XSport Fitness - Chicago Lakeview Gym

Good. They have the equipment I use, and the price was right by paying cash for the entire year, and waiting until I could get another 6 months added on at no additional charge. They also provide free parking, which is a HUGE plus. The only problem I have is that during peak hours it's very crowded. I try to go in off peak, of course. I recommend this club to anyone who can't afford to pay high-end club prices.

I have been a member of XSport Fitness for several years. The price is good, but of course, as a result the gym is often crowded. I still find it fairly easy to complete my exercise routine. The managers seem to try to keep up with exercise trends and add equipment such as the TRX system. The equipment is maintained pretty well--rarely are machines out of commission. The members are generally polite and keep to themselves while exercising. At 63, I am older than the average member by 25-30 years, but I do not feel out of place. The trainers are very helpful and available to answer questions even if you're not working with them. I suppose I could join a more luxurious club but I prefer the value of XSport.

For the price, it's pretty hard to beat Xsport. I pay $49/month but you may be able to get even better deals by paying for a full year in advance. If you can only work out during peak hours, you may get a bit frustrated as it can get pretty crowded. But if you have the ability to work out during off-peak times like I'm able to do, it's perfect. Lots of machines, kept relatively clean, eye-candy to look at (if that's your thing). I've used one of their personal trainers and have watched some of the other trainers and again, they offer excellent quality for the price as the sessions are cheaper than at other gyms.

The price is great and the gym is fine. It's not the best gym ever, but the equipment is good enough. It did get a little too hot in there though, both during the Summer and Winter. My main complaint is how hard they make it to cancel your membership if you need to. I got sick and wanted to put my membership on hold and they made it very difficult to do so. When I finally decided not to renew my membership at the end of the year, they told me that they would automatically have to renew it unless I sent a certified letter to their corporate headquarters and then waited for approval. It'd be one thing if I wanted to cancel my contract early, but I just did not want to renew. If you don't pay attention to exactly when you joined, once the year is up, they will just start charging you their month to month rate which is higher than the annual rate. I think this is all very sneaky and underhanded,I don't plan to give my business to them again.

This place is not the cleanest gym in the world. Weight equipment is on the old side too, but cardio equipment seems better. I hate that they advertise merchandise over the PA system--at a loud volume. The free weight room smells funky. The salesman told me weeks ago he was going to mail me a $50 gift certificate which was part of the memerbship package, but hasn't done so. The women are nicer lookig than LPAC though.

Gyms are average for the price. Cardio equipment needs to be updated. The North Ave location had better equipment than the others. Each location that I have gone to is overrun with front desk staff and membership staff. Seems as though the staff is always sitting around a chit chatting. I would suggest that they cut the staff and get some updated machines.

WHAT A GREAT DEAL THIS CLUB IS. IT IS AFFORDABLE, CLEAN, OFFERS A LOT OF VARIETY FOR MACHINES, & IS ALWAYS OPEN. FREE PARKING, INTERNET, & POOL. THEY EVEN SUPPLY TOWELS.

I RECENTLY LEFT THIS GYM BUT ONLY BECAUSE I MOVED FARTHER AWAY. I HAD A GREAT RATE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I SIGNED UP TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS LOCATIONS OPENING. IT WAS A GREAT GYM IN THAT IT HAD ALL THE EQUIPMENT YOU COULD EVER NEED, COMPLETELY UP TO DATE, WAS KEPT CLEAN, AND HAD FRIENDLY SERVICE. MY COMPLAINTS WOULD BE THAT IT WAS OFTEN VERY CROWDED, AND IT HAS VERY SMALL LOCKER ROOMS. AT PEAK HOURS IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND AN OPEN LOCKER TO STORE YOUR BELONGINGS. ALSO, THE CROWD IS ON THE YOUNGER SIDE AND SO IF YOU ARE IN THE 30+ AGE RANGE YOU MIGHT FEEL A LITTLE OUT OF PLACE.

THEY CHARGED A YEARLY MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL TO MY CREDIT CARD WITHOUT CONTACTING ME OR INFORMING ME THAT MY MEMBERSHIP WAS ABOUT TO EXPIRE. THEY ALSO DID NOT SEND ME A NOTICE THAT THEY HAD MADE THE CHARGE TO MY CREDIT CARD. I FOUND THE CHARGE ON MY STATEMENT. THE CONTRACT FOR MEMBERSHIP HAS ALL SORTS OF HIDDEN AGENDAS.
