A little background: My husband and I downsized from a 4000 sq. ft. house to a 600 sq. ft. rental apartment. So this was our plan:
Move necessities of our household and 2 home based businesses (as we deemed them) from our house to our new apartment. and separate new office location. (Our first experience with The Professionals).
Well, it was a great plan, but upon contemplation, we decided we needed "more stuff". After our first excellent experience we had with The Professionals, I didn't hesitate to call them again. And just like the first time, we had "stuff" that we wanted moved to both our apartment and office.
The Professionals didn't disappoint. We had a new crew this time, with Moses as the lead. They moved quickly as they packed and then unpacked at both locations. Key words: Efficient, fast, professional.
May I offer you a few tips, dear reader, to facilitate the efficiency of The Professionals?
- 1. Be ready by the time the movers arrive. Packing takes longer than you think. If I had it to do all over again, I would have hired The Professionals to pack everything, as well as move it. Previous to this move, our last move was over 20 years ago. If you don't pack boxes often, you forget all the details that make packing and unpacking easy.
- 2. Remember, you are paying by the hour. So make things easier on your movers. This is what I did: I used two different colors/patterns of tape to differentiate where the boxes should be delivered. (Check out Pinterest for a some really good ideas if you have a mulit-location move like we did.) Again using additional solid colors of tape, I would add a strip of yellow tape to indicate "fragile". Worked for us and the movers. I think it will work for you too.
- The Professionals are a Chicago based company and I find them to be very cost competitive for the good work that they do. One of my favorite companies that I highly recommend to you.

Let me preface my remarks by saying that my last move 20 years ago was a total disaster. So the thought of downsizing our home caused me severe anxiety---until I called The Professionals.
My first contact via the phone was totally professional and helpful. The gal asked several questions to get the scope of the move in order to get an estimate. I wasn't well prepared for the call, so she asked several questions that helped me to focus on what I wanted to keep vs. discard. The paperwork arrived quickly thereafter. I also received a follow up call so that we could put a tentative date on the calendar. But wouldn't you know it, I needed to change the date. No problem. I called and we worked it out.
The move was easy, smooth, fast and efficient. The 4 men came ready to work and were very helpful. They worked quickly and 1 hour later, the truck was packed up! Victor was the crew leader and his crew was great. As a result of their efficiency, the total charge was $800. Words cannot describe how happy my husband and I were with these movers.
I have only one regret. I should have hired The Professionals to pack my house as well. We were still packing when the movers arrived. Despite that, we got most everything we wanted out of the house. My last move was 20 years ago and I underestimated the amount of stuff my family accumulated as well as the amount of time needed to pack it all up. I didn't ask for a packing estimate, but I know that The Professionals do offer that service.
I anticipate a few more moves in the future. Based on this great experience,next time, I will hire the The Professionals to handle the job from start (packing) to finish.

Booking: I booked my move LATE and the woman that I spoke to at Professional Moving Services was fantastic! I explained the issues I was having with my building elevator and she found a time that would work--although not ideal--she told me to check back, closer to the move date and see if someone cancels. I called two days before my scheduled move still..no luck on moving the time of my move. Two hours later, she called me back and was able to fit me in the morning. Great service--she could have easily just kept my original time but she went above and beyond to help.
Moving: The movers were scheduled to come between 8-8:30. They knocked on the door at 8:02. They were quick, professional and very accommodating to my many requests. Jorge was a good leader--he made sure that everything was exactly as I wanted it before they left.

When I called to schedule my move, they were very prompt and polite. Many people are moving in the fall, but they were able to give me my preferred date without a problem. Then for estimating how much the move will cost (an often tricky prospect) they have you do an inventory of furniture and a guess at how many boxes you will have. I sent that on and they got back to me within a day with the final estimate and bid for the job. I sent that back to lock in the date. Later in the week I realized that I underestimated the number of boxes, and they were able to quickly update the estimate.
As for the move day, the movers showed up on time, and immediately got to work. They included wardrobe boxes so while I was loading those with the hanging clothes they were loading all of the boxes into the truck. They worked so quickly that I only just had time to finish with the wardrobe boxes before they were done. Finally I cleared out so they could move the furniture.
Moving into the new house was even quicker. I had to move quickly to keep up with their questions about where I wanted everything! In they end they were so efficient in getting all the work done, that they came in well under the final estimate.
I can not recommend these movers enough, they made what could be a miserable day into an enjoyable one. I was able to enjoy the new house and they took care of everything else. I will definitely be telling my friends to use them in the future.

is stressful and i found the professionals moving specialists and they got good
reviews so i called them. i have to tell
you it was a fantastic, almost stress free move. they took my information and emailed me a
quote and they estimate on the high side so you are not shocked when bill comes
in higher. So they estimated 6-6.5 hours
and the day of move they showed up EARLY (which is unheard of), we spoke and i
gave them the instructions of what is going where and they went and got
supplies and were off to the races, they finished in about 4 hours, had packed
everything and loaded on truck. i was
moving cross country so did not have them unload but i have to say i drove from
Chicago to LA and when i arrived, the truck was packed so well, i did not have
one broken item, not a dish, not a wine glass.
i was so happy!!! i highly
recommend THE PROFESSIONALS MOVING SPECIALISTS bc they are professionals and

I worked with Shifra to make arrangements for the move. She was very responsive and professional. She worked with me on the estimate and my inventory list. She was very patient up til close to the last minute when I submitted my final inventory. On moving day, there were 6 moving men and two trucks. The movers arrived about 20 minutes early, and didn't start loading the trucks until we gave them permission upon confirmation of our insurance policy that we'd bought separately. In the end, they didn't charge us for those 20 minutes.
They moved very quickly, took direction very well, and none of our items was damaged (only a few minor scrapes on the walls of our old location that we were able to go back and touch up; although, we did purchase an insurance police from a 3rd party provider).
It was expected to be an 8 - 10 hour job, but we were very organized and they were very efficient, so it only took 5 1/2 hours. We were glad about that, as it freed up the rest of the day for us to get some other important things done.
We were able to account for every box afterward and were relieved that nothing seemed to be missing.
Overall, these movers were honest, decent and hard-working.
They were on time and they finished EARLY. The actual cost was less than the estimate.
They brought everything up to my 4th floor walk up without a scratch or ding.
I would surely use them again in the future.
