I've used them in the past and they were great. This time I called them because of a sick Japanese Maple and Pear tree. They came out and we came up with a plan, told me I'd get a quote that night. Waited two weeks and called the office. Left a message. Got a call back and they apologized and said they'd get me a quote by the end of the week. Waited a week and a half - nothing. Called again and left a message that I really want to give them the business so could they please send the quote? Waited another few days and heard nothing. Not even a return phone call or email. This is a much different experience than my first time working with them a few years ago. Go elsewhere to an outfit who wants your business. Maybe they only want commercial business or are under new management (they were The Care of Trees the first time. Now they are Davey Trees).

The service was very good, I had no problems.

Called three times and no one from CoT ever got back to me. Exasperated with unresponsiveness I looked elsewhere. Phone person was pleasant but ultimately clueless and unhelpful.

I've used CoT a couple of times for pruning a variety of trees and shrubs/hedges on my property. They have been more expensive than the comparison bids I got from other services, but they're well worth it. The arborists have been very knowledgeable, have listened carefully and respectfully, drafted explicit work plans, and kept in communication. The work has been performed on time. Crews did a good job of pruning and cleaned up thoroughly. I also use CoT for annual tree/hedge fertilization. Again, they cost a little more, but the work is done on time and the staff has been communicative and respectful.

First, it took 10 weeks total to have the Care of Trees rep finalize an estimate. I should have quite while I was ahead there. Then, they came to perform the service of tree removal, planting and new mulch. The rep didn't order enough mulch so the job was not complete. Our yard went half done for 2 weeks. We would be promised one day for the crew to show up and no one did. Care of Trees didn't follow up with us - I had to call THEM to inform them of the issue. Very disappointed in the customer service and lack of integrity.

Nov 2016. Arborist was low-key, no high-pressure. He did a great job of educating us about our trees and their needs. Pruning of trees and a shrub hedge was well done and encouraged healthy, attractive growth in following two years. Crew cleaned up perfectly. Excellent communication regarding initial work and subsequent annual feedings. Price was reasonable. Other vendors were not as specific in their evaluation, nor as skillful in educating us. Couldn't be more pleased...

One had a big branch hanging over our house, but it was still alive. If it would have fell it would have really wrecked our house. The other one was dying. I didn't get quotes on the price. Quality was very good. They are a very good company.

Very good quality. They usually come within a day or two. He came exactly on time. They really know trees, I think that they're very skillful and they're careful when they do their work, you know, to climb up tall trees. So I really think that they know what they're doing.

They did a great job. Actually, we have had them every 3 years to take care of our trees as they grew, and they do a wonderful job. They are in business to take care of trees, not just cut them down!

I think it was $1,000, I'm not sure. I think there were 3 or 4 people. I don’t remember how long it took, probably a couple of hours. They were very professional, so they left the area clean. They did the job well, they were just trimming branches. Workers were professional and well spoken.

Care of Trees destroyed my beautiful cherry tree on Dec. 2, 2016. I had a healthy, three-story tall, symmetrically shaped cherry tree. Now I have a cherry tree that is half three-story and half two-story tall, deformed in shape and with deep gouges in the bark on almost every branch. Now I have a cherry tree susceptible to disease that will surely shorten its life. I watched in horror as the three men assigned to take down a four-story Tree of Heaven adjacent to my cherry tree allowed branch after branch to fall onto the cherry tree ripping the branches from the cherry tree. They did not tie off the branches of the Tree of Heaven and swing the cut branches down to the ground which is the appropriate method for cutting tall trees. Instead they ripped off the branches of my cherry tree. They ruined my cherry tree in looks and in health. There was no supervisor present during this work. In a panic, I called the sales rep who had come to my house and seen the two trees, Allison. She asked me if I would go outside and talk to the men! Apparently she has never been to a site where tree removal is going on and does no know how dangerous it is to go anywhere near the falling branches. Was she expecting me to be the supervisor on the job site!? Finally an hour or so later, a supervisor showed up. He made a lot of excuses saying he can't supervise every job because he has 20 people under him. He promised the he personally, he kept saying "he personally", would come over in the spring and fertilize the cherry tree. He could see how damaged the tree was. He admitted the tree was very damaged in looks although he believed not in health. He also kept saying he was sorry, over and over again. This did nothing to make me feel better. He acknowledged that the cherry tree looked very bad. I was in tears. Care of Trees is the most irresponsible tree service I have ever dealt with in my 8 years of having my two acres of trees in Woodstock, IL trimmed. We trim every year in Woodstock. We have very old, tall trees. I have watched in Woodstock as the arborists tied off the branches and swung the branches to the ground so as not to break branches off shrubs and small trees below. Care of Trees does not care anything about trees. They just hacked and destroyed, unsupervised and untrained. These are not arborists. An arborist knows how to treat trees so that they are healthy and beautifully shaped. My cherry tree is now unhealthy and deformed because of Care of Trees. It is now Feb. 1, 2017. I have not heard a word from the two people who know that my cherry tree was destroyed: the sales rep and the supervisor. They have not stepped forward to accept responsibility for this botched job. How is Care of Trees going to compensate me and my husband for deforming our cherry tree and making it susceptible to disease and possibly shortening its life? Why should we pay Care of Trees $1,510.00 for taking 10 years of growth off my cherry tree and deforming the tree they were hired to make more beautiful? Feb. 16: after I called customer service and wrote a letter to customer service the supervisor called and again apologized for ruining our cherry tree. His solution is to fertilize the tree. Any reputable, ethical company would have offered to waive the $1,510 because of all the damage they did.

Excellent, excellent, excellent! Top notch work. I was very impressed and pleased! The most impressive thing that they due, is that ALL their work is insured!

They answered all of our questions, were very nice, and very friendly. They do a great job, don't rush through their work, and don't leave a mess for the homeowners.
