I needed some stair-runners installed. The owner, Mike, came out and measured my stairs. Mike was detailed and very knowledgable and even drew a sketch of my stairs for me. The price quoted seemed fair. Unfortunately, due to the runner material (hand knotted), and pattern i selected, Windy City Carpets was unable to install the rug the way I wanted (expanding the rugs on the pie shaped curved pieces of the stair). But they were honest and prompt, I would hire them if i need future services for more standard rugs.

I reached out to Mike at Windy City and we set an appointment immediately. He had to cancel the appointment but phoned early to let me know and rescheduled promptly. He showed up to my home with an array of samples. Took measurements and spent some time explaining the process and the types of carpet. He even sent me carpet samples so I could lay them on the floor to compare. The men who installed showed up about 30 minutes late but got right to work. They were friendly and hardworking. All of our heavy furniture was upstairs so they had to move from one side of the room to the other. No small task since our roof is angled which cuts down the space to move items. It took them longer than they thought to install: 10 hours in all! The carpet looks great! And the padding underneath is the BEST! What a difference on our feet! I would definitely hire again.

There were and an odd assortment of 90 year old wooden stairs, tough hot conditions, weird angles and they look really nice. Fantastic job and the best quoted price of 3 different vendors. Highly recommended.

We had a fantastic experience with this company, and Mike and his crew were very easy and friendly to work with from start to finish.

I first contacted Mike one year ago, to begin assessing the cost of new carpeting and padding for our two foyer entrances and stairwells for our 12 unit condo building. He was able to visit our building the very next day to spec out the bid,  and brought a sample book that showcased multiple brands and price points of carpeting. He carefully measured out the area, and I received his bid within  two days or less, after his initial visit one year ago.

We then called him this month to finally move forward with the work, and Mike was very easy to work with, once again! He reconfirmed the pricing still held and the product we wanted was available, and he also brought an updated book on the brand we wanted to buy with current swatch colors for our consideration.

We got our invoice/contract in place within one day, and Mike was able to provide us excellent customer service. He accompanied the two workers that started the job on our premises, and was even kind enough to begin and finish all the work prior to even receiving our deposit from our management company that delayed mailing the down payment by mistake.

The installation went perfectly well, and took one day for the tear out and installation of the new padding, followed by another day of the installation of the new carpeting.

The two workers were very professional, courteous, clean cut, and very good at their jobs. Mike even went the extra mile by giving us some extra pieces of carpeting incase  one of the landings gets worn, or an accident occurs that stains the new material. He could have charged us for this request, as it was a nice chunk of extra carpeting, but instead he threw it in as no charge, which we thrilled us!

Mike and his crew did an excellent job with the carpet in our basement. He stopped by and advised us excellently on possible options, was never pushy for service we did not need, and staid in touch to coordinate the work once the carpet was delivered. The crew laid the carpet in one day, with excellent results. All of this with a very competitive price.

We were in good hands from start to finish. When I put out requests for quotes to various providers, sometimes they would send a random person to measure the space who knew nothing about carpet, or sometimes they would not send anyone at all until I expressed serious interest. Mike, the owner of Windy City Carpet Service, came personally to take measurements on a Saturday morning, and he brought carpet samples with him, which allowed us to see various options in the space itself. He clearly had deep knowledge of carpeting, and he picked up on things that others did not, and provided good advice on lowering costs.
The Windy City quotes came in much cheaper than other companies, presumably because Windy City does not have a shiny showroom full of salespeople. Mike handled all interaction, questions, and invoicing himself, and his responses were always quick and clear. When the installers came to perform the installation, they arrived on time, and it only took about 4 hours to finish because Mike had precut all of the carpet sections based on his measurements. Everything fit nicely, and there were no issues. They hauled away the old carpet, and they vacuumed the newly installed carpet, so everything was in great shape when they left.

They were pretty good. It was maybe a few months ago, at November. They have got a couple of pounds.  They did a good job. It was moderate, I think, it was the best, but I was not going to the cheapest. Responsiveness was good. There is a couple of things that we had to go back and get fixed.

It went well. After waiting three weeks for another provider to NOT do the work, we checked Angie's List and chose Windy City Carpet Services, Inc. due to their high rating and user responses.. They were professional, came on time and installed the carpet with great attention to detail.  The workers were friendly and worked diligently.  We are very pleased and recommend them highly.

They were excellent.  They were very reasonable.  I have used them in the past.  They did my carpets years ago.  I shopped around and looked at other people but I went back to them.  I would recommend them to anybody.  They always come through when there is a problem.  There was a problem when they installed the kitchen floor and they fixed it.  There were no questions asked.  They were accommodating and fixed everything perfectly.

We liked him very much and he was very thorough in everything that he did and his price was very good as well, but we couldn't use him because he couldn't get the carpeting in the time frame that we need. He did the most accurate measurement of everybody who came, everybody else was really quick and were guesstimating everything, while he laid out the measuring thing into the closet and measured at different points. He explained everything and had different choices. I really liked his carpeting but were disappointed that we couldn't use him.

This review is absolutely 100% for the right company. I have provided Angies list with my receipt from Windy City Carpet.

Since my carpet was a prepadded carpet they told me it would have to be glued
down(and I assume they charged me for glue). When the installer arrived he said no they will not glue it down they will staple it in. My problem is that the seams are easily visible from a distance of 30 ft away, everywhere he put a seam looks like a patch work quilt. I was told that it was because the carpet had been rolled up and was compressed and it would fill out. It still looks like a patchwork quilt......

We highly recommend the company, and we would use them again for future carpet needs.
Mike initially came in to take detailed measurements.  We asked for a specific carpet model, and he promptly sent us the estimate as well as the actual sample.  Their cost was very competitive (we had 3 other competing quotes).  From the time we confirmed the work to actual installation was <1 week.  We had several contractors come in to work on our basement.  Mike's team was the best in our view from the standpoint of professionalism, friendliness, and cleaning after their work.

In July 2012 I obtained estimates to replace all the carpeting on my second floor. Two companies quoted me competitive prices and both received A's on Angie's List. Windy City Carpet was a smaller company and the wife was especially friendly and helpful over the phone. I signed a purchase agreement with the husband on 7/20/12 and the carpet was installed within two weeks. The carpet layers were here from 8 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. We knew there were problems right away. The seams were horrible! The head of the team told us it was the best they could do. We have lived here for thirty years and have never had carpet look like this. When we complained to the owner that the carpet seams were highly visible and hard to the touch because of the glue, and that some of the heat registers on the floor were carpeted over by mistake, he said it was the fault of the carpet layers and the installers would have have to be responsible for fixing it. The head installer came back twice and cut out around the registers and tried to redo some of the seams but it was still unacceptable. We had several out of town guests arrive who stayed for a family reunion. When everyone left, the owner came over and said the company was busy right now and he would call me in two weeks. He didn't call. Since I made the initial payment with a check but charged the final amount on my credit card I was able to dispute $ 2132.65. Since I needed estimates of repair for the credit card company I had two firms assess the situation. They both said the seams were the worst they had ever seen. The credit card company ruled in my favor and removed the charge. Windy City Carpet called and said the bank never informed them of the problem until recently. The owner again blamed the carpet layers and said he wouldn't be using that outside team again. He then sent out the installers that are personally employed by Windy City. They replaced the majority of the carpet and one room had to be redone a third time, but they were excellent. The work was completed by the end of October 2012. I charged it on my credit card again and the carpet looks beautiful, but you can't put a price on aggravation. For anyone using Windy City or any other carpet company make sure you know who's installing your carpet.
