Great Service and when he left I felt confident that the issue was resolved.

I was totally satisfied with their work, but the final price was a little higher than what I had anticipated. That being said, the plumber who came out was very courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He taught me a few new things, and I really appreciated all of his help.

Everything turned out great! Jan made himself available quickly, and I got an appointment at a time convenient to me. He arrived promptly, and he was very friendly and responsive. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

I emailed Vanguard through Angie's List over the weekend, and right away on Monday we were able to setup an appointment for the first time I was available. Jan came right on time at 9 am, explained my options and was able to start right away.

He was done with everything within a couple hours. He did all the agreed upon work quickly - reversed the connections, capped the old dishwasher valve, and installed new 1/4 turn valves for all 3 connections (hot, cold, dishwasher). 

Vanguard was responsive, thorough, professional, and reasonably priced. I hope I don't need ever need more service, but knowing my place, I will. When that happens, I will definitely call Vanguard right away.

What makes Vanguard special:

1. Honest and straightforward - I appreciate that he offered two options and explained the differences - one was more expensive than the other and sometimes its hard to tell why they're different. I chose the more expensive option because it meant I'd still have separate valves for the sink and dishwasher, so if something went wrong with one, I could turn it off without affecting the other.
2. Goes above and beyond - He also installed metal plates around the pipes to cover pre-existing holes, tightened our leaky faucet, tightened the wobbly faucet-counter connection, and tightened loose faucet drain pipes. The faucet stuff had been bugging me, but I figured it was just cheap and couldn't be helped. I was thrilled that he just fixed them.

Vanguard was able to get to me the same day that I called to report a leaking valve.  Jan was very conscientous and earnest in explaining the problem that I was having and what he would do to fix it.  The price was consistent with what he quoted me and he was very helpful in suggesting fixes to another problem that I was having with my sinks.  I will definitely use Vanguard againstt

Jan responded quickly to a faulty water heater control valve.  He showed up on time and ready to get to work.  Was extremely courteous and professional.  I had started to prep the water heater before he arrived (i simply drained the water...) and he knocked $25 off of the service call...   Would very much recommend his work- it's tough to find a good, honest plumber in the city- Jan is it!

I like the owner and the receptionist. Receptionist is very detailed and the workers are always on time and very knowledgeable. They have a nice annual service plan, which also has a nice price.

It was great.  No two hour window.  He arrived on time and fixed the problems quickly.  I will use him again.

Vanguard has performed quite a few jobs for us over the past several years, starting with a simple clogged drain, but has also included sewer line clearing, leak fixes, gas line installation, and eventually, full plumbing for a kitchen and bathroom remodel project, which involved replaced old deteriorating original plumbing in our bungalow with new copper and PVC as well as installing new fixtures. The work has always been performed professionally with meticulous care and I've had no complaints.

Overall, I have found Vanguard to be a great company that combines skilled and honest service for a fair price. Jan, the owner, is extremely knowledgable and will always present several options to solve the problem at hand, the pros and cons of each approach and his recommendation. He is personable, fair, reliable and truly cares about his work -- great qualities that foster a true relationship built on trust. We have been extremely satisfied with Vanguard's work and service and I recommend them highly.

Nice on the phone, but didn't show up at the scheduled time and did not call to apologize/explain.

They were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. They showed up on time. We did not have any complicated issues.

I called few plumbers to estimate replacement of water heaters. Vanguard plumbing came up with moderate price, I chose them because Jan appeared pretty knowledgeable with modern technologies and offered really modern solutions saving some money on energy bill. He also behave really nice. He put protective coat on his shoes once entering dusty spaces and he took them out going out of there. They did good work, everything is working great !
