for door with a check because they would not take a credit card so I could not cancel my order. No service recovery efforts have been made by company for my inconveniences. I've read many other reviews that others have experienced delayed installation of their doors and what I have experienced over the past few months I would not recommend this company to friends or family. There are additional doors I need and my next project is fencing, thank goodness I do have options and will select another company in future.

ORDERED DOORS BACK IN OCT 2018, PAID DEPOSIT 60% DOWN, WERE CUSTOM MADE, WAITED THRU WINTER BECAUSE OF SNOW, CALLED FEW WEEKS AGO WAS TOLD NO INSTALLER WAS AVAILABLE, CALLED LAST WEEK PHONE GIRL SAYS SHE'LL PUT THE ORDER ON MANAGERS DESK. HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY WILL TRY TO INSTALL MAY 15, ITS BEEN 6 MONTHS!!! ALL U GET WHEN U CALL IS THE EXCUSES AND PUT OFFS, NEIGBORS GAVE ME SOME NAMES OF OTHER COMPANIES THEY HAVE DEALT WITH. DEFENDER STEEL DOORS NEVER AGAIN!! THE BBB REPORT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST THEM. ALL THEY HAVE ON BBB SITE IS BAD REVIEWS STAY AWAY AND THATS WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE, SHED DOOR IS ROTTED OFF THE HINGES.

Well when I contact them to give me and estimate they were very professional. Obviously the owner came and did the estimate. After I paid a higher price to have my door made, they had me waiting for double of the estimated time. When I finally got my door they have me waiting for over 3 weeks to have it install. I keep calling and calling the answer was: installers don’t work Mondays and only 1/2 day on Saturdays. To make the story short, the gentlemen came and install it doing a terrible work. 1.- door knobs hit my entrance door door knobs. 2.- the caulking around is terrible. 3.- the trim around is loose. I emailed, I left voicemails, I spoke to several people and the answer was: We will fix it as soon as our installer gets back from surgery and therapy. Is been more than 2 months and I still have no solution! I can’t believe there are only 2 installers. They supposed to call me this week and have my issue solve by the 20th do this current month. So here I am giving this review for others not to deal with them. I didn’t want to write but they gave me no option.

I wouldn't recommend this company at all. As the other reviews point out, the communication is absolutely awful. We waited for four months for the installation of a door that we were told would take 6-8 weeks. We had to call several times to get an install date scheduled. Ordered the door in March the door was installed in July. Within 24 hours of installation the lock didn't work. The installer came back to fix it and within an hour it didn't work again. Upon closer review of the door we noticed that the installer miscut the middle console on the screen door. We have called the company several times regarding the fact that we cannot get into the door due to the malfunctioning lock and that the middle portion of the door/screen frame was miscut. We are still waiting for a person to come and fix the door so we can use it after 13 days. Four months and thousands of dollars for a door that we can't use. Not at all worth it - the door itself is really nice - it is too bad that the customer service and communication are absolutely awful.

Horrible.  It took 6 months to finally deliver doors.  Pam, the administrator, is full of creative excuses on why they can't perform.  Bob, the owner, is almost as bad as Pam.  Both don't return calls, change delivery dates without a thought.  Check out the BBB.  There are many complaints from the last 18 months.  Posting this review to help others.  You have been warned.  You give a deposit at your own risk.

Delays and excuses that is the my opinion of the service I received.
The contract was signed on 7.31.15, I requested the door be installed before the end of September, which I was told it should not be a problem, and request was noted on contract.
As of 9.21.15, I had not heard from the vendor, I called at 8:45 a.m. it went to ring no answer.  At 9:10 Pam answered and said she would call me back with a day of installation, she call back and said my installation would take place on Oct. 08 2015, current delay was due to having run out of my paint color.  
Oct. 07 2015 Pam called to cancel appointment for tomorrow because the door that came in was made to the wrong specifications per the installer.  She would have installer call me back with specifics, he never did, instead the salesman called me back with the same story.  He did not have a new install day, I requested one.
Oct. 10 2019 Pam said the door should be ready by Oct 19 2015.
Spoke to Pam on Oct 19 2015, I still do not have an installation date.  She stated installation is closed Sunday and Monday, today is Monday so she can't give me a date.
Oct. 22 2015 I was given installation date of Nov. 05 2015, no time schedule available yet.
Nov. 05 2015, Tim the installer showed up, and unlike their process he was a professional.
For the record Pam is pleasant and professional, unfortunately she and Tim do not seem to have the same supporting staff.
